I’m considering getting an Onager for Christmas. Me and my dad play often and we own many expansions for both sides, including all the mon calamari ships, both versions of the ISD and a large selection of smaller ships for both sides. We alternate factions so I need to know if getting this would be okay for balance as I have heard it is extremely powerful. However, I like the idea of having 3 large ships for each side to choose from and it’s a nice looking model.
The Onager breaks a fundamental rule of the game (being able to fire at extreme range), however it can be taken down fairly easily. I do not believe that 1 Onager is a bad thing, although it will take some time to get used to it (both as a part of your fleet and as an opponent). Should you get it? It would be an interesting piece to add to your collection and would provide a new challenge for you. Your mileage may vary though. - Ken
Personal opinion: The idea of the Onager is great. It makes fleets built just on token farming/running away (rather boring to play) much more risky. And the general idea of an "artillery" ship really appeals to me (I like artillery! 😁). The problems: It's significantly overpowered for it's price (it gives a good accounting of itself _without_ using the ignition attack), the extreme-range damage is too high (Theoretically kill a corvette before it's made its first move!) and - in my opinion the biggest sin, since the other problems can easily be fixed with errata - it's yet another superweapon for the Empire the has no counter in any other fleet. If, for example, the Rebels had a way to "deep strike" with fighters you wouldn't be safe token farming just because your opponent isn't playing the Empire. You could take a fleet of MC80Hs and Peltas without getting blown to pieces before you even get to return fire!
Im personally thinking about a Providence to round out my clanker collection to have something bulkier to go head to head with say an ISD, that way i would have three complete factions!
When the Hardcell was shooting at the Gozanti around the 24-25min Mark. Was there really another separatist ship at Medium range? It does not seem so therefore Kraken was not useable
We are not huge fans of using the Onager, Starhawk, or the Super Star Destroyer with any regularity. Having said that, they will appear from time to time and the season 5 entries (all viewer submissions) just had a lot of them.

The dice could be set to a hit with IF. That fleet has alot of dice fixing!
I think the die set was due to Intensify Firepower! And not Kraken.
