The series is made by a studio names FrontWing. They mostly do visual novels, and yes they do have the ecchi parts in the story. The anime studio is 8Bit, who has done Slime Tensura, Irregular at Magic High, and Infinite Stratos.

Yeah this MC is "sigma" without the cringe. He fully knows what's going on and how to read the room. Half the time his edge is used as a punch line or something to laugh at and that's exactly how he intends it to be taken. He's able to poke at the girls in a useful to them sort of way that's helpful. Everything he does means something because that's the kind of guy he is. I hold him and Tatsuya in the same sort of league. I didn't know what to make of this show when I first watched it.

This anime is so underrated, I had no idea what to expect when I first watched this but the storyline and character development is really good, they really flesh out the backstory of the characters to explain exactly why they are like they are.

This anime dangerous but its good series and good story worth to watch. I rewatch like 3-5 times and its still good, its dark, the drama was great and there's action and over ecchi 😂
The VN takes between 25-60+ hours depending on the path you take and if you want to explore all of the heroine's storylines.
I can’t believe you’re actually reacting to this show. I actually love this show so much. Also, I wanna say it applies to most of the female VAs for this, but Sakaki’s VA also does hentai voice acting, which probably isn’t surprising given what you’ve seen
I can't believe I'm 5 days late to this reaction! but hell yeah! This serie is one of the best "Harem" done right in my personal opinion and how great some of the other characters are, the good the bad and all.

Grisaia is peak both anime and games
When you said this is an older series I was expecting something along the lines of Code Gease, but 2015? Damn, I'm getting old myself then
Yooo I played the visual novel for this lmao. I played amane,yumiko and sachis routes and then got burnt out from reading too much. Amane best girl and story route it's like not even close, sachi is second but they absolutely butchered her story in the anime ngl but I will let it slide cuz they did the amanes route justice minus the final season 1 villain they made him perverted in the anime for no reason in VN hes not perverted like at all just crazy and yumikos route is like least favorite like it's meh and the anime version is also kinda meh. The bad endings are also kinda brutal i remember during the amane route I made a choice and thought I was about to get the bad ending and so I reset and picked the other choice only to realize the initial choice was the good ending and the VN baited me and ye it was pretty brutal. And I'm sure u guys finished the show by now and probably realized that the author has a pissing fetish there was already hints of it but there is a s3x scene in the amane route where pee is involved which solidified it for me other than that pretty enjoyable for the most part
The anime itself is very chaotic (story-wise) because it comes from a visual novel.
Think of the story as if you are following the main path and at some point (it was like 30+ hours into the novel) you get to pick between 1 of the heroine or continuing down the path.
This repeats until you are forced to go with the last heroine.
So in the Novel you get to explore 1 horoine's path at a time and the story changes based on that. What they did in the anime is they make you go through all the heroine's path while not really commiting to any. This makes the anime way more convoluted and WAY less poignant.
Because of time constraint they gloss over some of their stories in ways that makes it so much less emotional than reading it. Amane's path was especially emotional (although they pretty much all are).
When I watched this when it first aired I was suspecting that just like most visual novel adaptions it would be a one and done ... then the story continued through a prequel movie (Labyrinth of Grisaia) and a follow-up series (Eden of Grisaia). About 75% of them only last one season but then we get standouts like Steins; Gate, Higurashi, Grisaia and Fate/Stay which become the most standout of anime.

Yumiko's VA is not Chiwa Saito (Senjougahara), it's Ryoko Tanaka who does a lot of 18+ voice work since Grisaia is adapted from the eroge (18+ visual novel) and she rarely voices in anime unless it's an anime adaptation of a visual novel.
