Great vid. About to do this job to my B-250 van, basically just your truck with a different body on it. This vid was real helpful and listening to you is a hoot.
Nice job, good video, distructions were clear. I was all "dang it man" @ the start of vid, now Im all "hell yeah" let's get 80-90 gear lubed up all slickery & get to mechanicin. Yall keep old red between the ditches.
Its a great job thank you for your hep it’s a good video and explains what to do I going to fix my dodge Dakota 2000 it’s to noise at the back of the truck
Great video. Hoping this is why my truck been making noise for while. Hoping the differential isn't fucked cuz I've not had $ to Jack it up and try and work on it till recently. 97 dodge ram 1500 4x4 auto 5.2
Next time you take drums off, pull the little plug off the backer plate and back of the adjuster screw with a philips head.. it will disengage the pads.. you had a hard time because you were fighting the pads pressing against the drum the whole way off....
Let's get the names of parts correct, shall we? PADS go on disk brakes, SHOES go on drum brakes; plus you are totally wrong to suggest a PHILLIPS screwdriver, you need a flat screw driver
Would my bearings be going bad if i feel clicking at low speed turning? I have a 98 ram 3500 dually i feel it in the rear and just replaced u joints and its not them.
Your spider gears could be going out in the diff, I have an 03 ram mine started as a clicking while turning. It progressively got worse until the gears stripped and the truck wouldn't move.
So why didnt you clean out the axle tube? There is bearing debris floating in that axle tube. Just pull the carrier and brake clean and shove a rag through the tube. Half assed job.
That seal will never seal again. Next time use a small drill bit and put a two holes in the edge across from each other, then put wood screws in it and pull both at the same time with two pliers, or by putting a little piece of metal between the screws and it'll come out without scratching up the surface for the seal like driving a screw driver in there does.
Why would you put grease on the bearings? Now you have grease and oil mix in the rear end. You wanna soak the bearings in clean rear end oil then install them.
I didn’t charge anyone to do anything. It was my truck. Not to mention, it’s a dear lease truck. But, I’m glad there’s assholes out there like you that know it all to warn everyone about people like me. Keep up the good work SJW
Of all the vids on how to do this job, this one is the most entertaining. Thanks!

Quick tip.. Leave 1 bolt in at the top of the diff cover when separating.

Great job bud, from Phoenix Arizona god bless you all🙏🏽🙏🏽
Pretty good tutorial thanks
Great video! How difficult is it to realign the planetary gear if it gets knocked out of place?

My question is should t there be some .000 thousanths of play in the axle? Hardly any but a little bit? Or shoukd there be none at all?
Glad you didn't get a lot Earl all over the driveway lol
Cardboard and gloves

Check the fluid level
Nice job champ!
yup that threres yr truck nuts .. you need to adjust your truck nuts
So why didnt you clean out the axle tube? There is bearing debris floating in that axle tube. Just pull the carrier and brake clean and shove a rag through the tube. Half assed job.
mopar 2ya cause I didn’t want to! Thanks for the compliment fuck face.
Spiny like and tap a roo! By God boy you got er son! 😂
Why didn't you MIC the axles to see if those bearings might have dug a groove into the axle shaft.
@@dropndeal Oh....hahahaha
Good thing
I just changed my gear fluid 2 1/2 quarts

Why didn't you grease up that bearing before you put it in? Was it pre-greased?
I greased it up off camera before I put it in.
Why would you put grease on the bearings? Now you have grease and oil mix in the rear end. You wanna soak the bearings in clean rear end oil then install them.
Hey buddy where did you get the part and what number if youve got it please. Just got some replacement bearings from centric but they are way to small
Is it the same on a rwd 98?
Yes, exact same.
What if it doesn’t slide right out ?
Anyone used a brake conversion kit on one yet??? If so what kit worked?
If bearing is like weld in how to get out
Didn't clean off the cover, no prelube on bearings and seal. Asking for problems
pcguys-off-grid-cabin I ♥️ asking for problems.
There not called planetary gears (there's no Sun gear) there called spider gears in the differential carrier.
@@dropndeal I learned my A'B'D's and 1,2,4's in So Cal English is a second language down there.
Didn’t replace the shoes or drums?
Nope. Sure didn’t.
Is this the same setup for a ram 1500 2002 ,4x4?
@Desmond Emberheart I really hope so..this is the same as my Ford 1997 van.super easy.if it's like a jeep 02 axle setup,it's bullshit..thanks
@Desmond Emberheart oh,forgot to say,mine has disc brakes,not drums..still same?
@Desmond Emberheart thanks..I've got hope..good luck with your project too
It makes me mad seeing how rust free a 17 year old truck 😑
My 31 years old fresh body panels
South Texas
where are you guys from :) some strong accent going on
Eygló Kristjánsdóttir, We're from East Texas and though we do have pretty strong accents, the more we drink, the thicker it gets.
Y'all sound fine to me...course I'm also from East Texas.
Forgot to pack the bearings with grease there bo
No I didn’t there bo. Just did it off camera.
Those bearings use gear oil, not grease.
Use a sledge hammer not a mallet
Ashroyer86 sound advise! We learn from our mistakes.
Watched a 4 minute video to learn what took 17 minutes in this one.
Any one got a parts list for this
2 rear bearing and 2 seal you can find that bearing puller on Amazon
Okay, now the fake accent is annoying. I can’t watch any further.
It’s not fake, and, thank you for not watching any further. The Kardashians are missing your views.
