It's so interesting to watch this. My late husband and I did van life 20 years ago with paper maps, no cell phones all over the country. We spent a lot of time in Ocean Beach, it wasn't crowded then and so wonderful. I went back to Ocean Beach in 2020, I was shocked how crowded OB was
im sure it was lovely back then
Ocean Beach in the 60s was like being in a dream if you were young and open.
oh man, I believe it! take me back to the days before the standard Amercian diet poisoned everyone
Living your best life, without property tax.
thats what im saying! just wait though, the government will come up with a new tax for people who dont pay rent or a mortgage. im old enough to remember when Obama taxed me for not having health insurance 😂
@@nomadbrad503 the most terrifying phrase in American can hear is..."hello we are from the government and we are here to help you"..-Ronald Reagan
@@nomadbrad503 you mean the congress. Obama signed it. And they call it Obamacare. But it was the republicans who insisted on the penalty "tax" for the non-insured. The democrats conceded to their wishes (also eliminating the public option which would've kept costs down for everyone) and then the republicans STILl didn't vote.
Masterful politics if you don't give a shit at all about the people of the country.
The original obamacare, modelled after romneycare and originally a REPUBLICAN idea would've saved this country TRILLIONS while ensuring that most people had better care than they could ever have afforded on their own.
Well done washington, you've fucked us all again!
We have people with residency in Texas for income tax live in Montana with no sales tax. I've had a few people fly up to get their Montana residency from California. One guy said he was using his son's address, he doesn't talk to him, and then mailed it to California. Has all his vehicles registered here, "because it's cheaper", registered to vote here, too. Then had the nerve to complain about what he is doing about other people.
I'd say about 75% of the licenses I transfer are from California. Several from Oregon or Washington, a few from Minnesota, Arizona and Texas. Those are the typical ones. Not much from the rest.
If everyone would just be clean..respectful..and quiet...people would be less inclined to bother them...good job . Good life❤
thats my thought exactly! most of us arent harming anyone
That van is awesome and spacious and very contemporary. Thanks, for sharing.
Thanks for watching! im glad you liked the build
Don't worry about those old fuddyduddies who want you towear a shirt. I'm old (78) and I don't mind. It's your home and life. Enjoy it! I think as an old lady, I could have done that 50 years ago. I admire you.
I appreciate you 😎
Starlink is great for off grid use. I have a starlink and it was so surreal being able to get online while parked on the rim of the grand canyon and my phone had 0 service.
That being said, you're completely right. It's a pain. For city living I would use something like what you're describing. But if I was gonna spend a few months on the road in places with no towers, starlink is a great back up.
Plus you can turn starlink on or off each month as you need it.
Yeah, starlink would definitely be something to consider for off grid living.
@@nomadbrad503 I have Starlink on my van.. It's a game changer!! I game in my van with no problems...
If you have no cell coverage will your phone work using Starlink wifi?
@@joeblow1942totally seems like you would have WiFi at that point. Cool idea behind that is you could reduce your data package if a lot of your time is WIFI. B/C WiFi doesn’t even need a cellular plan to work. Interesting. Makes that STARLINK A LITTLE cheaper then if I hardly need data. I pay for unlimited right now which is $75 a month.
@joeblow1942 Yes it will
The weather in San Diego has been beautiful this week. We planning the spend the day on the bay tomorrow.
nice! you cant go wrong with a day at the bay
I really admire your life . I love your setup . Thanks for the info and the awesome videos
I appreciate that! thanks for joining me
God I love that layout. Just started on my own conversion here recently, and it's a heck of a trip.
lol you said it correct! a heck of a trip 😂 this is my 4th build out so i finally got the lay out right. sold every previous van once i figured out a better layout
I lived in SD back in the early 90s loved it
That must have been magical 😎
I love your videos . Bro thanks for your channel .

Awesome vid and incredible setup! A nursing colleague just got a rig to help get into travel nursing so I’ll have to share this channel and its super helpful content with her!!
Awesome! This would be perfect for a travel nurse

Hendrix cover live at San Diego's beach... Oooooohhhh pretty good!
If I can I'll do something like you're getting there!
I didn't know this 'NOMAD' internet choice, great advice!
Thanks for sharing!
That Hendrix cover was so amazing. I love to see young musicians doing what they love
This is verry infomative.Ive been thinking of getting a nomad internet service.
thanks for the input superdave! its been a great service for me
Starlink has changed the design of their mount to go flush on the roof of RV's. I saw one on an rv review online.
That’s good to know!
Wow, looking forward to joining you in SD. I'm up in San Gabriel valley
Sounds good!
Never thought to put butter in coffee 🤔
It started off as Bullet Proof Coffee by bio hacker Dave Asprey. Ghee is what makes the coffee amazing.
Makes it extra creamy
I've got friends who puts butter pecan moonshine in their coffee. It soooo good!
@@reynetallents I like the sound of that 😎
Don't go to la Jolla home owners are slicing tires
Thanks for the heads up!
Bull come to La Jolla, dont be ascared.
That’s a stupid play by the locals!
Good way to force people to be stuck!
La Jolla idiots.
That was great footage I have never been to San diago looks like a nice place to visit
It’s such a great place! You should visit
Nice! Our son lives in SD and hopefully we'll drive our campervan out there to visit him!
do it! its such a wonderful place for vans
We’ve got a lot of beautiful beaches in San Diego. If you ever go exploring from OB, north county San Diego has some beautiful beaches as well. Cardiff, Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside are pretty awesome. Enjoyed your post! Cheers!

Yes! I’m planning to head up the coast slowly

Great videos Brad, can't wait to hangout in cal, AZ, this next winter, so it's that oregon life for now
Cali is the place my man! Hope to see you out here
Because I only work remote, I need to be able to have high speed anywhere so I have (will have) starlink as primary and I have verizon hotspot for back up. You got to use what you like. Thanks for another video. Stay safe brother.
thanks for checking out the video charlie! im dropping your sticker in the mail monday
remoteLY. "...work," is a verb, so it is modified by an adverb.

I’m from sandiego California and we got to say that ur so right, they make sandiego seem like it’s bad and full of homelessness but in reality it’s really chill, every town got there bad side but it’s only if u looking for it, because even if u at a sketchy place u will have a good time if u around good vibes and people
Very true I’ve been living in San Diego for 27 years. I live in Chula Vista I love it here 😊
I agree with you 🙏🏻
Chula is beautiful 🤩
Ocean Beach I use to go shopping there I wish you would of went down the next block ❤
I love ocean beach
I’m in San Diego you have class and style. Very clean upstanding MAN.👍💕💕

I’m glad you liked it
Thank you for making realistic content.
Thank you for recognizing that 😎
Awesome keeping it real🏄♂️
Thanks, I appreciate that
Thanks!
You’re welcome 💪🏻
Nice RV setup. Good video. Just one clarification: there are over 10,000 homeless in San Diego. It ranks 4 after NY, LA and SEA.
I believe it! There’s a lot of vehicle dwellers here
Awesome setup bro❤
thanks, I appreciate you
Great vid!
Thank you
Another great videos, Brad! I'm not concerned about you being shirtless, but I do worry every time I see you in bare feet. I'll spare you the cautionary tale, but I hope its food for thought. I've seen indoor/outdoor slippers recommended by van lifers on at least one "essential" list, which would definitely be on my list too. I'm vacationed on Coronado Island and Carlsbad and have fond memories from both trips. You are such a good and descent man! Too bad they broke the mold!
thanks Scott! im glad to know that some folks arent bothered my a shirtless man. I love walking barefoot but it can definitely have drawbacks. Im loving the vibes out here in san diego! looking forward to a most excellent summer 😎
I got a $117.50 ticket at that sleeping spot back in 2020 my first trip out here. Thankful they lifted that overnight parking law 🙏
Yes, the ticketing is much more relaxed. They have to allow you to move before ticketing now
Born an raised in San Diego. Still live here. The problem with the eased ticketing is coming. It's the METH and FENTYNAL FUELED people living in cars and non operational rvs with stolen bikes stacked on the roof. Trash in every direction. The property theft around where the vehicles are parked. People stealing power. Stealing water(for rv) dumping BLACK WATER. It's gonna get like venice, portland and The Bay.
Nice video with "a day in the life." I was watching while eating my low carb pasta, chicken, chorizo, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, green zucchini.
LOLOLOL you just said "day in the life."
Stay well Nomad Brad.
Peace
-John
Thanks John! That sounds delicious, especially the chorizo 😎
might try an external antenna for the nomad, my starlink is the same price as your nomad, not sure if it's changed since i was early on the starlink, but i've also used a visible Sim in an insty connect, and so long as you ghost your mac address from the visible phone that it came with (or the mac from the IMEI you used), it works great too
Nice, thanks for the tip
My old stomping grounds, miss OB!!!
I love it here 😎
Welcome to san diego!
Thank you! Happy to be here

Great video as usual. This is a little off topic but have you ever drawn a layout of your electrical? I am converting a 5 window bus, want to go mainly electrical (no LP) and need a/c nearly constantly (Florida). I have watched most if not all of your videos including the wire clean up... I 'm still a little confused and a wire diagram or layout drawing would be great. Just asking. Thanks again for all of your great content.
I haven’t created a diagram because the electrical will be unique to each build. I do offer assistance in creating a diagram and selecting components. Email me if you’re interested nomadbrad503@gmail.com
That coffee got some grounds in it😢. I use coconut oil instead of butter. Good vlog sir.
lol thats vanlife. don't mind a few grounds in my coffee when im waking up rent free on the beach 😎
Why in the world would anybody tell you to put a shirt on?!! Keep it real 😉
thanks Nichole. oddly enough its men who comment that. i think they're jealous. im just going to stay keeping it real 😎
I’m all for keeping it real! 👍🏻✌🏻👍🏻

Exactly keeping it real 💯
yea, just wash ya ass real good and tell em to kiss it til their hat flies off. I cant, my six pac aint perfect.
Great video I m\am just starting my journey and actively looking for a sustainable internet solution for the road. I'm a nomad at heart and got an out of state job so building out my SUV for the road. As long as I have my tech I miss nothing from stationary houses. And ^ year and still going great job.
Yes, having an internet connection is all you need to stay connected to society while enjoying an immense amount of freedom 😎
Brad, never thought about the 👕 less thing ...but putting 🧈 in ur coffee 🥴
hahaha its so creamy though. you gotta try it
Life is looking awesome Nomad Brad!! Love that little short bus too!
You definitely convinced me to return to San Diego for a visit. I am heading back to Washington next week. I am going to do a little detour on my way!! Thanks for footage. It shows everything just as I remembered!

built it myself. i have a toilet. shower at planet fitness
the public library has internet- just a few blocks away
you're right about that but I love working from home
Brad, I was going through all your videos and did not see any on your ceiling/roof. I seen the solar panel one. Do you have any of ceiling? Did you put wood beams for roof support? How is the ceiling insulated?
Hey Charlie! Unfortunately, I did not get a video of the ceiling. I insulated it the same way as the walls. Cut rigid foam to fit between the aluminum rails. Then I screwed the panel board into the aluminum rails. It was pretty simple
Your Vehicle Looks very very very Cool 😎, My Friend.

Hey brad. Been thinking about building a U-Haul but I was just wondering what happens with a breakdown. How do you find places to work on it and maintain it while you travel?
Most mechanics will work on it because it’s all econoline van parts. Just call ahead and make sure their doors are tall enough. I haven’t had trouble or finding mechanics in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico to work on it
Welcome to San Diego, I grew up in Mission Beach, the best part of my life living on the beach. @@nomadbrad503that's good to hear and also a bit sad for me as a content consumer. Lol. Its a good thing you've never encountered suddenly knocking while it's 3am or hitch hikers flagging you down and disappearing or something to like that. Thanks for the answer!
I lived in SD in OB and I’m glad you had a good experience but believe me, homelessness is a very big issue in OB and in SD… a huge problem. And not just people without homes, violent people who chase people down with knives etc. So yes I am all for people getting out and traveling and seeing for themselves and seeing the truth, but with that being said, I believe this isn’t showing the truth. I lived there from 1987-2023. Drastically changed over time. Glad your experience was so good but I know others who didn’t fare so well. Like the guy who got jumped by homeless and got his ear bit off in OB.
Sounds like I should be walking around with ear muffs
