Shit. Yeah I realized I pronounced Jotun incorrectly. I was too focused on trying to pronounce all the other really weird words in Norse Mythos that I biffed it on one of the easier ones. The irony is not lost on me. 🙃
@@TheAshenHollow I bought it on Steam for $20 and have ~300 hours into the game. It was a gamble for me because previously I hadn't enjoyed survival games. I also thoroughly enjoy my time with the game!
Yupp didn’t even know about Valheim 2 months ago. Lowly console gamer here and saw it on the store. Gave it a try and I’m obsessed now. Im a roofer and do many other parts when a house is being built too like framing and concrete. This games building system just does something for me that I can’t explain. No other survival game like it!!! Great game.
I think what's interesting about the release of the Ashlands is the expanded lore to other biomes and the hinting towards the main antagonist of the game. As of course Fader is the father of all drakes, but was also a mighty king of the mightiest kingdom in all of Valheim. Since the gods had abandoned the realm, the people of this land saw this drake as a god instead. One day though, when his scouts traveled across the Deep North, they came across a naked and shivering child sitting against a tree. This kid was dubbed the Winter Child and brought to Fader, with them believing he was a good omen. However, Fader would converse with the boy in whispers so quiet that no one else could hear what was said. What is known though is that after, Fader became far more ruthless and tyrannical. This was until his own thanes led an uprising against him, attempting to kill the Winter Child as well. This led to a long and gruesome civil war that resulted in the Ashlands we see today. It was for this reason thar Moder fled to the mountains at the peak of the world, seeking asylum from the conflict. This is why Fader's trophy laments about being promised a grand destiny, but only being met with regret and ruin alongside his altar describing how he was a grand ruler who's heart was warped by madness
I just love how each of odin's enemy's had been defeated, except for the queen. Either she didnt exist when odin was slaying his enemies, she went under the radar, or she was too powerful and had to be sealed away. It really sets her up to be this very powerful being if the latter is to be believed, and makes the mislands that much more interesting.
Imagine if your Valheim character’s story was a canonical part of Norse myth. Somehow they would have to explain the Viking that ran around insisting on using fists yelling “Talk shit get hit.”
May I say, great work on this one bud. From the video and audio, To the transitions. Well put together! The amount of players added to there game off your video alone, is substantial. Keep it up👍
Another great video. I originally didn't have much interest in Valhiem but now that I know the lore is connected to Norse mythos I might have to look into it more.
Amazing work on this video. I love the lore of Valheim. But I do despise the Mistlands when it comes to gameplay wise.. Not being able to see far when there is cliffs everywhere, and how you need to be on the same level as enemies to be able to hit or parry them, makes Mistlands as an biome.. worse then Swamp. Swamp was horrible with the constant rain.. but I rather go through swamp over and over again instead of dealing with Mistlinds Thick Mist, and cliffs, and constant Draining of stamina because of the cliffs. Also Some of the enemies in Mistland are pure torture to deal with.. like the giant insect that spawns ticks That one is an pain in the ass to deal with when you can't even see where it is, and can't fully protect against all the Ticks he spawns. I truly never gotten so mad at an biome in Valheim as I gotten with Mistlands. Again Swamp was nothing compared to the BS of Mistlands.
Yeah Mistlands is a joke if only they made wisp light to cover 2x area that would be nice, constant stamina drain due to tarain sucks and you cant really fight from above cliff cause enemies can fly... except seeker brutes.
Is this your interpretation? Because it isn't the game lore. Especially with what we get in the Ashlands. You aren't the first person Odin has sent here, you get to see some of the stories of them trying to do what you are doing. Also that some of the people's stayed and tried to make kingdoms of their own that then the Gods destroyed because they thought they had the powers to rival them. The land has not been out of the sight of the Gods as the kingdoms that are gone were due to them directly as we are told, Odin burned the lands, they sowed salt into the soil so nothing may grow, they sent floods to drown out what remained; thats literally on just a single stone. The forsaken are also undying, so they are just a test to see if you are truly worthy of Odin. Because that is how the story starts, you didn't die in battle so you can't go to Valhalla, but Odin believes you deserve another chance, so you get brought to the 10th world instead of Hel or elsewhere
It's not like the game gives him a whole lot to go off of and almost all of the lore in valheim is found through reading the runestones or the flavor text of items.

don't worry! you'll get there ^^ looking forward to seem more from other games you like :)
This makes me happy you're covering this game. I've been playing it since it was put into early access on Steam.
I haven't enjoyed a game as much as I've been enjoying Valheim in quite a long while!

Odin hates the Queen so fuckin much that even tho the queen is sealed he is like "fuck that. Open it up and beat her down."
xD
She turned him down in high school and he never got over it.
Kinda like when my wife traps a spider to make me kill it
Absolutely awesomely well done, have not seen the lore of Valheim explained as well as you have done.
Thank you! =D
Valheim is such an amazing game, and this video just made it so much better! Love Norse Mythology!
Thanks dude! 😊
It's definitely one of the better and more interesting mythologies out there!

then some random dead viking walks in and proceeds to destroy the queen
Bro that opening could be a trailer. Makes me want to buy it twice.
I appreciate that dude! =)

Running around killing greydwarves
‘ thats a lotta shit to talk for someone made out of resources im tryna harvest’
Great video. It'd be good to see an updated one for Ashlands

I've been waiting for this, nice!
Not enough Valheim content, especially the lore. Happy to see you're the one doing it. Love your stuff, mang~!
Thanks dude!
I am hopelessly addicted to this game. Its cozy with mods and challenging on regular mode; both are wholly immersive.
You're absolutely right! So many fun and vastly different ways to enjoy the game! 😊
@@TheAshenHollow your video made the immersion so much deeper! Thank you!!
Great Valheim Lore story. Since Ashlands is out you should do the Ashlands lore next.
Can’t wait to repeat all this lore with the boys while playing valheim
That sounds like a blast!
Ooooh, this is really rad, nice work!

9:48 not a home for the dvergers. They home from Svaltafar, found their way to Valheim, and on resource-gathering expeditions
I bought this game just a month after its release. And this was the first game I had bought
Excellent writing, good job.
Thank you! =D
Can you cover death stranding the sequel got announced and a lore explained video would be cool
FUCK YEAH MAN !!! Let’s fucking gooooooooooo
Nice video, whats the song playing during the outro? Thanks

I'm not reading your essay because you don't know how to read upload dates.
Ah Valheim, a fun game
More didgeridoos! More throat singing!... More videos in general I say! (slams mead tankard)
Skol!!!
@@TheAshenHollowdo you know what that song is at the start and end of the video is? I know it's by envato elements, but I couldn't find it...
The why of Eikthyr is because he represents nature. You can't control nature.
💯
Ragnarok is coming
✌️ promo sm
I expected a little more than simply reading the runestones in the game, this is lazy content, where's the actual in depth analysis of the lore?
You're as dumb as your shitty Overwatch highlights! xD

Such a lame story, but such a fun game.
