My Mom also made several meals with leftover ham. She even used the bone and fat to make bean soup. I liked ham salad sandwiches too. You mentioned having it on a salad and I agree that would work. I do it all the time with tuna salad.

I recently in the last couple years was introduced to ham salad… I had never heard of it until I started following Coffee Time with John & Momma… He puts sweet peas in his recipe so that’s what I add in along with Celery onion sweet pickles or relish… It was good and I have made a couple times… Love you including dad in the preparation of your meal… ❤

My mom ground up ham with a hand grinder that screwed to table. She used sweet pickle relish & half miricle whip & half Hellmann's & once in a while diced celery or fine grated carrot. Love your video content.

I’m 71, and grew up having ham salad. We had the meat grinder that you screwed onto the counter/table and manually use the handle to push the meat through. None of us like any kind of mustard. Ours was basically sweet pickle relish, and Miracle Whip dressing. We also would put it in Moms. Homemade buns, a slice of cheese on top, put it under the broiler for hot ham salad open face sandwiches. It’s amazing how everyone is different. I’ve not commented lately as my IPhone had major issues, and just got it back.

I don’t know if you know of the meat grinder I’m referring too. It clamped onto the table and you turned the handle as you pushed the meat down into the opening.,Mom passed away in 2003, at age 89. She had macular degeneration too, and it was so sad to watch her eyesight be taken away from her. I’ve not been feeling well. I have deterioration of my spine and in a lot of pain. I have depression and anxiety, which runs in my family., Sorry I wrote you a book!!!! Enjoy every moment with your Dad. Take care!! ❤️

Ham salad a great go to with leftover ham no waste at all! The one additive I always added was diced Swiss cheese all on white bread so delicious it’s a ham and Swiss sandwich but chopped up now I want some😅!
I was raised in the 60's and can remember every Thanksgiving my mom would make both turkey and than ham salad using most of the ingredients you used, with the exception of the turkey salad, she used actual salad in the pot. Tasted great, I miss those days.

That is a good recipe. I might like the ham ground up a little finer. I’d pulse it a few times in the food processor. Also I’m a miracle whip guy. I use pickle relish and onions but I never thought about adding mustard or jalapeños. I’ll try that. I have to get some ham, I haven’t had any for a while.

Love these sandwiches but I like to use miracle whip in my sandwich spreads because it gives it a zing. I also put some mayonnaise and onion and sweet pickle. Sometimes a little deal pickle and sometimes a dash of mustard. But yours is looking awfully good. Thanks for sharing❤

Hey Penny and George! Have a Happy New Year! I had my hip replaced last week and am still stuck at home, but recovering nicely. I always add hard boiled egg to mine also...and since I don't have ham that often, I use Bologna like my mom most times. I use a meat grinder and put everything through that.. mom used Miracle Whip, but I find it too sweet if that is all I use, so I use half mayo and half Miracle Whip in it. Hope 2025 is even better for you both than 2024.

@@walterstrahota2956 Yes a few pulses in the food processor would be easier than cutting it up. Lol. I just have never bought a food processor. Really don't have the room for it. Lol. If I ever get a bigger kitchen. I'll have to make sure I get one. Lol. We've used miracle whip before too. This time I wanted to do it more like my mom would have done it. Oh the mustard and the jalapenos give it a little more flavor. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do Walter. Your mustard is great in there too.

Like number 190. Hi Penny and Daddy George, I'm using voiced to text. Hope it works. I love sandwich spreads ham, tuna chicken. Love these sandwiches but I like to use miracle whip in my sandwich spreads because it gives it a zing. I also put some mayonnaise and onion and sweet pickle. Sometimes a little deal pickle and sometimes a dash of mustard. But yours is looking awfully good. Thanks for sharing❤

I put ham in my sm chopper, I I only put mayo and a bit of sweet pickle relish. You really put lots of stuff in yours. Looks good.
Oh I forgot😅 I put a little sweet pickle juice or a little dash of sugar just to give it just a little sweetness. Not too much and salt and pepper😅
My mouth is watering, I don't have half of those mustards I live alone, and I don't know if we have some of those pickles in Australia, I really would like to make it.
@@endeavouringit You can use any mustard or pickles. Dill or sweet pickles or a combo of both like we did.
Hey Penny and George! Have a Happy New Year! I had my hip replaced last week and am still stuck at home, but recovering nicely. I always add hard boiled egg to mine also...and since I don't have ham that often, I use Bologna like my mom most times. I use a meat grinder and put everything through that.. mom used Miracle Whip, but I find it too sweet if that is all I use, so I use half mayo and half Miracle Whip in it. Hope 2025 is even better for you both than 2024.
