Y'all please forgive how absolutely tired I sound in this video! Rick and Morty season 5 has come to a close with probably the biggest season finale we’ve ever seen from the series. Honestly, this might be the biggest EPISODE in the entire series, in just about every measurable way. The scale was massive, the storylines it followed up were the most desired, the back story reveals were incredibly thorough, and the cliffhanger left us with some of the biggest and most fascinating implications of any Rick and Morty story so far. So let’s dive in and not only talk about this finale, but season 5 as a whole and our expectations for season 6. Aka, Rick and Morty Season 5's Ending Explained

THE CAT
Also what about Doffus rick? why was he in that curb
I don't think the yellow portal color has any significance other than the fact it may be used to show it's gonna be eyepatch morty coming through when it pops up. the reason why I think that is that if the green color was supposed to represent travel only within the central finite curve why was it green before the central finite curve was even made by c-137?
Wait a second. Does that mean that Doofus Rick is actually the most dominant power in his Universe?
There is a Universe even dumber than ours? That's nice!
I came to the thought that the Central Finite curve was created to also trap the Rick that killed Diane and Beth so that C-137 could (eventually) kill him.
You sir are a genuis
I thought the same thing!
Couldnt he just run away then? Every rick just gather together to form the citadel and create the finite curve. My guess is he was always outside of the curve then entire time.
Yeah I figured that as well
Rick said it was more complicated than what was revealed so the cfc being a cage makes sense. Rick's can't go to other worlds and "hurt" them
It's interesting, because honestly, despite Evil Morty being sick of Rick, he's probably the most Rick-like Morty we've ever seen. In fact, I'm pretty sure he made his own version of portal fluid. He's incredibly intelligent, incredibly desensitized, and bested every single Rick in the Citadel along with ours.
Rick may be the Rickest Rick, and Morty may be the Mortyest Morty, but Evil Morty is the Rickest Morty. Though I think we've all guessed that a long time ago.
and doofus rick is the mortyest rick
I actually think he's Ricker then the Rickest Rick.
@@gortmo Actually, I think Doofus Rick is the Jerryist Rick.
Maybe the evil Morty is not a Morty but disguised evil Rick that killed Beth and Diane.
@@atiqazfar855 it could be
So that's why all those abandoned Beths keep saying her dad abandoned her. He didn't abandon her. He died. Well. Their Rick died. That's fucking nuts.
Whoa I didn’t realise that until you pointed it out, as Rick C-137 was going around killing all the Rick’s
@@alyssium9964 which is nuts. Since he never left her on his own accord. That's deep. And he has to hear Beth calling him a shit father because of all the damage he's done and all the Ricks he killed.
Wow, so Rick was never really a bad father. None of the father/daughter issues he or any Rick had was his fault, but he still has to accept it because he still had a hand in her being abandoned.
I thought most Ricks chose to leave their families on their own Accord, which is why they are so threatened by a Rick like C-137 who chose to stay.
Ie, it is expected for a Rick to abandon his family in pursuit of the infinite. To become a god. Which is why the Simple Rick's candy sells so well.
damn i never thought about it like that
I think that with evil Morty they did the idea of the “sympathetic villain” better than most other things these days. A lot of times they’ll get so caught up in the “sympathetic” part that they undermine the “villain” part.
Evil Morty’s motives are sympathetic. Rick is an asshole and wanting to escape his influence is something that you can sympathize with him on. However, he is still a clear-cut villain. Despite these sympathetic motives, Evil Morty himself is not sympathetic. He doesn’t care about the other Morties; he uses them as slave labor (see: the deformed sewer Morties) and is perfectly content with killing them along with the Ricks when destroying the Citadel. This is exemplified perfectly in the moments immediately preceding the destruction of the citadel. Evil Morty offers “our” Morty a supposed chance to escape with him, but when that offer is rejected, Evil Morty callously reveals that he had no actual intention of taking anyone else with him anyway. That’s him in a nutshell.
He says that what makes him “evil” is being sick of Rick. It isn’t. What makes him evil is that he’s a hypocritical sociopath who’s willing to murder thousands of his own kind in order to benefit himself and only himself.
To us, real living people your last line is very true for why he would be evil.
But he is saying why he is the EVIL Morty to RICK not to anyone else.
Rick has zero care for the idea of slaughtering millions of intelligent beings and a complete lack of remorse if he thinks he's even remotely in the right or it gives him something he wants.
That is quite LITERALLY what he is saying and you completely missed the point.
In a society built entirely by Ricks and Morty's our morals no longer matter in the slightest. They live in an entirely separate society.
At the most basic level he is evil for two entirely separate reasons, that can never be simultaneously true. He cannot both be evil for killing tons of people AND evil for wanting to get away from Rick.
You are right. But in all of this evil Morty has proven that he has essentially become exactly like Rick. Through his actions it has become painfully obvious that he is the only other being aside main Rick himself, who's actually happened and adopted Rick's philosophy that none of this matters. That nothing you've done and will ever do makes a difference. That's why killing Ricks, Mortys, and anyone is nothing to him. None of this mattered shit for as long as he is there. In the Rickverse. And he alone found a way to escape it. To run away from the things that don't matter. The guy isn't evil. He suffered, rebelled, fought, and won.
How I interpret it is that he just wants his life to have meaning fundamentally. Right now he is trapped in a prison that he had no control or say in bred for the purpose of being a convenience to Rick kind. He doesn’t like the fact that he exists in a small infinite of multiverses where every decision ultimately can be dictated by Rick and that his most reduced value in life is being a commodity to Rick. He rejects the premise of that existence and wants something more. He’s not necessarily evil just more independent thinking and acting and is sick of being lorded over by someone he hates
@@Dakamaru I see what you're saying but like, he did blender people alive.
@@averyh5303 so would every other Rick and probably a good chunk of Mortys- most Mortys are evil, but the reason Evil Morty has the capitalization is because in addition to being generally a mass murderer, he also opposes Ricks, thus defying his purpose as a Morty.
When Young Rick experiments with portal fluid the fluid is blue (just like Rick's blue shirt). Evil Morty's portal colour is yellow (just like Morty's yellow shirt). Mixing blue and yellow makes green, which is the classic portal colour because Rick has Morty he gets green portals.
Ooh awesome use of color theory dude
I think these colors actually have deeper meaning within the infinite multiverse. Maybe each color is a different section
@@BluJay_Rx hmm, does that mean that in this theory he would be going to a universe dominated by morties?
@@anormalguy8407 it's possible. Heck anything is possible now that the entirety of the multiverse is "unlocked"
I think blue is just teleportation and green can do dimensional travel
Fun thing I noticed, when Rick is first messing with portal tech in the S3 opener the portals are Blue (his shirt color), his interdimensional portal color is Green (a combination of his color and Morty's) and Evil Morty's portal is Yellow his color. It could signify that Morty has fully left behind Rick and made everything purely his color.
bit has been explains that bue portals exists and arent ricks discovery , they are used to travel through space only and not dimensions , the green portal travels dimesnions and i guess that the yellow one travels every dimension including the ones filtered out
@@OmagaProject What about the blue portal
@@TheFunnyGuy9000 reread what i've wrote
@@OmagaProject ok
@Zeno he had to escape the finite curve first
I like the idea that upon realizing the multiverse is infinite. He MADE a section of the multiverse finite in order to try to give it meaning. What happens here stays here, and evolves from what came before. It's him fighting back against the thing he has constantly complained about in nearly every episode. He knows he won't succeed but it's like he can't not fight back. When he tries to not care he ends up "caring" in his weird way.
If you cut infinite in half, you get two separate infinities. So technically he didnt make his multimeter finite, he just separated the multiverse into two sections
He didn't made a finite section, he made a portion of the infinity accessible. A portion of infinity still equals infinity. You must understand infinities are weird and not all are born equal. For example the set of real numbers is a bigger infinity than than the set of natural numbers but both sets are still infinite
@@jakeswagerson9941 Nobody said anything about cutting infinity in half, dummy. Rick simply isolated a bunch of universes from the rest of the multiverse.
If you have an infinite amount of rabbits and you try count 10 of them, you don't suddenly get "infinity" as an answer.
I mean, this set of universes is even called a *finite* curve.
@@blinded6502 there are an infinite number of realities where Rick is the smartest, and an infinite number of realities where he is not.
@@blinded6502 No he didn't do that, he basically filtered all the universes where he wasn't the smartest and removed them from being easily accessible. Infinity is still infinity no matter what and he didn't limit the number of universes that can be in there. Like I said earlier he just made it so the ones accessible are basically his. He's "god" when under the curve.
Evil Morty really took Rick’s advice about breaking the cycle to heart.
True😂😂
Break the cycle Morty be more
Evil Morty is just sick of Rick ...
🤯🤯🤯🤯
Imagine running into a happy rick who lives with his wife. She only died because they are stuck in the system, there are infinite Ricks on the other side who gave up science and lives a happy and normal life.
Basically Simple Rick. "60 iterations off the Central Finite Curve...." They legit kidnapped a fucking happy rick
@@kennajin3390 I thought about that as well... so fucked up, haha. But like Rick said, "I can't be responsible for every asshole rick out there." Seems like something some "citadel of rick" corpos would come up with.
Honestly, I think this may be one of the bigger things Rick could have been running from when he made his own little multiverse to live in. Not just other beings smarter and more powerful than Rick that could threaten him, but just the idea that there are Ricks out there that are happy, humble and peaceful. So much of Rick's suffering is self-inflicted, and he uses his intelligence as a way to shield himself from responsibility for that. He's built an entire existence in order to validate the fact that he's miserable.
Because Rick is smart, things must be this way. It's his burden to bear for being the best at everything ever. But the existence of anyone, especially a Rick, who's just as smart and capable but is living a better life is probably far more threatening to our Rick than any slimy alien monster that's going to come from the other side of the wall.
Rick didn't just create his pocket multiverse to ensure his safety and supremacy, but to maintain the beliefs he wants to hold about himself and existence at large. Anything that would challenge him or make him uncomfortable isn't allowed.
@@kennajin3390 But how? If the whole purpose of the Curve is to separate them, and we saw what lengths Evil Morty had to go through to break through it...I guess Simple Rick must have been on the Citadel before the Curve was created?
@@maxkalbach2438 I saw this proposed theory on Reddit and I really like it. It's possible that the Curve had nothing to do with C-137's desire to feel supremacy or even safety...that was just a ploy to get the other Ricks to go along with it. In reality, C-137 made it to keep the Ricks who would drop a bomb on Beth and Diane, apart from the others. So that what happened to him could never happen again.
This means that Doofus Rick is canonically the most dominant being in his universe.
Then whats in the universe of Tall Morty
@@BND1975 probably sweet home Alabama accident. I’m kidding please
Duh, hes probably from a universe where everybody is a doofus, just as fascist teddy bear rick was from a universe where everybody is a fascist teddy bear.
It could be tall morty was the smartest until an incidicent happened, like how Ricks can still go to other universes where their other selves have died.
I believe the logic is if a rick dies where he was once the smartest, then no matter the threat another rick would be able to handle it if necessary.
@@Lelouchxzero1 remember that teliscope the devil sold to Rick which would've made him a retard if he used it? I guess tall Morty is a Rick who fell for that
Rejection seemed to be the common theme throughout this season. Rick is rejected by that alien with the elbow tiddies, the crows, bird person, etc. He rejects Mr Nimbus. Morty had a heartbreaking episode where he had to reject planetina, and he had to reject evil Morty in the end. Evil Morty rejects the multiverse he was created in and the Rick who made it.

Wouldn't shock me if there was a whole multiverse set where each member of the smith family is hyper intelligent and has their own citadel. Imagine a whole citadel of hyper intelligent Jerries that are fully aware of how their Rick Multiverse doubles were being treated and decided to launch a full scale attack on Rick.
The funny part is. That might be one of the reasons why Rick keeps treating Jerry so badly. Maybe in his travels. He found a whole multiverse of hyper intelligent Jerries got scared and built the Wall around Infinity.

Just imagine Jerry: the smartest man in the universe is a possibility now.
Infinite universes does not mean infinite possibilities. It is possible there is no universe in the multiverse where Jerry is the smartest.
@@jouaienttoi infinite universes actually does mean infinite possibilities, there has to be at least 1 universe where jerry is the smartest
@@bourne8636 the numbers 2 and 3 have infinite numbers between them (2,1 2,01 2,001 ...) but none of those numbers are 4 or 5. Infinite universes doesn't mean every fathomable and unfathomable possibility occurs.
Jerry with confidence is the most dangerous man in the universe .
@@SiggiHar Thats basically what the Central Finite Curve is. Inbetween numbers 1 and 2 is all the universes where rick is the smartest. Outside that, we have every other number. So I would say that there is an infinite amount of universes where Jerry is the smartest man alive. Just not in the CFC
I always thought there was a limit to the number of universes Rick could access. Rick goes on about the infinite realities yet he quantifies the multiverse so many times.
yup
"There's an infinite amount of universes out there but we only have a limited amount of times we can do the whole bailing on a reality thing."
Yeah, in hindsight, the whole thing has been suspicious for a really long time.
yeah and the fact every rick was accounted for too in a way that there cant be more than 52000 Ricks assuming that there are 26 possible first letters, 3 numbers and a A or B, like Rick C-137 or wea saw the news anchors that were same combination but with an A or a B at the end.
There cant be infinite anything. Its logical imposibility. For example, if Rick portals to a dimension, it means infinite ricks also portal to that dimension destroying it with its infinite mass. See how apsurd it is?
I thought it was suspicious there was only one citadel, like with infinite Ricks there should be infinite Ricks who want to live on and work in the Citadel, so there would have to be infinite Citadels.

How about the fact that Rick never actually killed the Rick that was responsible for killing his family. I think that will come up later and I think he escaped the central finite curve to hide from C-137 Rick once he realized what he was capable of
This Rick could have been escaped like you said but remember in episode 10 "Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind" the controlled evil Rick shows our Rick a list of the evillest Ricks and between our Rick and the controlled one is another Rick. A one even eviller than both of them ... and it could be that this Rick is the same who killed Diane and Beth

@@marioxzzz yes but the best revenge would be killing that Rick and then taking his Beth.
I think rick's removing their multiverses from all of them is an even better showing of just how insecure rick truly is, He's so scared to not be the smartest person in all of the multiverses that he cut off the rest of the multiverse
And now with President Morty seemingly going off into new realities where Rick isn't the smartest means that he may very well be welcomed in those universes like a hero. He is still evil, so this may be a gambit to gain even more power down the line. Sort of like the Citadel times all the aforementioned realities. Man, I sound like Rick or Morty just talking about it.
This kind of reflects what our Rick said about "doing this 3-4 more times" it's that they are secluded from the infinite universes, it was quite literal, and if Rick kept on hopping and replacing other Rick and Mortys then the others will know and will start the whole process of exterminating him again
I don't know. I figured this as well, but it could also be about Rick hunting down the Rick that killed his wife, basically putting them all in a separate universe where they can do little harm.
smartest Ricks tend to be very manipulative... As we can see with the Citadel itself.
I don't think that's a show of insecurity. If he can do it, it's a smart choice for loads of reasons

I love the curve as a concept, it implies that Rick created a container that keeps himself and everyone else within the multiverses in which he is the smartest, but there is implied to be infinite universes, so infinite universes in which he is the smartest and infinite universes in which he's not. Making the entire thing 10x more complex
I heard someone explain it like:
There are infinite numbers between 1 and 2 (1.1 1.4 1.827 1.3863589 So on so forth). There are infinite numbers between 2 and 3, 3 and 4, and so on so forth. The central Finite Curve is every universe between 1-2 which has Rick as the supremely intelligent being who hates themself. So there are infinite universes where Rick is that but outside the central finite curve, anything is possible (Perhaps one where Jerry is a powerful, interstellar businessman, or one where Rick is just as intelligent but he lives a happy life with his daughter still alive).
I think the implementation of the central finite curve had two functions. For the citadel, to wall themselves off from smarter/more dangerous beings. For our Rick, a way narrow down the universes in which Diane and Beth's killer resides.
I dont understand why a being outside of the CFC would be smarter than a rick inside of it. The universes are infinite in both cases which means that there will always be a smarter rick. The word ‘infinity’ really confuses me in this show.
@@karelw.4390 Yeah I am seeing all these comments and it is making it worse. The only implication I got from CFC was that it was ONLY made for Rick to seek revenge on that original Rick. I believe this because someone that powerful and smart who isn't him in other universes would act similar to the Ricks, because they are also the smartest people in their universe. And the word infinity is infinitely inconsistent in Rick and morty as well as the term for dimensions. The very end also made me think they were resetting the show and either are making it canonical or an episode basis because how many times they broke the 4th wall and mentioned how the series is made. Which means they are setting up the next five seasons. I personally think evil morty will never show up again or he will be in the series consistently, no in-between.
@@patrickwilliams7496 why would he never show up again?

if this were an anime it would have been cancelled at season 1
Look at the last 2 seasons, they came out relatively fast, within about one year or so from each other. They also said that it will be coming out much faster than usually and at a consistent rate, pretty sure they already said they have most of the writing done for the next few seasons.
Also have to take into fact that the animators (Starburn Ind.)are a different company from the writers and producers and such, and they are always animating multiple different projects.
Just be patient 🤦🏽♂️
if you knew how toxic Japanese work culture is, you'd know why anime comes out asfrequently and well produced as it does.

I was actually really surprised when they fully went with destroying the citadel. I am also curious to see where they go with the portal gun since they imply it is fried and the technology is useless. This season was already really light on Portal Gun use but bow it seems lime they are setting it up so Rick can't run from his problems anymore, that he is instead permenantly stuck with the "C-137" family and has to defend them if he want's them in his life, actually making them matter. Course, the C-137 is in quotes because there has been so much 3 card monte play with this family, who knows what dimension they are in now or if it is the same family from Rick Potion No 9.

Technically, each Morty has unlimited potential to be anything, even better than Rick. It’s just that the Ricks’ influence hinders that potential, and Evil Morty was able to overcome that hindrance

Lets not forget - that even though the "multiverse" was "split in half", they are both still infinite. Half of infinity is still infinity - it is a smaller pool, but an infinite smaller pool.
Now if that were true then when Rick and Morty switch families in the cronenburg episode he says they can only do that a few more times? If this was an "infinite pool" they should be able to do it infinite times.
Not half.....he just circumvent infinity to favor his ambition
@@knightacedia Not necessarily. Consider the set of all Whole Numbers, which is infinite. You can then narrow that down to the set of all Whole Numbers that are comprised of only a single digit, which only includes nine possibilities (or ten, if you include "zero," or 19, if you include -9 through -1--it's been years, and I forget if zero and negative numbers can be considered "whole numbers").
I'm pretty high rn, but what if the Ricks from this multiverse are all from the same cut off point time wise. They all have the same memories and past, up until one point in time (hence the reason we have never seen a Rick without a teleporter). This would mean the pool is infinite but only from that point onwards. The other multiverse could be from before this point in time, where each Rick has a completely different past before this cut off point and could be completely different from the Ricks we see. Infinite possibilities from infinite timelines which begin from the beginning of Ricks life rather than mid way through.
@@knightacedia yea but there's a infinite number of universes where they're alive. Infinite number of universes that are already cronenbruged, infinite number of universe... the list goes on, so that's hard finding a universe that fits your parameters
It's interesting because they said in the "inside the episode" bit that they had been delaying this episode because of how it's going to change the show. So series 6 onwards. There's no going back.
Another interesting reference here is that when Rick is trying to pull a lever to close black hole that is sucking them in, there is a board on which is written BOOSTER CONTROL-MUST OPERATE WITH PARTNER which is direct reference to Doctor Who episode "Doomsday" in which Doctor and his companion together pull a lever to close black hole which leads to parallel universe and it is one of the most heartbreaking episodes bc his companion got tucked into a hole and gets separeted from Doctor forever, and from there is that established rule that the lever must be pulled by the partners together to close the portal

@@SirThomasBarone but why ?
@@petiteexplication6249 because rick said so
Note, the Citadel itself was the foundation of the Central Curve, so now that it was destroyed by Evil Morty, that means the curve itself is likely unwinding (What was observed in Evil Morty's hologram after passing through "The breach").
This likely facilitated the formation of the new portal fluid as the destruction of the curve would likely result in some changes on how universes are linked/could be traversed.
It also likely is part of the reason why RIck tossed his portal gun as he was the one who made the Citadel and the Curve itself, so he would know that even if he could repair the gun as it was, he would have to go back to the drawing board on it because of what Evil Morty did.
But then why was it green before he invented the finite curve?

I have a feeling that outside of the central finite curve exists at least one universe where Diane has attained the same level of intelligence as C-137 rick, while having her rick killed in her universe. The two of them meeting would be insane.
At 7:21 I started realizing that this is just another tier to the "multiverse battery" concept. Ricks whole central finite curve is just another car battery in a multidimensional O'Reilly.
With so many continuities answered now, I HAVE to go back and binge watch it all back to back. Fantastic video btw
This was exactly what the show needed to shake things up, the lack of progression was hurting the show now the story is finally bigger than rick I expect great things.
I'm still processing this bombshell of a finale, but I think there's something so genius about the simplicity of Rick's "dead wife" backstory.
Because it's not something super complex, it's not mindblowing, it just reveals something so obvious that it's easy to forget: deep down, Rick is just a sad old man.
For real it was just as it seems to be
Of course rick love morty and his family it was obvious he is lying and of course he have sad back story and yeah why he dont want to show us his back story thats just because this is just a back story like "yeah something bad happen thats all" but it work
It mocked it in train episode
Made this comment in another video, but I thought I'd share it here too.
What's interesting to me are what the colors of the portals probably represent now:
Blue is limited travel around one universe, and green as we know of it being the interdimensional travel. Now knowing basically the realities the Ricks have confined the universes where they rule are basically the green portals, the yellow portals most likely represents true access to infinite realities, which Evil Morty now has access.
We can see that EM possibly broke the central finite curve seeing Rick's portal gun fizz out of its green portal fluid during the end of the episode, meaning the CFC could be gone. So the green portals were basically a combination of infinite possibilities LIMITED into specific timelines. Blue + Yellow = Green.
*BUT HEY, THAT'S JUST A THEO--*
Theory: The Ricks, in their insatiable desire for Mortys, began kidnapping Mortys from outside the curve, and they accidentally kidnapped a Morty from a universe where HE was the smartest being, and that Morty is Evil Morty. This is why the portal he used was yellow, it wasn't a Rick-Made portal gun, but one of Evil Morty's own design, as yellow is the color of Morty's shirt.
Maybe this Morty wasn't born outside the curve. It's possible that when dividing the multiverse they didn't consider there could be such a smart Morty, so universes with highly intelligent Morty's were netted in as well. But I agree, I figured the gun was something Evil Morty made. Maybe he made it specifically to work outside the curve.
Could simply be that in his universe he is the second smartest being, second to Rick should be enough to pull the shit he did
@@willinton06 possible, or maybe he just learned how to fly under the radar because there's no way he's dumber than any Rick. Given how he out maneuvered every Rick in the citadel, he's either as smart or smarter.
@@TheQuietTyper the second smartest man in a universe can be smarter than the smartest man in another universe
@@TheQuietTyper To be honest, the Citadel Ricks aren't really setting a high bar. There are probably smarter Ricks in the multiverse, and I would put C-137 in there too.
While the idea of threats from beyond the Central Finite Curve are cool, I honestly wish eyepatch Morty the best and hope he finds happiness. My favorite part of the episode was the little smile he gave when he broke through the barrier between the multiverses. I like the idea that somewhere out there, there is Morty who is free from Rick and is happy because of it.
Now it makes more sense why Rick always says to Morty "we can only do this a few more times" when they have to bail on a particular universe because they messed up the planet. If it were the complete multiverse, why would there be a limit?
I always thought it was weird that every Rick had a Morty. They would always have some weird variation like shaped like hammers or something but there was always a Rick and Morty Annabeth and Jerry. We're constantly talked about infinite timelines but if that were true when they're be timelines where Beth married someone else and had a child that wasn't Morty and when we see children who weren't Morty on the Citadel? I just figured it was the writers not wanting to go that deep into it and lean more info how nothing matters
Well, we saw Beth remarried in an episode with Jerryboree, but yeah, it was way too not-diversed
true! i think this was a fantastic way of revealing why that was the case. it also explains that throwaway line about slick morty from the citadel episode being an "experiment"; so many morties have been manufactured and bred just for serving ricks.
What you said about Beth marrying someone else must be true for some realties.
For example, I am following a fanfic crossover in which Rick never had Beth. He had Lynn Loud from the Loud House. And eleven grandchildren. "Rick and the Loud House," by itsnouse.
ye i thought it was weird too, im glad they made it more realistic. It makes actions and events have more weight and meaning now.
Well in the begining this is just a concept for a cartoon because it is fun, each show specially story that each chapters/episode are not following have their gimmick and the "rick and morty" duo are the gimmick
Like every cartoon or unfollowing story without real plot, if the story isnt constant what make à cartoon be specific from others ? Thats the gimmick
Like, "space dandy is a dandy living in space, he live with à robot and alien furet-cat and his job is to capture unknows aliens" this is the concept, now with this just make what you want in every episode
Each episodes of space dandy have different plot, different scenario, different art style, thematic, etc... but the concept is what stayed , the gimmick like dandy loving boobs and thing make you say "yeah thats typical space dandy thing"
The logic is same for others cartoon and also rick and morty, thats why nothing really mattet and nothing dont have real conséquences in the begining exept maybe à red string
No one seem to be mentioning that Rick never found the Rick that blew up his family. That Rick is still out there.

I thought the Finite curve was just Rick cherry-picking the multiverse where he's the Smartest man in every universe. so he doesn't have to deal with the "real world". where he isn't the most powerful. He didn't do it to close himself off from more powerful threats; but to close himself off from Universes where he's just an average loser who lost his wife and kids
and what about the former scientist known as rick?
there are multiple universes mentioned that seem to not have any ricks present, like those universes that are just full of sawblades ect. Not to mention universes where people are made of pizza ect. I enjoyed the season overall and even enjoyed the dissatisfaction Morty had for rick the entire season my biggest issue was how quickly they reverted him back to his "old" self in episode 9. I would of match rather see the much more competent morty that we've been seeing being built up for the entire season than episode 10 morty, and then blending back the relationship with empathetic Rick and Competent and more assertive morty.
Uh Question everyone, does Rick(c-137) kill the rick that kills Diane and Beth?
@@ekewaka7497 no i dont think so
I agree. Especially with Morty starting the two parter by being heroic on his own terms, it was really gross to see him the one pining for Rick to come back.
I've known people as insecure and abusive as Rick, and I'll tell you - when the little guy breaks loose, they're the ones who feel free, not the ones moping and wondering what to do next.
I think that was just developing the "toxic relationship" aspect idea even more. Morty knows Rick is an ass, but still needs him and is willing to sacrifice himself when he is gone. This wasn't "reverting" Morty back as much as it was "progressing" Rick - Rick realized he didn't just need Morty, but WANTED Morty as well. The whole "Must be operated by partners" sign and then Rick smiling as he helped Morty up showed that.
Morty doesn't have to learn to hate Rick to evolve as a character - in fact, the episodes show what that turns you into: An Evil Morty.
@@chasedaily8134 I dunno, this sounds like victim blaming. If Morty doesn't hate Rick he becomes Evil Morty? Like...isn't there an answer that isn't mass murder?
You're right it's about progressing Rick - I'm saying it sounds like wish fulfillment, from the same kind of insecurity Rick demonstrates.
Could the "Inviting" Rick be so hard to locate because he went outside the central finite curb? He's escaped the most Rickest Rick to ever exist, so he's definitely as smart as, if not smarter, than our C-137 Rick...
all the ricks have the same iq, evil morty said that in his speech that one episode, so that's probably luck.
With infinite possibilities, ones ought to get lucky
Just an idea, I get the implication that “evil” Morty wanted “a way out”. That he wanted to die. That scene with the clones in the blenders, makes me think “evil” Morty had lived many lives, trapped in a system, created by, “RICK”.
Maybe his original Rick has him registered to Operation Phoenix against his will. So even if he did die, he still came back or was rerouted to another universe and likely tracked down. But he's finally unlocked perma-death and feels like stuff means stuff now. "We are who we are *because* of consequences"
@@chickencurry420 But he had a way to sabotage Operation Phoenix across the multiverse.
season5 episode 10 has got to be one of the best endings to a season of any show ever, i felt so emotional knowing that rick and morty will never be the same again and the evil morty music at the end almost made me cry it was that amazing.
One of the major implications:
Dumb Rick is the smartest being in his universe.
I’m kind of enjoying this trend of setting up misleading finales via the promos. The bait and switch keeps us on our toes. I do think season 5 was kinda weak but it had such a strong conclusion. I’m excited for all the major status quo changes they’ve set up.
if only movie trailer where like that
I thought season 5 was really strong - but they played around with some new pacing for the episodes that I think made them feel rushed. They weren't "bad" but it wasn't the same feeling on each episode I was used to, but I am glad the writers are trying new things. To me, it's why each episode felt kind of "rushed" not from a quality stand point, but from a developing and playing on ideas and plots.
But it also made sense in the grand scheme of things - the family has seen some shit now so they would be more willing now to cope and then ignore everything.
Edit - as an example- I don't think any episode this season could have fit in the "goodbye moonman" song because they were just cruising through each episode so fast. Maybe it made them feel more one-dimensional because of that. But I have crazy ADHD so it was fine with me lol
@@chasedaily8134 its a little rushed but its because they decided to make a fake out episode where they make a whole episode as a setup so that the beginning of the final episode of the season looked it was just going to be another silly shits and giggles episode and then wham! they just hit you with evil Morty almost a third of the way in, leaving two thirds of the episode to not only explain Ricks backstory but also drop a massive reveal of whats really going on and then evil Mortys grand plan. They crammed a metric shit ton of stuff and from the moment the FBI Ricks show up they hit the ground running. It was alot!
There is always another layer to evil Morty... he himself may be looking for the Rick that killed C-137s family who would indirectly be responsible for all that C-137 did afterwards... I mean if in so many years C-137 didn't find him it's an educated guess to say he was not in that multiverse
Woah thats true, he never found him and in all that time he might have become even stronger than the ruthless young Rick who was capable of killing Beths and Wife. Maybe this evil Rick was so obsessed with power he left the curve to fight even stronger beings than Rick to be even more powerful. I can see a future episode where our Rick and Evil morty team up to fight Evil Rick. Although i dont think its correct to call evil Morty evil anymore since he just wanted to escape.
I was literally just thinking about that like by the time rick finally created his portal gun and went through the mutiverse there is probably a chance that rick that killed C-137 family was already long gone. And since it was split in half chances are evil morty might just be in that very same multiverse as that rick.
Not necessarily. There were still infinite universes within the central finite curve. There are more Ricks than any one of them could find or know about. Rick could've honestly just stopped caring when he decided to settle in with the Beth and her family from whatever universe he happens to be in, maybe even before that.
I’m pretty interested to see Rick and Morty’s dynamic going forward. Rick now has to see Morty as an equal now and by extension be honest with Morty, especially after that reveal.

• Visited by "Eviler" Rick who offers him portal tech
• turns it down, "guess I'm a different kind of Rick"
• big badaboom, RIP Diane and Beth
• gonna make that bastard pay, lemme invent portal tech real quick
• looking for Eviler Rick, teams up with Birdperson and Squanchie, kills a lot of Ricks and Feds
• never finds Eviler Rick
• somewhere in here he switches universes to one where Rick didn't get Beth killed, but does leave her
• seems to broker peace with other Ricks by building them the Citadel
• also builds the Central Finite Curve, a subset of multiverses wherein Rick is the smartest being in the galaxy, separates the CFC from all other multiverses where he's not
• crash lands back on earth, reuniting with Beth and meeting Morty (and Jerry).
• In one of the universes, "Evil" Morty learns the truth of the Central Finite Curve, that Ricks are altering events to produce Mortys and using them for their bullshit. "Evil" Morty wants out, he wants to escape the CFC to finally live in a universe where Rick isn't central to everything
• In an early Rick and Morty adventure, they look for "Evil Rick" who captures them and scans Rick's brain before being killed. Evil Morty gets away with that data, giving him intel on the Citadel and CFC
• Evil Morty gets elected president of the Citadel while Rick and Morty bang merpeople in Atlantis. Evil Morty still doesn't have all the info he needs to escape the Central Finite Curve, but now has access to the Citadel
• Looking for a way to get Rick back from the two crows, Morty goes to the Citadel and becomes 40. They have to return there to undo it.
• Once there, "President" (Evil) Morty finishes scanning Rick and Morty's brains and begins his escape to beyond the CFC
• To prevent any Rick from stopping him, Evil Morty hacks all their portal guns to either kill them or teleport them to a chamber that kills them.
• Rick and Morty escape in the Mortyburg portion of the citadel along with several malformed Mortys before the rest of the station is sucked into a black hole
• Evil Morty escapes the Central Finite Curve and gains access to infinite realities where Rick either doesn't exist or is not that important/smart.
• Evil Morty opens a yellow portal, a color often associated with Morty, representing his newly won agency, as well as technology beyond what we understand
Nice
I'm excited, but I'm also curious, if the smartest being will always have portal tech, who's saying that President Morty gets to escape the spiral? It's possible that he just enters a universal where he's top dog doing all the shit Rick did, or others doing the same. Is he really escaping? Or just prolonging his inevitable shift into Rick.
I also thought about it like the way you did. I just think evil morty is rick but at a very young age. Maybe he will eventually miss rick so much he starts to act like him. Slowly shifting in the rick we all know. And to make sure the cycle continues he goes back in time to simple rick and asks him if he wants to be the most smartest man in the universe. Simple rick declines. Evil morty( who shifted his life like rick) denies his answer only for him to kill his own family just to get rick to the point he is now. Just a theory though😁
Did anyone notice how similar the twist of a scientist creating his own mini-multiverse so he can be the smartest person there (after battling countless other versions of himself) was very similar to the finale of Loki?

One thing I really love: Back in episode one, where Rick and Morty have to hijack a portal from the galactic government, the portal is originally blue. However, when Rick alters it to go to C-137, or a place on the Central Finite Curve, the portal turns green. Like you mention, the portal 'Evil' Morty uses a Yellow Portal instead of a Green one. Maybe the blue represents portals to worlds taken by the Galactic Government, a sort of mirror to the CFC. It could be a great concept going forward. Different colored portals for different areas of the new expanded Multiverse.
I think blue is exclusively teleportation, I don't think the Galactic Government mastered multiverse travel
Hey and to remind you s3 ep1 the agent from the galactic federation has rick trapped in the mind device to find out his secret to interdimensional travel and the invention of his portal gun! They didn't master the technology but trapping Rick in the high security prison they thiygh they had a chance to extract his secrets and perfect their own technology! Evil morty proved to be smart enough to read Ricks brain and come up with a genius plan to master it himself and that means breaking out of the central finite curve!
We saw a blue portal in Rick's memory before mastering interdimensional travel. Blue portals seem to = intradimensional travel. You're going to somewhere within your own universe. Green portals = interdimensional travel within the finite curve. You're going to a Rick-sanctioned universe, basically. Yellow portals... they appear to be truly interdimensional. Any universe. Infinite.
Could be wrong, but that's how it appears to me.
@@Sonik644 Ye that was the whole point of arresting Rick in the start of Season 3
I also though that the green portal is green because they are stuck in that universe the Rick's created, but I think that might be incorrect. The reason I believe it's incorrect is because the portal was green in the flash back of what happened to Rick. I think the green might just be a asthetic thing and Evil Mortys is yellow because of his portal gun. Maybe Evil Morty is using a different type of portal fluid? Similar to how blaster bolts are in Star Wars.

This is just speculation tho
Ricks had portals before C-137 even knew about them, which probably means that the curve was already being put into use. I think it's implying that he didn't make it, he just uses it to his advantage.
i feel like they are so meta that it really cheapens most emotional plot moments. like, rick and morty has always been pretty meta, so i dont expect the writers stop, but they have really amplified it these last few seasons. now it feels like they just do it to shield themselves from being called cringe in case their writing turns out a bit too corny. the rick and morty of these seasons would never commit to scenes like the emotional ones in season 1. maybe its not a bad thing, because theyve grown in other aspects, and the scope of the stories is bigger than ever but... i dont know, it can make the moments that are supposed to tug at the heartstrings feel cheap when they constantly follow it by the characters saying how dumb the dialogue of their show is. or maybe its all planned by the writers purposely, who knows. either way...
There are three head cannons theories as to why Rick decided to make the Central finite curve.
1. Rick wanted to limit the places Killer Rick could go to and wait for himto come to Rick.
2. Rich didn’t want to deal with other people that where as smart as him (if not smarter) because Rick knows how to deal with himself, he is his own worst enemy after all, knowing what buttons to push and when to push them to gain the upper hand against them.
3. He separated the Ricks that are selfish monsters from the Risks that choose the simpler life just like he did to make sure none of them became just like him.
Theory: Rick created the Central Finite Curve in order to prevent the smartest Ricks from ruining other universes, like what happened with him in the past.
I like more the idea of a prison for the killer Rick, but at this point i will take everything that reverses the character assassination of Rick
Yeah... but in his quest for revenge, he became the same thing he was hunting. How many lives did he ruin by killing all the other Ricks? Making him just as bad if not worse than the one who destroyed his life.
@@JS-hw8ve But he only killed other Ricks. That's partially why I think the CFC wasn't put in place to keep the universes were he was the smartest separated from the ones that he isn't. The CFC was created to keep Good Ricks and Evil Ricks separated.
Since the creation of the CFC, as far as I'm aware, no Rick has killed any of the Smith Family members besides for Morty. We've had Ricks hold various ones hostage and could have easily killed them, but didn't. Good might not be the best descriptor for this side of the CFC Ricks, but could you imagine what a truly Evil Rick would be capable of?
@@therobomega You aren't getting what I said.
Also, you think Rick is good?
Let me start again: Rick's family's biggest issue with him is that he abandoned them. Beth was terrified he would leave again. We discover that Ricks always abandon their family... Then we find out they aren't abandoning them, they are dead, because our Rick has been killing them. The pain that the family we are seeing is spread across the multiverse because our Rick was causing it with his rampage.
This part I could be wrong about. The CFC? He probably built it to keep the one that killed his family from escaping. It wasn't to keep things out... it was to keep his target in. Other excuses, other reasons Rick or any of the Ricks might have given for the CFC, well... Rick lies.
Rick has everyone we know, all his loved ones trapped in his bullshit, making his issues everyone's issues. "Evil"Morty wanted out. Just wanted to walk away and determine his own destiny.
I loved the finale, it was a bit expository at times but I understand the purpose of that. I think next season will further the character development and arc of Rick, maybe having him start to atone for some of the actions of other Ricks
Wouldn't it be hilarious if the reason why Rick sealed off his Multiverses (where he's a genius) into a Central Finite Curve is because he's isolating himself away from his most hated nemesis (not Mr. Nimbus). This nemesis being the most smartest and most dangerous man in the whole Univers. With the exception of the ones Rick sealed off, where said nemesis also has his dumbest versions where he can push around. Yes! The ultimate God-like dictator of the whole Rick and Morty Multiverse...
Jerry!
honestly that is a possibility
i would be terrified
I mean, if our reality us like rick and morty then yes, that is true and that isn't true at the same time. Think about some universe where instead of rick and morty it Jerry and morty and rick is the dumb basic one.
I'd kind of hoped that Evil Morty's escape from the central finite curve would've actually broken it. That would be a smoother setup for new big threats emerging and Rick losing his top dog position. Now they're gonna have to spend at least some time explaining how the curve got broken down if they want to use threats from outside it. I'm also gonna predict there'll be some new institution of Ricks banding together that has new implications, or it's gonna be more of a Rick Battle Royale since there's no group of Ricks stopping other Ricks from, for instance, taking over the life of our Rick while that Rick is still alive.
For me the color of the yellow portal indicates the absence of Rick in the System.
Rick’s color is blue and Morty is yellow; together they are green.
Crazy episode I love how they pulled the wool over our heads.
I've seen the newest Episode and i wanna say:
'Evil' is a funny word to use for Evil Morty.
I mean, anyone here who remembers the End-Boss of
the Show 'Supernatural'? If i remember correctly,
this Morty-Breeding-Machine and the End-Bosses Obsession
with a certain 2 Brothers is very, very, very similar.
I can't help but remember the line in "Rick Potion #9" where our Rick and Morty jump into the place of the dead Rick and Morty and Rick says "We can only do that a few more times" Which had always puzzled me because they spoke about the infinite universes as if they were infinite. But now we know that's not true, that line adds up and I wonder if that was intentional or just really good backwards compatibility
I mean the central finite curve is mentioned as far back as season 1, so I imagine a fair bit of the meaning of it was already thought of.
Honestly a few lines of dialogue suddenly make sense when watched back with what we now know. Like Bird Persons wedding where BP ducked Beth's questions about whether Rick had ever mentioned her.
Besides it being a in joke about them acknowledging it being lazy writing. There is logic to it in the sense that the object of reality hoping was just to slide in Unnoticed. Which requires a timeline with minimal differential other than not surviving the fixed event.
So the line “we can only do this a few more times” is referring to the rate of differential between the realities which increases the more they do it and decreases the successful assimilation into the reality.
@@eeyuup I thought it was a meta joke.
But the central finite curve should be an infinite amount of universes... lets say we have our multiverse. Somebody want to seperate every universe where rick is the smartest man. This will also be an infinite amount of universes where rick is the smartest man (CFC).
But i dont understand why it is called ‘finite’ curve if it clearly cannot be finite
I love how when they escaped the Citadel C-137 is the only Rick onboard, the rest are Morty’s.
I mean, if these other threats that can outdo Rick ever come into contact with him, wouldn't that mean game over for Rick? Because if Rick was more powerful than these potential threats, then they would've been part of this finite curve. So this would imply that Rick cannot match the power of these threats and so would definitely lose, right?
7:00 the concept of being out classed no matter what shouldn't be a mind blower to qoute Qui Gon " theres always a bigger fish"
Let's dive in, Rick and Morty's writing team just blew the doors of creativity wide open with this one. Even if there are other beings in the "omniverse"(someone quoted it for the other side of infinity that Rick cut off) that are more dominant, can we just take a moment to grasp the concept of filtering universes and blocking specific ones from the rest.
It's something that Rick put in place by building the Citadel, so in other words, the central finite curve has been maintained for less time than we think, maybe like 20 years tops. Meaning that before that event, Ricks were running around the omniverse getting into conflicts with anything and everything.
Just a thought, the Rick who murdered the family of C-137 wasn't caught and that's why Rick is so depressed, that Rick is still out there in the omniverse and he will make a comeback.
There's honestly so much to unpack in terms of show-lore.
Possible topics to explore include: Evil Rick is alive(the one who murdered Diane and Beth), God-level tech to filter universes, Rick stopping his manhunt to make himselves happy, the Omniverse, is there even an Earth to go back to, CFC(central finite curve) is destroyed so what is left there, are there entities who noticed C-137's actions and reacted. I am SO excited for the future of the show!
Theyre gonna make an episode where the characters are straight up knock offs like mick and doherty
what if the rick who killed C-137 rick's family was evil morty's rick
@@disjtr would make sense
Other writers should feel ashamed.
Eventually I think we will get a solo episode with Evil Morty exploring the other side of the central finite curve
I love how Evil Morty talks about being different and sick of Rick, but he's just like him. He could be doing what he's doing for all Mortys, but in the end he's just out for himself.
He really is the Rickest Morty, because he can't see the problem right in front of him.
He’s the mortiest morty
@@stove2636 not rlly he's the rickest Morty
He's not actively making hit terrible for a multiverse worth of mortys, he killed many of them but he erased a significant amount of the ricks who had a hold on the mortys everywhere else too, he didn't SEAL THE MULTIVERSE, and his one goal is to leave rick's playground instead of having control over a section of the multiverse himself
He's a selfish morty, not a rick-like, not even close to the rickiest morty
i think hes just the product of having to put up with rick so many times. the whole side of their universe revolves around him. he wanted to get out to finally have control of his life. obviously its nuts that he didnt care about the other morty's at all but well. theyve made the name evil morty canon for a reason i guess lmao
i really like how they explained the central finite curve, because previously the only two bits of information we had were that it comprised "every dimension with a rick-like entity" (according to our rick) and that simple rick came from outside of it. knowing that it REALLY means any dimension where rick is the smartest being makes a lot of sense, because of course he'd define a "rick-like entity" as the smartest being in his home dimension
Rick built the CFC to ensure Rick's within it dont mess with other Ricks who chose to be with their family. As that's exactly what our Rick chose.
The Cfc consists of only Rick's who chose to be the smartest being in the universe or were forced too. Rick built it to imprison himself and all the bad Rick's from harming the good ones. Had evil morty known this I wonder his reaction.
2:08 “I just connected with that story”
Had the hots for Captain Planet as a kid too huh? 😂
Lmaoooo
I really loved this last episode, and my favorite part is when Morty see's how Beth and Diane died and Rick's just like now everyone can stop talking about it, lol really showing how frustrated the creators are with people making theories and how people have been saying that backstory could be real every since season 3, overall this has actually been my absolute favorite season , and the first episode of season 5 is probably my favorite episode of all time
Why would the creators be frustrated by fans making theories.
@@danialdehghani9640 Dan Harmon has stated that he loves that fans have such an interest in the show but at the same time it is very frustrating when fans guess the twists and turns because then they have to rewrite stuff, or up the ante so people don't see everything coming
@@mr.waffles8739 rewriting the story just because some people did a theory that is true is one of the most stupidest thing a writer can do. Theorizing is a part of the experience. There are millions of people theorizing and one of them will eventually be true. If you try to re write based of that you'll end replacing a really good story with sth you didn't plan. And most of the times not planning will end up being a disaster. And predictability doesn't ruin a story at all. I really hate it when writers try to be unpredictable then coming up with sth that doesn't make any sense. I personally rather the story be predictable but make sense than it being unpredictable but makes no sense.
@@danialdehghani9640 tell that to Dan Harmon, I agree with with you, but as long as the shows still good I don't really care if they rewrote shit
So basically Rick managed to rig all of existence so that the one constant is that he always has a Morty for his exploits . . . and it took an alternate Morty to finally break the system
Another analogy for capitalism
Rick built the CFC to ensure Rick's within it dont mess with other Ricks who chose to be with their family. As that's exactly what our Rick chose.

Theory: the Rick that Rick is looking for is in the other half of the multiverse, which is why C137 never found him
