This blew me away. I'm dead ass sat here on me bed with my mouth open. The vocal style jarred me at first but then that passion came through and then I read the lyrics and the shit hit me. Yeah, Kaonashi you hard.
Peter used to do a better and more digestible version of the technique during their 2018 Album Why did you do it, he used more vocal distortion but I think that caught up to him and he can’t do it anymore://
okay i had my fun for the day. thanks everyone for the comments, for loving the song, for hating the song, for talkin shit about us or saying the sweetest things. Love or hate, Appreciate you all!! also big love to EVR for holdin us down💔💔💔
peter really has some of the heaviest lyrics, the way he flips cliches, and just makes such interesting stories every song really makes him one of my faves
Consider it as a gate to a brand new world. Here's some similar experimental band I can think of: The Dillinger Escape Plan Psyopus The Number Twelve Looks Like You The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza Norma Jean Guys, help me out here...
Secondary comment: dude I just went through these lyrics and the vocal style makes way more sense from an artistic view, I went through pretty brutal abuse as a child, well into my young teen years, and when viewing the song through that lense it just f*ckin works. I remember screaming into my pillow like this. I remember crying in the closet like this. I remember leaving my home at 2am with my skateboard, determined to never come back to this hell, playing music through my shitty half functioning earbuds and screaming my pain away to whatever metal group I was into at the time. Just a phase huh... couldn't be a personality. But thats irrelevant to the point I'm making. What I'm saying is this is an incredibly raw (and accurate) depiction of abuse both physically and emotionally. The sound still needs some work but, if you, as an abuse survivor, could let that younger child version of yourself through to the surface and let them speak, what would they say? How would they speak? They'd probably use simpler words and phrases, they'd use a worn out, weak voice from crying and shouting, to lash out at things hurting you for reasons you don't understand. I'm actually crying, after thinking about a song, not even right after it played.... guys well done. I need a smoke break.
"Every man in my life commits some sort of treason. And then put the blame on me, as if I’m the reason why." Peter accidently just described the first 18 years out of my life in two sentences.
this is giving me Silencer nostalgia, but also Korn nostalgia, SOAD nostalgia, and every-single-one-of-my-fav-metal-bands nostalgia. tysm for sharing and PLEASE keep going yall
Their sounds aren’t really the same at all, but this resonates with me in a way that reminds me of the ISMFOF debut album back in the day. Sonically unique, relentlessly dorky and vulnerable, and those lyrics! Novel and potent at the same time. Special band. If MySpace culture still ruled the world, this band would be doing it big.
i'm so glad i got this on an ad. it's like a mix of artificial brain and mathcore with lefty fish/melt banana style vocals and the lyrics remind me of my family
Damn, those lyrics! I think what sold me on this band was the vocals are considered "jarring" or "not good" but the consensus was it totally works for this music. No argument here.
Found you guys for the first time last night via a twitter ad. Thank you for having the coconuts to upload these vocals. I’ve been diving thru your catalogue and I still have quite a ways to go. Great job bois.
I totally get how someone couldn’t get these vocals. I actually never really did properly with this band until now, I totally understood the intent behind it just it never clicked with me until this song. absolutely pure unfiltered emotion in those lyrics. your man’s release in those lyrics and vocal delivery is spectacular. no bullshit and no gimmicks. just pure raw emotion from his soul really beautiful stuff and also really fucking sick have that old school math emo shit with a modern (hate to say it) djent”ish” twist and obviously loads of old school 90’s metalcore. class band doing something really original, OG n cool :-)
I don't think I can express how much I resonate to my core with this song. The lyrics are insanely applicable to my own life and I feel such a connection to the vocalist. Absolutely fantastic, emotional and a banger all in one.
Having the privilege of Peter looking me in the eyes the first time screaming "I don't believe in Jesus cuz he wasn't there for me" the first time performing it live will always be one of my greatest privileges :)
Dude first time hearing these guys and wow those lyrics hit me so damn deep in the soul. Like I can understand everything you're saying bro, I hope you're okay man. Keep on making amazing music and writing what's in your soul because you're helping so many and also helping yourself by getting this out.
just found this band today. considering the track is about a fucked up dad, and one of the guitarists is wearing the exact Oceano shirt that I've had since like 2010, this was meant for me. I'm right where I need to be
I saw these guys open for Hail the Sun and Being As An Ocean in Rochester a year ago at the Montage, and they absolutely killed it. I’ve heard people comment on the singer’s vocal style and the resounding consensus is he is unique, the falsetto shouting works great with the chaotic instrumentals, and his lyrics are so direct and poignant. This band is everything that alternative music should be, there’s nobody like Kaonashi. Come back to Rochester on your next run guys, we’d love to have you!
I thought see you next Tuesday was an allright band, until I saw them live in the guitarist just decided to hock a loogie into the crowd for no apparent reason. Then he almost got his ass kicked. That was actually more entertaining than the music
It’s so weird like Peter sounds like a completely different person on this compared to hindsight for example. And it’s still so fuckin good, good job doods
I absolutely love to come back here and read the comments about weird vocals and weak lyrics, to find people who don't really understand Kaonashi and their "story arc" concept

first time ever hearing this band and i only clicked because the song title made me laugh... i am happy to say that i will be keeping up with this band and checking out the rest of their discography. extremely unique, at least to my ears and very jarring at first but i love the originality and experimental nature of the music. keep it up guys
A lot of people are rightfully focused on how this band has a cool and unique vocal style, but the instrumentals are also super mathy and interesting. There is so much cool stuff happening rhythmically in this track, in terms of odd meter, tempo changes, metric modulation, etc.

Props to the band for letting this guy do his thing vocally, really sets you apart in a sea of monotony.
I feel as if he wasn't there, the lyrics would never be complete. His tone tells this story in ways it goes on in many of our heads. :)
On God there's no other way I want this song
Who the main vocalist this man kills it. Live they are insane. Seriously best band I've ever seen live.
His vocals are so interesting. He’s one of the main reasons I like this band. I imagine his parents yelling this at him as a kid.
It’s honestly very punk rock. Sounds like some hardcore bands iv heard. This song slaps with some subs in my truck 🔊🔊
