At its core, Days Gone is about survivors and what makes them human: desperation, loss, madness, betrayal, friendship, brotherhood, regret, love - and hope. It’s about how even when confronted with such enormous tragedy they find a reason to live. Hope never dies. You play as Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter, traveling through vast and diverse landscapes in the high desert of the Pacific Northwest. In a narrative that begins two years after a global pandemic, Deacon is facing a brutal struggle for survival in hostile environments filled with infected humans and animals known as Freakers. The threats in Days Gone are dynamic and change with extreme weather and time of day. Trails become muddy in the rain, Freakers become stronger in the snow and more numerous at night, and day brings more ambushes from marauders. Players must consider these variables for each encounter to strategize their approach at each attempt. Many different items and weapons can be crafted using items found in the field, including brutal melee weapons and traps. Customizable weapons and skills offer true freedom in how the game is played.

The soundtrack features music by Nathan Whitehead and includes features from rising artists Jack Savoretti, Billy Raffoul & Zander Reese, as well as “Days Gone Quiet,” performed by Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi. The game is developed by SIE Bend Studio.
The composer NATHAN WHITEHEAD says: “The ideas that define the score are the tenacity of the human spirit and the value of relationships. Early in the process John Garvin, creative director at Sony’s Bend Studio, described to me how the game isn’t simply about surviving, it also examines why we want to survive. When I heard that, I was instantly excited about all the places the music could go. I found it really interesting to be navigating the survival aspect and also this introspective aspect at the same time. The Pacific Northwest setting is absolutely beautiful and it really felt like the score needed to connect to this environment as well. Deacon and the environment seemed to call for an organic, lived-in sound with a touch of Americana.”

Yeah, I have no idea what the heck was going through people's minds when they played this. From beginning to end a masterpiece. I'd say the second half of the game is really when it kicks into overdrive, but I enjoyed every step of the way. Might be in my top 3 greatest games of all times.

I don't get why people and critics didn't like this game, i'm playing in on PC and i'm already a fan of this amazing game.
I love this game too. Just beat all the storylines 100%. But damn those hordes were a pain in the ass yet addictive to complete. RPD+Chicago chopper+napalm+running like a bitch = GOD level
I think the reason is the gameplay .... after some time it becomes just too repetitive . It becomes like you are doing the same thing in different locations plus while the story is good , the script fails to make the players care about the characters much . That being said it also has some good things going for it . I felt genuine fear whenever I saw the hoard and the world of this game is perhaps the best looking ever .
It's really nice, great gameplay, good story, good graphics. Cause a lot of assholes that left a lot of bad feedbacks the producers will not release a new chapter...
Boring predictable story; 2/3 of the game Boozers arm , 1/3 your wife like no one saw it coming that she is alive. In 60hrs game please finish me.
All quality life upgrades are locked until the very last part of the game . From Controlling your bike and your tank size for fuel, much much better weapons.
Anything you do is disconnected from the world, you finish all camps nothings, you finish all hordes nothing, you finish the game and you have your wife and Boozer on the coach in infinite coma no interaction nothing..
Gameplay : Hordres ? Cool yes? Well not really the game decide to give you first horde mission like after 40 hr gameplay and trust me once you finished the 3 hordes in main story then thats it,if you beat those you got your fun from hrodes which is heart pumping first couple ones but all the other 80 hordes or whatever is just repetitive especially when you know the drill now roll throw run shoot run shoot run shoot ..its really not that hard or different is the same thing over and over again.
This game is 6/10 for me. Best moments in this game when you ran into some random hordes and you are under level those were really good other than that average at best.
I have a feeling it comes down to it being a Sony produced game. It's a great game but it's not as polished as other PS' recent titles, which is a bit unfair considering this is Bend's biggest game in scope coming from developing handhelnd titles for almost a decade.
Leaving the main menu is harder than dealing with a horde of freakers

When I got the game on steam, and I opened the menu, I sat through the whole song in awe and I knew it was going to be a fantastic game. I was right. This game definitely has one of my absolute favorite video game themes of all time. Criminally underrated, such a shame how much damage critics can do...

This song makes me cry every time, thinking of my good old days. All those good times. Things are a lot different now and I became solitary, life has changed so much and it’s depressing. Another good thing about this song, when I’m listening and crying hard, the last 30 seconds or so of the song, give me the strength I need to keep fighting. Flex your muscles, roar with your emotion and let it change you but not defeat you

True waited so long for this masterpiece...worth waiting and worth the money
I'm loving the game so far. There are only 2 issues I have with it though. The bikes never going faster than what feels like 35 mph (even with upgrades) and the single digit frame rate every 5-10 minutes.

I'm playing Days Gone only now. I have played 30 hours and am in the middle of the game. I can say that's my favourite game ever played. I enjoy every second of this world, of this story, of this music and motorcycle. I love it. Best game ever in my opinion. The soundtrack is just a masterpiece. The feeling of driving a motorcycle is just a pleasure. Many thanks to those who made this game, story and music 👏👏👏🏆🥇👍

@@AntonioLeist the game ends with a very big twist though, and I wonder how they would continue it. To be honest I'm a bit bitter how lazily the writing handles Deacon and Sarah's plot once you reach south.

@Kappaeff I thought the same thing I just completed the game and after watching the story in front my eyes it would make a good movie but it would have to have a small budget due to everything happening and china brings in the boxoffice let's just hope theres a lot of PS4 Days Gone fans to petition to make a movie I salute you my man.

@@Nightwing-tf1hl because of the combat and the zombies and the hordes and the weapon variety and the bike and the open world. Tlou is a story driven game, you can't do much beyond that. Gameplay is simply better in DG. Also the graphics in DG are better than the TLOU 1. I have played both on my pc and i fail to understand how tlou has better graphics than DG

Never knew this game will hit me this much. It's a beautiful masterpiece. Of course it has some open-world modern game flaws but story and atmosphere is something I haven't experience in a long time and this amazing soundtrack just adds to it.

I felt genuine loss when I finished this game because I knew it was over. The immersive story and experience were amazing. Honestly it's been difficult to get back into gaming since I've finished because other games feel so shallow.
I here you, i just did like the sixth run through....All moments of this game...hold up to the test of time in game playing history.
You still have hordes to hunt, NERO recorders scattered around the map, search for parts to create the IPCA secret gun, and the secret cinematic of the final mission

i can't imagine what i felt during playing this piece of art. The ambience, the post apocalyptic world which is not too far from real one if something went wrong, just overall too good to be true game, but it's true

This theme suits for the story so much. The start with a piano is Deacon´s "casual life" during the apocalypse. Then he gets the new destiny about Sarah, that she is alive. His emotions are graduating, then he finally meets her. And the drop, that is like he must rescue her from The Arch. Absolutely genial. This game is so underrated.
I hope in a couple of years they reconsider and make days gone 2 🙏 🙏 🤲 I want days gone 2

Was a beautiful game. Some bugs here and there, like a runner bursting from the ground like a hell hound and throwing me off the bike.
But god, I stayed up till 6am every night because I couldn't put the controller down.
The game will be a solid 10/10 when the bugs are patched up. Right now its still a 9 for me.
Yeah as someone who played this a year later I'm glad that I played this at a time where the patches fixed a massive amount of the issues. I know it made many who disliked or lost interest to the game change there opinion of it. Now many feel this is in there top ten games of the ps4.

I remember when my older brother had got me this game for my bday but i wasn't allowed to play this game because it had cussing and violence, so I had to give the game to my older sister and watch her play it and man those were the days but now I am allowed to play it and I get to have all the fun my sister did and get to experience all the stuff my sister did. overall this game is 10/10 and deserves a sequel.

The boiling tension of having freakers breathing down your neck while you're trying to hard to out run them. Omg this game has an effect on me even after playing it 3 times.

Already two years of this wonderful game, there is no doubt that it is spectacular, gameplay, story and of course soundtrack
This was the first game in a long while where after booting it up for the first time i simply sat at the main menu and listened to this theme. I knew I was in for a treat right then and there.
