Had that pleasure to meet them back in 1973. Never enjoyed a show anymore than theirs. Even a 16 year old white kid knew great music when he heard i!!!
There's a story out there about a soldier in the Vietnam War who was shot and injured, and to keep himself awake and ready for evac, kept singing this song to himself over and over. Became his favorite song for obvious reasons.
This group always seemed a bit underrated to me. However, they did have a number of great hits, including this song. It shows their range and ability to perform to perfection very well written songs. Thanks very much for the request, and for your reaction, Harri.
The band Foreigner had a hit with tune called ''Urgent' in the early 80's. There's a killer sax solo in it and it's the great Junior Walker blowin' his horn.
This is one of those songs you never forget once you hear it. Fifty five years past and as soon as that sax opens, bam the memory takes you right to it. Beautiful song, love the sax this song will never fade.
Junior Walker was an American saxophonist & vocalist who recorded for Motown during the 60's. He had a lot of great songs with his group "The Allstars" such as "Shotgun", "(I'm A) Road Runner", "Shake & Fingerpop", "Come See About Me", "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)", "Pucker Up Buttercup" etc.
That's what I'm talking about ! The true sounds of MOTOWN, JUNIOR WALKER & THE ALL-STARS WASN'T NO JOKE ❤ SO GLAD THAT I AM A CHILD OF THE 60 AND I GREW UP IN A AMAZING MUSIC ERA OF THE 60S AND 70S . THIS AMAZING LEGENDARY GROUP . THE SAX IS OFF THE CHAIN ❤
Hi, Harry! This song brings back so many memories of my late uncle Eli who introduced me to this type of music, it was one of his favorite and became one of mine too. May i suggest you to try "Secret Love" by the late great Billy Stewart, another great hit from the 60s and it sure worth a listen. Cheers from Brazil!
🎷🎷🎷💎💎💎 Oh my goodness. I have suggested this song a few times.. I'm in heaven. ❤ A giant hit for Jr. Walker in 1969, after Motown quality control rejected this song, but DJ's in the area, loved it and made it popular. The opening bass riff, followed by the wailing sax, gives you the chills for the entire record. Jr's vocals deliver wonderful lyrics with a catchy melody, that was a major hit and still is a masterpiece. Jr played on Foreigner's hit "Urgent" in 1981. Just a great artist. Great reaction Harri. ❤ Thanks Wally for this classic hit. 👏👏🎷🎷 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
Junior Walker was a saxophonist extraordinaire and Dublin as lead vocalist in this song shows his abilities. Great music He played sacks for people like Foreigner and many many many others... He was the darling love on the saxophone She backed up every major singer in the era and he was the equivalent with the sax...
Mmm, takes me back to those days...double dating sitting in the back seat with my best boy. Head on his shoulder just cruisin and groovin. Crazy how real it can feel these many years later. What a great take-me-bank song. Thanks Harri ❤
Talk about solid gold! Growing up in Southern Ontario, Canada, the music from Detroit filtered across the boarder and was pocked up by Canadian radio stations. 1050 CHUM out of Toronto played all the hits. This brings back memories. Thanks, Harri. You are the man!!
Junior Walker almost had to be begged to record this one! Sure glad he gave in. This, and Gotta Hold on to this Feeling are my two favorites....................
Harri thanks for sharing this song with us. This one is one of all time favorites, brings back warm memories from when I was a young college student dancing the night away ❤️🔥
They were Motown for sure, on the "Soul" subsidiary, which was more southern in orientation (included Gladys Knight & the Pips, the Originals and Jimmy Ruffin). This was one of Jr. Walker's more laid back hits; most of his tunes were termed "gut bucket soul," including "Shotgun," "Shake and Finger Pop," and "Do the Boomerang." He also did a great cover of the Supremes' hit "Come See About Me."
I still love this song to this day. I remember when it was a big hit back when I was a young teen. He has more hits. Try Walk In The Night and his version of These Eyes. ✌️😁❤️🎶🎶🎶👍 PS - I just subscribed!
Dude....Are you allergic to playing soul music on your channel just like a lot of music reactors? I was hoping that you would play "Shotgun" by Junior Walker and the All Stars.
It's sad that those kinds of music are no longer being produced anymore 😢
how sweet it is to listen to junior walker & his all stars!!!
@normankennith7919 bro can you do a reaction video on this one (to be a man megamix by Dax and various artists)
Had that pleasure to meet them back in 1973. Never enjoyed a show anymore than theirs. Even a 16 year old white kid knew great music when he heard i!!!

In the 60's you could hear music like this on the radio all the time(as a kid I couldn't afford records), and the memories......wow
The romance and the optimism of the 60s….man, I miss it!
My memory of this song, “lighthearted and upbeat just before I left for Vietnam.” Loved it.
There's a story out there about a soldier in the Vietnam War who was shot and injured, and to keep himself awake and ready for evac, kept singing this song to himself over and over. Became his favorite song for obvious reasons.

I was 12 years old running around the projects when this song came out. I'd watch the grown ups do the Cha Cha or Calypso to it.
Amazing
Jr. Walker also played the sax solo on Foreigner's hit, "Urgent". There's an interesting story behind that.

Harri, try "who did they think he was" by Conway Twitty. It will make people really think. Love this song. grew up with it.

If people love that sax they can find an extended 4:22 min. version of this song.
i submit Van Morrison and David Bowie as singers who Saxophone!
Also try Shake and Finger Pop, Jr Walker does not play that Sax, he makes it beg for MERCY!!!
Smooth as 15 year old bourbon.
Dude....Are you allergic to playing soul music on your channel just like a lot of music reactors? I was hoping that you would play "Shotgun" by Junior Walker and the All Stars.
