I have loved Jackson Browne since I first heard his voice in 1972. The first song I heard was "Doctor My Eyes" on the first album. There is a song on that record which I fell in love with, about a girl named Jamaica who was a childhood friend of Jackson. The song is "Jamaica, Say You Will." Eight years later I gave birth to my second daughter. I had been saving that name in my heart, and I named her Jamaica. We moved across the Bay from San Francisco to the beautiful county of Marin, named for a Miwok Chief. We heard of another girl named Jamaica who lived in the area. Many years later I finally met her and asked why her parents named her Jamaica. She said, "Because of the song by Jackson Browne."

Thanks for uploading; Christy is one of only a few singers who can take another artist's song and do a version that is both unique and yet, equally good to the original. George Michael, Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams, Metallica's lead singer...Christy is indeed in elite company; at least that's my opinion.

Yeah, Christy is a man who never compromised his principles and took on "politically incorrect" causes, even at the risk monetary loss. I truly respect him as both a man and, of course, a talented artist. I was fortunate enough to get his autograph in September 2000 and have my picture taken with him....

The Australian ABC radio station has a recording of Christy singing this in Sydney in the 80s or 90s. THAT recording, of him, alone, with just his guitar is THE BESY version of this song. Period. Look for it and listen - it's spine tingling! Truly! 👍
