As a lifelong Joan Baez fan, this is--to me--Baez's voice at its most beautiful. Most interestingly, unlike many singers, her voice at its most beautiful wasn't during its prime (extraordinary as it was then). No, this is it. Aged slightly; warm, shimmering, amber-colored, brimming over with feeling. Amazing. And Browne, too. What a song.
This duet is particularly precious. Two artists I've literally grown up with doing a song that unfortunately still has relevance today. Let the music keep our spirits high Amen.
You are write there is no better song writer than Jackson Browne, his heart , and humanity , and ability to speak truth to power is in match. Nothing but respect for Him and the beautiful music he has given to us all.
My god what a magnificent song. So beautiful - so mournful and uplifting at the same time. Not just my favorite Jackson Browne song, very possibly one of my favorite songs of all.
I am 6 years younger thn JB,inthe early seventies,I had been disowned by my parents,I was adrift on journeys to nowhere,I soaked up everything he did in the70s,& I dont know what I would have done without him !!
Joan Baez is the big sister I never had. Each of her albums was a letter from further down the road of life we all travel. Way before the internet, it was a source of information from outside. Jackson Browne is my soul twin, learning and growing and, now, growing old together. So many of us here in the comments say Jackson Browne writes the soundtrack of our lives. How true.
Never saw this one. My all time fave.. My beloved husband and I use to do this song all the time. I must say this version brought tears remembering our version. Life's just not the same without him😢 beautiful version I can hear my parts and I can hear his as well. What a song.💓

I feel like I've known her forever; I just turned 80 and she's just 3 months younger. Jackson seems like a younger brother who amazes us all. Along with a few others, these people are the inspirations of my life. Thanks for the music, lovely people!

I haven't seen this one before, very moving. I've seen you both in concert over the years and together you've created magic. I'm so moved by the words of your music as well as the composition of the song with just about every one you've ever done. It seems that your work is even more profound at this July 14, 2022 date. Thank you so much for continuing to make music.

Absolutely outstanding performance. Love Joan Baez & Jackson Browne performing together! Is this on any of Joan's or Jackson's albums (as being performed as a duo.)? I know that Joan recorded it on her album but not as a duo with Jackson.

Jackson Browne’s music was so powerful and on point to me growing up. He’s still my all time favorite singer songwriters to this day. Rock on JB
Oh boy...one of the most powerful song that I ever heard...♥️
Loved Joan Baez since the 60's and Jackson Browne since the 1970's.
Been listening to them for such a long time.
A great rendition of a classic song that never gets old. Doing it with Joan Baez made it even better!

This song is so relevant today… we need to listen carefully to the words. One of my favourite songs & the best version of it.

A lot of his songs make you feel this way. One is better than the next. My opening farewell is incredibly poignant.
Thank you, Jackson and Joan for setting us on a path of thinking to melodies with didn't think possible

How absolutely amazing. Alive never heard this duet before. One of the best songs ever. And two of the best artists. Wow.
Combine two outstanding musicians - and outstanding souls - with some truly wonderful lyrics, and you might just be lucky enough to be there

There is not a better songwriter
True
My favorite. And the music that carries his lyrics are perfect. I do so much enjoy his live content. He surrounds himself with great talent and heart.

This song is a great act of American prophecy.

,always had a crush on her. Great song.
Joan’s voice still pristine! I know this is a bit old. its at Joan’s 75th birthday at Beacon Hill.
Way older! About 1989 in Ventura!
She's still wonderful. I saw her during her farewell tour in 2019. Absolutely amazing.
So good. So, so good.
love this version better than the original. the duet is magnificent
Wow! Can’t believe I’ve never seen this before. Thanks for posting!

I thought that I saw this several years ago, but no, or it disappeared like so many do on YT. Glad to have it back. Thank you. I’m lovin’ it.
All of have been we lovem😂 them both until we hear no more thanks baker

🥰🥰🥰
What is the year of this performance?
👍👍
What year was this, and where was it?
Really good but you need the fiddle for this song
Both perform better due to synergy effect.
Great harmonies but not a great fan of the warble.
Yeah, her vibrato just doesn’t work for some. If you like her voice , minus the “warble “ check out her sister Mimi Farina
wow!
