  • Welcome to our Attack on Titan reaction!
The Scouts and Warriors begin their battle on the back of Eren Jaeger's Founding Titan, only for Armin Arlelt to be captured by a member of a previous generation of the Nine Titans under the Founder's control. Being absorbed by Ymir like this takes Armin into the Paths where he finds and convinces Zeke to help them. This allows incarnations of the Nine Titans belonging to their deceased friends to switch sides and allow them to decapitate Eren's Founding Titan. When a wriggling centipede creature emerges from the neck to try to connecting with the head, Armin transforms into the Colossal Titan to try destroying it.
Eren revives in a new Founding Titan form the same size as Armin's Colossal Titan and the two grapple while their friends who also have Titan powers strive to hold back the centipede. Mikasa and Levi Ackermann fly on Falco Grice's Jaw Titan to finish off Eren as Mikasa struggles with her headaches. Levi breaks a hole into the mouth of Eren's Titan with a Thunder Spear, creating an opening for Mikasa to go through. She finds Eren's head inside and severs it from its spine, killing him and thus creating the future he foresaw with Ymir, where the power of the Titans disappears, leaving all Eldians as ordinary humans.

When you realize that Eren was crying in episode 1 because he just saw the future, and in the last episode Mikasa is crying for the exact same reason. Years apart but since the founding Titan transcends space and time, it's almost like it's all happened at once. Beautiful stuff

Yes you are right. Mikasa would never moved on from eren. She was literally buried next to eren grave 🪦 wearing that scarf 🧣 which clearly shows you how much loyal she is for eren 😢

The point of the whole Attack is that wars are cyclical. Ymir received the power of the Progenitor Titan in the same tree - 42:10. Also, the number “140” in Japan means freedom, but the manga ended at chapter 139.5. This means that Eren will Never be free (or he is not free yet). He will be the same Progenitor Titan who will wait on a chain until he is freed, just as he freed Ymir herself.😢
I'll try to explain some points:
    1) The fact that Mikasa had a final decision that even Eren didn’t know about. What she meant was that she could kill Eren. Mikasa did what Ymir couldn't do with King Fritz. She could not free herself from the shackles of her love and obeyed him for 2000 years. And Mikasa was able to show her a different path. Every time Mikasa had a headache, it was Ymir who rummaged through Mikasa's head.
    2) Regarding what Eren said to Armin on the way. For Eren, all events after Eren kissed Historia's hands were determined (predetermined). Eren saw the entire future and in fact he had no choice to act differently. And in particular, this is why he sent Titan Dinah to kill his own mother. Likewise, other people, for example, Eren Kruger, were pushed from the future by Eren to achieve the final result.
    3) Seeing another version of reality/another dimension is one of Mikasa’s abilities. This was also demonstrated in the OVA: Lost in the Violent world.
    4) The decision to remove the power of the Titans from the Eldians is Mikasa’s choice through a conversation with Eren or an agreement with Ymir. This saved Connie, Jean, Gabi and others who had transformed, including Connie’s mother.
    5) The main theory is that the power of Ymir remained in Eren’s head, and in the end, when hundreds or even thousands of years passed, that same tree grew greatly, people regained the power of the Titans and the cycle repeated. History is cyclical!
41:46 - by the way, at the moment when Eren in the form of a bird ties a scarf to Mikasa - this is a very appropriate type of bird: the "Parasitic Jaeger" (Stercorarius parasiticus), also known as the Arctic Skua, Arctic Jaeger or parasitic skua. The word "jaeger" comes from the German word Jäger, which means "hunter". Thereby referring to the surname of the main character.
P.S. Just know guys that Isayama originally wanted to make Eren a free bird that crosses the seas.
I would also like to clarify regarding the scenes that were shown in the credits, as to why they were shown at all, because... not everyone understood what Isayama wanted to convey to us with this. And also some people began to express the opinion that, in fact, Eren had achieved nothing.🤣
In fact, Eren has achieved just that. Throughout the entire work, Eren had the main goals - the extermination of all the Titans and the desire to achieve freedom for the people from Paradise Island. As we can see, in the end, he achieved these goals.
The power of the Titans has disappeared, the walls have been destroyed, almost all external enemies have been destroyed, and most importantly, all the people of the island have finally become free and free in their decisions for their future existence. What will happen after Eren's death will all be in the hands of the people themselves.
And this is where Isayama conveys his main message to us: if anyone can destroy all people, it is only the people themselves. These final scenes show that years, centuries, perhaps even a thousand years pass, and at some point in the peak of technological development, humanity creates its new "Titans" - nuclear and other deadly weapons that ultimately lead to the destruction of human civilization. From the latest frames we can observe a classic picture of a post-apocalypse. They show a certain boy with a dog from which we can understand that people still exist, but we can only guess how they live.
Through these frames, Isayama is trying to convey to us that the main enemy for people is the people themselves. Through the entire work, and in particular through the final frames, he tries to show us what war and cruelty lead to. This is especially true in these difficult times. This endless cycle of cruelty and violence will not stop until people finally realize it themselves. People are free in their decisions and actions, but will they be able to destroy their own inner “Titans”? Who knows who knows.
    !Continued in the next comment!

    Continuation of previous comment:
In general, the most ardent lover of freedom turned out to be a hostage to fate.
After a detailed study of each word, each character, I came to the following conclusion: Eren is a slave of time, having received the power of the Attack Titan, he was able to see the future, which led to a time paradox. There is only one true timeline, but Eren saw it. Knowing any events from the future, he unconsciously changes it. Saving his mother from the Titan Dina Fritz, saving Sasha from Gabi, helping various people and basically saving his friends. He does this by manipulating his future self over little Eren. But each time changing fate to a more favorable one for Eren, as I already mentioned, this leads to a paradox that creates parallel universes. In these universes, Eren lives to be 13 years old with a destiny constructed by himself. And then he dies, then he stands by the same tree in tears (from the first episode) and a certain Groundhog Day begins. Eren goes through all these events again, and he from the future tries to recreate the true timeline, as before, when Eren did not know about the future. He doesn’t know how he would act if he didn’t know about upcoming events, and this is what causes the paradox. And perhaps for 2000 years he has been trying to recreate the true timeline. And this version of events from the manga and anime is the perfect version. That is, Eren is almost closer to the true story and fulfilled his destiny. He died exactly as fate had intended. That’s why Eren didn’t even try to save many of his friends, knowing about their deaths - all because this would lead to the line being broken and him waking up at the tree again.
Remember the beginning of the anime, how Eren woke up in tears saying that he had a very realistic dream that he did not remember. As the anime began, so did the point of no return.
As for Armin and Annie's love arc, it's essentially an unwritten love story taken out of nowhere. In general, after the finale, it seems to me that Eren was right in the conversation at the table and did not invent anything, and Mikasa is truly a slave, and as if Armin’s feelings are from Bertholdt. Isayama generally seems unable to engage in romantic love; it seems to me that he can only show friendly love and close camaraderie. In fact, even the central idea about love could have been wrapped in this, in friendly love, in love for one’s people, it would have looked much more organic, and would not have really changed anything. Ymir would have watched how his close friends and comrades killed him, how Mikasa, only his sister and his family, dealt the decisive blow, how his best friend was ready for such a decision, and would have also accepted freedom. Therefore, here I think that the problem is not precisely the chosen theme of love, but that it was formed into a romantic rather than platonic one, because camaraderie and friendship were present from the very first chapters, and this would be much more logical. But this is just my subjective opinion!
The latest volume of the manga contains non-canonical extras. pages where Armin, Eren and Mikasa leave the cinema after watching the movie (which is the Titans title itself). Armin hates the ending and asks logical questions, Mikasa says that she liked everything, and Eren says that he just enjoyed going to the movies with his friends. They turn around and go home. All. Yes, like a happy ending, which will not suit everyone, but why does it seem to me that this ending would be a better solution than what we have now?🤔
By the way, about 5 years ago Isayama said in an interview that initially he wanted to make Mikasa the main character. Apparently, he died at the end...😁
    And finally:
When creating the Attack on Titan manga, Isayama was just over 20 years old...
So you watched this anime, from a twenty-year-old author - Isayama.🤯🥴
    Now my opinion about anime:
Honestly, in my humble opinion and without wanting to offend anyone in the comments whose opinion differs from mine, but still, looking at this issue from a different point of view, at the same time, not opposing anyone’s position and trying to be objective, but Also, accepting all the arguments of other participants in the discussion, I sincerely believe that the ending and the anime itself turned out to be awesome.
Thank you for this long, 10-year history (in my case😂🥴). Attack on Titan will forever have a place in my heart. I love this title with all my heart, it occupies a special place in my list of anime watched!🖤
Throughout the last episode, tears flowed like a river. Let us give our hearts for the very long work, for the thoughtful, interesting plot, for all the dead heroes in the anime. Thanks for all!🖤✊

Appreciate all your explanations! Without you a lot of points throughout the series would be misunderstood! The entire series is very deep, rising a lot of questions and theories.
Now when some time passed after we finished the series, we realized that both of us loved this ending, but totally understandable why someone would hate it, as long as the show was dividing the audience so much for so long, that it was impossible to satisfy everyone.
Some of the post-episode discussion points was completely cut off, because during production we noticed that we completely disagreed with a lot of things we mentioned right after the end of the episode lol, our opinions on different characters, events and ideas kept changing from one day to another, not even mentioning that we still missed some important details, that we probably will get a bunch of dislikes for haha

Eren succeeded in protecting his friends. After his death they lived their whole life safe. And how he got to do all of this, it was all set in stone, whatever he did it wouldve ended the same way, so all he could do is just move foward.Him saying to Armin that he wanted to see the world leveled up was a thing made up for making Armin feel better about his decision, but in reality there was nothing Eren could do to stop what's coming. And yes he never got to grow up, he was just 19 when all of this was happening, basically a kid with alot of responsibility.
Yimir saw in Mikasa that even though she loved Eren with all her heart, she could bring herself to kill him to end all of the terrible things that were happening, unlike her, Yimir sacrificed herself to protect the King.Thats why Yimir chose Mikasa.Thats why they showed the paralel where Yimir let the king die, because thats what Mikasa did to eren to stop the rumbling, something Yimir couldn't do.

I think you are making Eren too much a victim, there is a crucial line that was something like “because I’m an idiot who got too much power” Eren in a moment of self reflection accepts his egoistic desire, a feeling that shouldn’t get access to a power like the one of titans, maybe any human shouldn’t get access to something even similar, our ego could trample over the life drive of many. Even Armin accepts that he also wished to erase someone, he shares that so Eren could have a little bit of empathy. All that happened maybe was fate, the fate dictated by a human with godlike power

This is a very in depth show so it's hard to just focus on one thing. The show is interesting on a rewatch, because you start to see all the times that future Eren is sending messages to his past self, or is somehow affecting his mind. Like just now rewatching this with you two, i've discovered a new little tid bit that I didn't notice before. But there are times throughout the show where Erin will regret his choices and say internally " If I had done *this* differently, then things would be better". And i'm realizing now that he was possibly getting flashbacks or memories of times where he tried to do something different. Like when Annie killed Levis squad, and Eren had a huge moment, where he internalized how he should've just fought Annie right away and killed her.

Why don't you understand the end of the final chapter when Eren and Armin are talking? remember on the ship before Annie and Armin chatted, Armin was surprised to see Eren on the path, well that's when Eren and Armin's conversation happened. So Eren took Armin to the path and took him to a place they really wanted to visit outside the walls, they talked from childhood to adulthood, remember time doesn't apply to dipath,.so it wasn't a flashback but a conversation between eren and armin in dipath, then when it was finished eren erased armin's memory, so he didn't remember the conversation, and his memory came back after eren died..even though the other reactors were very easy to understand.

Erens mom had to be eaten cos if she wasn't the show would've ended in season 1 with eren and all of his friends dying pointlessly...everything he did was to ensure it all ended up good for his friends...he found himself smack in the middle of the worlds shittiest crossroads with power on his hands and chose the "only" option that didn't end with his friends dead

The human limitations doesn’t come from lack of power (even now we got more and more tools that would seem magical to other generations, now, can we say humanity is a better place? Maybe we live longer but a lot of root problems always come back) even a almost too pure soul like the one that Armin shows is tempted with desires of “erasing” the problems instead of dealing with them, Mikasa showed that she was able to overcome her love for Eren and stop him from causing more suffering, the result was that even a human with a unforgivable sin was still loved by someone after death. Is a private place, that facet of Eren dies with her beyond that he was a true monster. Ymir took another path and just enabled a mad man to keep going.

it's not easy to understand this episode in the first go, even for diligent viewers... especially not when lacking in proper understanding n comprehension of the lead up to this episode... it shows.
    - taking it all in, processing, rethinking will help you get the actual gist of it, coz the final analysis output was one of the shallowest take i've seen alright... lmao.
    - well, from the tutoring in the comments, you're prolly learning it already.
anyway key story points which are very important for understanding the final message...
    1. erwin's reply to pixis, when pixis pondered when human conflict would end. (+) yelena point to levi when allies fight the yaegerists.
    2. eren's conversation to falco on the bench in marley. that's his whole goals n motivation right there.
    3. mikasa's quote - world is cruel but also beautiful.
    4. historia's monologue letter at the end of this episode. - the fate of the world isn't dictated by any one person's choices rather choices of all in the world play as to why the world goes the way it does... (bluntly speaking, eren did what he did... not only bcoz he wished it... but that wish was also fueled by the choices the world forced upon him)

Its not only about to convince eren to end the massacre, is about to convince Ymir, who missunderstood freedom (when eldians set her free, they haunt her; when she freed the pigs, she haunted her). Mikasa was the key cause she, aswell, was in love, but she achieve to be free enough to chose saving humanity (something ymir never could, she was a slave to love). So when ymir saw mikasa kill eren, she now undestood freedom.
I hope you enjoy the series and sorry for bad english

It seems like Ymir was waiting for someone who loved another person as strong as she loved the king in her eyes, and when Ymir saw Mikasa stopping Eren despite of her love towards him, it convinced her that letting go someone you love is another choice, that sometimes is necessary to make :(

Think about it this way, the eren we always knew wanted freedom and got his hand on power but because he was a slave to the timeline of him wanting to be free all his life, this was the only possible outcome, so he saw his future himself controlling everything to lead to that outcome (telling grisha to get the founding, sending the titan towards his mom etc) ... and that's what he told Armin in the end, he was a slave to this timeline, to the past and future combined that goes towards freedom, hence he was a slave to freedom itself.

I don't wanna get into arguments and stuff.. i just wanted to tell u that eren didn't know the future .. he only knew a few events like ramzi's death, rumbling scenery, himself convincing his dad to steal the founder.. he got to know the future and the past simultaneously when he got the full power of founding titan by Ymir in episode 21..
(It's a theory) The last clip shows hope.. When Ymir reached that tree, she was horrified to death, injured all over her body, chased down by dogs, she didn't look like someone healthy.. all of this manifested into reality when she collided with the source of all living matter
While the boy in the last clip reached the tree, he wasn't horrified but he looked like a good, healthy boy, he wasn't injured anywhere he was fine, instead of being chased down by dogs he had one as a companion.. overall he was opposite in a lot of ways than Ymir and her situation..
Maybe if he collided with that thing (source of all living matter), something good instead of something like titans might manifest.. something hopeful for humanity.. we don't know what it could be but that's the only explanation we have

23:05 After talking to Armin, Zeke let Levi kill him ("hey, I'm here"). The promise he made with Erwin lost some meaning, especially after knowing that this was Eren's ultimate plan to save Mikasa, Armin and the others. Also, killing Carla (his mother) was very important not only for kid Eren, but also for Grisha.

Well Senpai!!!!! Crazy eeeeh! We have reached the end of the journey and I want to leave you an extensive comment about the caliber of the series and your involvement.
Sabina, in my previous comments I have never said anything about you but this time I have to say 2 things: the first... I was very sad to see you, you were broken from practically the beginning, the series really makes you think that they are not going to being able to defeat Eren and the rumble... and that has been seen on your face and in your emotions all the time. The second thing is that in your final opinion I feel that you have been very brave in saying that the scene in which Mikasa kills Eren and then kisses his decapitated head was wild but it was art. I think the same, there have been bad opinions about that scene, but I think that in the world of SNK that scene is brutal. It resolves many things in the same image: the love that Mikasa felt towards Eren in case anyone doubted it, the trouble that being at the coordinate could cause, because let's not forget that the camera shows us the transition between the goodbye kiss that Mikasa gives him being in the coordinate, to our reality, and lastly, Ymir wanted to witness how a person in love can stop the person he loves and even take his life (which was what she should have done with her king and not did).
That said, I appreciate your courage to defend that scene, as we say here in Spain "olé".
Senpai! I'm with you that Eren's character faces a chaos of past, present and future, of other bearers' memories and his own. Watching the series again clears up many doubts and clarifies the story more. The message that Isayama is trying to give us seems to be that it is sad and has to do with human behavior, violence, wars, the cycle of hate, the interest in having power through the most powerful weapons or resources on the planet. ... etc. It is hard, unfair and unfortunately sad, but it shows us something that we all know has happened in our history of humanity and that it can continue to happen to us.
On the other hand, I want to comment on a detail about the ending because in the anime it is difficult to identify, since you see everything very quickly. It seems that Mikasa ends up having a husband and even children. I mean, she keeps visiting Eren and doesn't forget him, but she ends up creating her own family. She is buried with him, yes, but she was able to live a life beyond him dying. It is normal that they bury her where Eren, since in addition to having been in love with him, Eren represented many more things for her, he was practically her family, her only family after the death of her parents, and just in case... Eren was the person who saved her when she was little.... Mikasa owed him her life, no matter how bad or how well Eren did things.
Well, that said... for me it meets all the points to be considered a masterpiece: crazy story, interesting character development, script twists never seen before, great work by the voice actors..., extraordinary character closure , brutal animation, epic moments of action and all wrapped up by a masterful soundtrack.
Thank you Isayama for this crazy series and thanks to people like you for sharing something that we love, with people like that, it's a pleasure to see the series again.
I wish you much success with the channel. Greetings!!!!

  • @Wlof25

The whole story relies on a paradox. Eren doesn't want anything, because he has no agency. He is stuck in a casual loop where his future is determined by past and vice versa. They didn't think it through. You can't just introduce messing with time by the end of the show, create paradox and then end it. It's not satisfying. We have a character who keep wanting freedom, but he has no agency, so he doesn't really want freedom, because he is not making any choices himself.
And that expands on other characters. None of them have agency. It's all predetermined to happen, with no possibility of doing otherwise. So when a character seemingly do a right thing, it's just a random thing which was predetermined and not a character recognizing it's a right thing to do and such.

Well. Eren managed to save his friends, in the end. What are you talking about ? He made them heroes in the entire remaining world. Titans doesn't exist anymore, and war didn't happen for at least three hundreds centuries. And this is huge. Our world never knew peace for that long.
For Eren and Armin's conversation, remember that he can do whatever he want, in the Paths, even showing his friends false places.
Eren has multiple reasons to do what he did. To make his friends heroes, but also to accomplish his childhood dream to create a free unoccupied world, for his friends to explore with infinite possibilities. In another hand, he was unslaved to his fate, because of himself. His desire for freedom paradoxally unslaved him to his own fate. He is a slave to freedom. That's what he meant. But Eren is a mere human. An human can't handle such power, transcending human perception.
That's the thing no one is understanding. Eren's perception is not as an human perception. He is no more a human, but a god. And this exactly why he lost himself and confused all his desire, his perception and his emotions. A god, as god is in term of definition and not religion. That means Eren's condition already is out of understandable. He is a child with too much power, and created something only because he could, as a god will create life only because he could. All creation and action, in reality, has no meaning. They have meaning only because we choose to give them meanings. But in reality, there isn't. And this is the point of the show. Everything is pointless. But even if nothing has meaning, we can just take pleasure in life, and live without caring about some idieological stuffs, or searching for ideal worlds that will never happen. Instead of losing our time for perfection, we should just live our lives the better we can. Eren is someone who had an ideal of perfect freedom. But it doesn't exist, and Eren forgot to simply live, in the end. That's the purpose of all this. By wanting to accomplish something extremely perfect and only good, you'll finish to make evil things without understanding you are doing evil things. Ideals and perfection are the reason why there is war. It was never hate, but only human nature. Since nothing is perfect, humans can't be all only good, or trully free. We are not trully free. We just have an illusion to be free. But we are not. Eren, in the end, forgot human's limits, and his humanity. That's why he was just an idiot with too much power. He forgot his humanity, by trying to achieve something impossible.
