There is no such thing a "basic" or "professional" tools. You either have the tool that does the job or you dont. The only differance is longevity and price, and good tools dont have to cost a arm or a leg.
@@66mikkim will all do respect, not sure I agree. To give you an example, an internal cable routing kit from Park Tool has the appropriate magnets and copper covers to work in all frames, including the M40x carbon which does not like magnets. Some advice on setting up a wheeltop rd. The spacing for a 11,12,13,14 speeds are programmed in and industry standards. If you need to micro adjust/fine tune gears you may have gotten the initial calibration off. Once I realized this I can set up a new cassette in seconds. If shifting is a little off in a few gears try micro adjusting the initial cog in initial setup the direction you need it to go before fine tuning gears. Also don't forget to set the stop screws once set up. Great build! Also I love both my tantan bikes. Great price for what you get. I have an x43 and an x40.
I've had quite a few frames (mtb and road) from China - my view is that if you stick with the well know and respected brands (some mentioned in the video, others too) that don't pretend to be something else - eg like this frame! - then the quality is good. In general the build may be a little more tricky than top end boutique ones but compared to what most people actually ride, it's on a par. Great video - very interested to see how it copes on future rides - that seat mast section is an obvious risk given the relative lack of bracing/triangulation - I'm sure Trek have designed and built it to last on their legit ones but not so confident on these fake ones.
Thank you for the information and feedback! My next goal with this bike is to compare its performance to the original. After that, I plan to test it out on the road and cobblestones.
Done this before a few years back but the thought of the frame cracking mid ride is always there in the back of your mind so you never push your luck by pushing the watts. Riding my brakes down the entire hill so I don't die.
If anything, these frames should be as robust or better as these clones frames have been analyzed before and use a thicker carbon layup. So they don't have the same performance characteristics but they're usually a lot stiffer due to using cheaper and having thicker carbon
@viet0ne Lol? You think Aliexpress frames have been "analyzed" more than a company like Trek/Cannondale that was manufactured in China, sent to TW/Germany then sold in US? And that's not how carbon fiber works. High tier carbon is stronger, the same amount of carbon of a higher tier is stiffer therefore being lighter.
Hello, beautiful presentation. I posted a video about my Ali fake bike tests. I built and road tested 10 fake bikes. I find the same construction difficulties. I also know the CSC wheels well, they are very good for the price. For the road test the results are astonishing. I explain that too. I was able to compare with authentic bikes.
Your components choice are very close to what I use on my Chinarello build. Aside from chain rub on the front derailleur when I am adjusting my drivetrain on bike stand when gears are at big-big, it works pretty well. These fake frames are decently build, they requires work such as shimming caliper mounts and routing cabling through handlbars are a pain. But aside from that, they rides like typicall budget Chinese carbon frameset, good enough for trainning and commuting.
@@BikeVibes4You I use 50-34 chainring. The wheeltop's fd's limit is 50t, at least that's what Chinese users agree with. The mounting point is the limiting factor. To use anything larger, you probably need a front derailleur riser so that you can setup your front derailleur a bit higher.
I think a lot of riders will end up doing this kind of build although the worries of QC could hinder the enjoyment. Personally I think the bike looked amazing and at the fraction of the cost 👍
That particular disc you used on the front has an unusually thick center carrier, which is why it rubbed. I don't use them anymore because of that. Having said that, the 140 has a normally sized centre carrier.
Fun video :) I'm surprised the Trek shop accepted to help you fix the issue with the headset. Easy question to assess how much you trust the frame: would you ride the Ronde van Vlaanderen with it? (PS: I live in Belgium and wouldn't mind trying it if the size is a good match. I'm 1.78m tall)
I ride a fake Cipollini and I love it. Dreaming of owning a real one in the future, but these frames are just too damn expensive. Bike industry is an off-ripping hoax lately, really.
In the past I have had good expériences with fake Ali frames. This one overall is well built, but I already had to repair one in the seatpost area, the "suspended" part... It cracked after few km. Apparently was a poor carbon layer displacement, resulting in a thinner wall thickness

Hopefully someone with the genuine article will meet up with you for a comparison. Inspired by the first video in this series, I did price out a build with the legitimate Chinese brands (both aluminum and carbon), I couldn't get under the 1200-1800 USD price point I was looking at for a entry level gravel bike, shipping costs definitely added up a lot, for a frame or wheelset those can easily run $100+ to the USA. Then my hot water heater died, taking the project's funding away. So I got a $400 7 year old road bike secondhand 😐
My old rim brake bike is still faster than this build, so don’t feel discouraged from using a second-hand bike-there’s a unique charm to be found in them! :)
Wheeltop is a pretty legit brand in China. It was famous for its reliable OEM in the early years. Their new electronic shifting groupset has a good reputation, especially the rear derailleur, which can be fine-tuned by micro translation on each speed level, has a good shifting efficiency, and is very light. However, due to Shimano's unique HG+ patent, no brand can be as smooth as UT and Dura-Ace but shimano itself.
i think you can still use a shimano cassette and chain and they will work wonders with them, the shifting magic is on the ramps of the cassette and chain, not the deraileurs and it will be like $100 more at most with a 105 cassette and an ultegra chain (the most cost effective combo)
I think they’re basic carbon wheels-nothing fancy. I haven’t ridden a lot of kilometers with them yet, but I also have the same CSC wheels for a V-brake, and they’re 6 years old and still work fine.

Good performance. *the D272 ratchets are compatible with DT replacement ratchets/springs btw. For Value CSC has been an A+ purchase so far. Please report back your experience.

Thats is just vile how much profit some do, imposing groups and wheels etc.
Love the build but damn! Another person allaying grease to places that don't need it lol. Seriously you need more grease on that spindle, A thin film would not have been enough lol. Nope make sure there is a thick layer of grease on all non moving surfaces like the bearing seats lol. God why not ware gloves to look professional also? Sorry watching people smear grease on parts that don't need it is killing my ocd. That bike will be a complete mess and dirty to take apart. Full of nasty grease that served zero purpose. All you need is a thin film for anti size and corrosion.
Put a brand name having a fake bike and showing this online just ridiculous… I can fully understand if you cannot afford an original one but bothering a fake one just without a logo will be okay… reproducing something rather than just developing another level of effort
I respect your opinion and understand where you're coming from.
