They are now putting the name lists online. If you know which unit he served in then it would help to see if John Hunt Morgan was his commander. I'm giving you a website that you can put into your address bar. Please remove the spaces for the complete address www.members.tripod . com/~Morgans_Men/units .htm Or you can find it under the title "Morgan's Cavalry Units - Tripod". Happy hunting. @@Kytnliving Thank you for the link. I suspect that a lot of men from Kentucky changed their names when they served with the confederacy. That was to avoid prosecution from the law and harassment from their communities. I would even venture to say their were units that had no names or affiliations with the official confederate army. That was also to avoid detection and prosecution. But I will check the links you provided.
@@lonnieclemens8028 that also could be true as the majority of the mountains supported the Union side of the war. There were pockets though that supported the Confederate side. And those people who supported the Union inside of those pockets were forced to retreat to Mount Sterling.
This was a very interesting video and article to write. I felt like a writer from the movie Young Guns or Dillinger, or one of those Saturday Morning serial cowboy movies where I was writing for the villain instead of the hero . Like Billy the Kid, Jessie and Frank James, Bonny and Clyde, and all of the other outlaws, John Hunt Morgan captured a nation.
I have not heard about that one. I'll have to look it up thank you. It really would not surprise me though. I think of John Hunt Morgan as a pirate kind of character in history myself.
