I have never been the person to comment much on youtube videos. I will write a comment down and almost press the post button, just to delete it again. I have deleted soooo many comments on your videos, and was quite proud of myself for actually commenting on your last video. I just want to comment this, even if you never gonna see it. I have followed you for quite some time and seen many of your videos. Seeing how your style and editing have evolved and changed. And even tho you are in your so called 'flop era' I still love your videos. It has been fascinating to see your content evolve and being experimented with. And I am beyond excited to see you experimenting with more new content. Keep up the good work Jesse ^^ (Also I am so sorry for my grammar, english is not at all my first language)
I was here back in 2017 when I was a huge reader and then I went for years without reading at all. When I got back into reading and come back to book tube I was so stoked to see you still making videos!! You were my favourite then and still are now, so grateful that you are still creating bookish content ❤
Gotta say, your videos are some of the ones I get most excited to watch, just because they're so lighthearted and casual. :D I've been watching since..... teens? Maybe? Young enough to have stayed up late watching Booktube and not struggle to get up the next morning. 🤣 Book I'd undo reading: Eliza and Her Monsters. Thought I'd love it, really wanted to, just wasn't for me. 😅😅 Question for you: ever considered doing an experimental reading video for indie books? 😃Lots of fantastic reads there for sure!
You do you, always!!! do whats best for you and your mental health.. love how real and down to earth you are, probably why these people here love you ;)
Hey jesse! Love your videos! Also, what's everyone reading right now? I need some recs. I'm reading The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes and it's honestly great. Really recommend!
I've rediscovered my love of reading this year and followed a lot of booktubers and booktok channels. This has become one of my favorite channels. Its so positive and cozy and it makes me wanna read so much. So thank you.
talking about the algorithm - soooo real, so relatable, you are doing so good !!!! honestly it sucks that so many good creators from the old days are getting phased out but there isn't much to be done about it other than grieve, accept your new place in the internet hierarchy, and continue to make whatever goddamn content you want! find your own joy and the people will follow
I have been watching you since October 2014 and you were (together with Kat) the first booktuber that I subscribed too. It has been amazing seeing you grow into your content and try out different things. I am just vibing and I will be vibing for forthcoming future!!
I subscribed to your channel earlier this year because I really like your style (in terms of clothing and overall the way you make your videos). You also remind me so much of one of my best friends, who I wasn’t able to talk to much since we’re long distance, so whenever I missed him and we didn’t have time to chat I’d watch one of your videos :)
You and your videos have helped me through some really anxious times. I hope you know how many people you help through just being yourself and producing your creative videos. You are a wonderful person!!! ❤
I love this laid back kind of video!! I related so hard to what you were saying about faking happiness at times because you’re a people pleaser and hate conflict 🫣 I am the same way, I absolutely hate conflict even though sometimes it needs to happen, but I felt very seen by everything you said there!
Jesse! I know this message will be repeated multiple times here and that you also know it, but man, you matter. You are so iconic to UA-cam, an absolute inspiration for me and honestly I do a happy dance every time I see you posting (although I am usually fairly shy with comments, which I am trying to change)
Take care of yourself, Jesse, after that root canal; dental work sucks! I recommend "Romancing the Duke" by Tessa Dare ( it has sone spice). I have a blog on book reviews and storytelling and a only handful of ppl look at it 😅 I continue to focus on what I want to write about and not the algorithm/buzzwords/clickbait.
Hi Jesse! I´m the kind of person that has phases where I only watch a certain type of thing, so it´s been a while since I watched your videos. Now I´m binge watching all the ones I´ve missed, and also rewatching my favourite ones. By the way, I´ve had phases where I´d watch your videos on loop. I love your content, your mind is amazingly sharp and creative and hilarious, and I´m very grateful for the way you always reignite my love for reading.
don’t doubt that people like your content and you’re amazing too. I adore your personality, you make your videos better! try new things and experiment. the videos that are coming out sound incredible, I can’t wait to watch them ❤
Jesse please don’t be discouraged by numbers! You’re one of the most original content creators nowadays. Your videos are amazing and I always admire how you put everything together. I told you this a while ago but I’ll say it again, every time you upload a video is the highlight of my day 🫶🏼
Also, I started watching you because you remind me of a friend that I lost touch with a long time ago. He was much like you, love of reading, socially reserved. You make me enjoy reading and exploring new books.
THE TITLE SCARED ME SO BAD 😭😭😭 was getting ready to write a whooole paragraph update i am now three minutes in and the urge to write a paragraph has been renewed because this really is a topic we should talk about more.
hi jesse! as someone who stopped watching you but chooses to remain subscribed with post notifications on, i’d like to assure you that it’s not because i don’t like you or your content, just that i’ve outgrown booktube. i feel like your content is focused on YA books which isn’t my preferred genre anymore. also i feel like booktok has killed booktube a bit, showing us the same generic popular books which just ruined book related content for me. despite this, i’ve always appreciated your vibe and personality so i’d rather remain subscribed as my way of supporting you as someone who has moved on. despite the drop in views, you seem better than ever!!
I used to watch your videos when i was in high school, but a few years ago fell away from reading, like 5 year reading slump. In January when I was wanting to get back into reading I came right to your channel for motivation❤️ was so happy to see you are still making videos! Keep doing what you are doing
Jesse you're basically the only youtuber I watch because your vids are just beautifully created and let me tell you your hard work is not going to go in vain. So please credit yourself for the masterpieces you create.❤
I was introduced to Booktube watching your content and back then there were so few people who actually knew that something like this existed but I was also 19 back then. Now I am 28 and my reading interests have changed over time. Once upon a time I used to love high fantasy and now I just can’t find myself even trying to pick up one. It could be also because of my experiences in life. Adulting has been super hard. Coming out of my safe bubble and entering the space of people who are always ready to exploit you has also changed my outlook towards life and that has also affected my reading taste. Nowadays I prefer watching movies as following moving pictures is easier than imagining a whole world inside my head. I really want to get out of this reading slump and go back to the days when I could fantasise all I want but Jessie you have been a huge part of my life. So thank you so much.
I started watching you in 2016 when I was 15 years old. I was recently rereading some YA books from that time and came back to your channel. I am 23 now and I just want to say that you had a huge impact on my reading life. Times when I was depressed your reviews always put a smile on my face. I’m not sure why UA-cam stopped notifying me but I am happy that you’re still making videos.
You definitely have a community here that loves you dearly. I think it's best to just view this time as the best time for you to experiment because the people who are here will stick with you and appreciate whatever you put out; it's the silver-lining! Also, don't worry about A Little Life. I read and loved it, but cannot recommend it to anyone I care for -- it hurt too much. When it comes to which book I would unread, I would have to say All the Bright Places. That book sucked and it glorified suicide and depression, I don't need that sort of negativity in my life.
Your channel was my introduction to book tube, and I've definitely had a moment where I had "grown out of you", but you made such a difference in my life and reading and media consumption, just everything! I've been enjoying more of your recent content, and it's so great to come back to the og and enjoy your videos! (I've specifically been enjoying the more sit down videos, and would love to see you make in depth reviews of books that you either love or hate. Those are my favorite videos to watch 😂)
I've had a year long reading slump. Getting back to reading I needed inspiration. Your videos always remind me how wonderful reading is. Having so much fun catching up on the channel!
I've been watching your channel for a few years now and while not every single video grabs my attention so hard I need to watch it immediately, I tend to watch them when I get around to it; when I need to unwind after work, when I have nothing to read (ignore my tbr groaning in the background), when I'm curious about your experiments. Your channel is definitely one of my comfort watches and I'm really glad you keep making videos. I also think you are cool ;) In case you're looking for experiment ideas, you could do one based on each zodiac sign's main characteristic (whichever you wish to pick) and read a matching book. Of course, "each zodiac sign" can refer to many different zodiacs, so you get to have fun with it. Or, alteratively, figure out your sign in different zodiacs, read matching books and compare how well they fit your reading style. A book I'd like to unread is a German fantasy book set in renaissance Venice, where the main character is part dragon and struggles with hiding this side of him from the public. Until one day, when he meets a person who seems to be in a similar position and tries to connect to her. The idea and the setting sounded interesting, but alas, the characters were all written incredibly horny if not outright perverted and / or predatory, the plot was barely there and there were a lot of anachronisms to boot. Now, the last thing alone can annoy me into dnf-ing a book, but combined with the other issues this just wasn't a book for me, indeed not the author for me.
I grew up with you, Christine, Kat, and Natasha! Y'all were the ones who inspired me to get into booktube and eventually booktok. And ya'll helped me keep my passion for books and reading going!
You were one of the first booktubers I found, so glad you're still around. I barely watch booktube now but every time I tune into one of your guys' videos it reminds me of how much I used to be invested in this community and how it made me fall in love with reading, glad it still exist
I’ve been watching your channel since I was 13-14, for context I’m 20 and your excitement about books is so delicious, it always gets me hyped about reading 📖
Well, I personally really really enjoy your videos! Also, I'm so happy to see Grand Master of Demonic Cultivation mentioned in this video! I really hope that this series (and other danmei/xianxia/wuxia series) will take over Booktube 😂
I’ve loved this channel since 2017, I haven’t been tuning in a lot recently and it’s definitely not because of content quality or anything like that. In fact, this is one of the only bookish platforms that still has the vibes I adore. I’ve missed this community terribly and will now spend a good few hours binge-ing Jesse content to make up for time lost. Sending lots of love, please continue doing what you are doing for as long as it brings you joy because it definitely brings a lot of us joy as well! 💛💛💛
We love your videos, Jesse! I'm glad you were able to recognise why you truly started UA-cam and how easy it is to get caught up in views and likes and comments. We appreciate you so much and you're VERY COOL. Stop saying that you're not🔪
I recently resubscribed to your channel after being subscribed in like the 2013-2016 era and I honestly prefer your newer content! you seem more authentic and that’s just such a good vibe and I’m here for it
It’s very refreshing to hear your honesty when it comes to how social media has effected you and made you feel, thank you for sharing. For me you were one of the first booktubers I started watching and through you I found so many more amazing people in the booktube world. And I still watch your videos to this day! They are so creative, beautifully edited and ascetic af so never doubt your talent and just know you will always have a supportive viewer in me 😊
You were "my first" booktuber, about 7 years ago :) after many years of having reading only in the background, focusing on other stuff, when I discovered bookmedia, first through your channel I started ready SO MUCH. Right now, maybe I don't really put a lot of time into reading, not as much as I would like in a perfect world, but what stayed with me is the passion for reading and keeping up with new stuff and adding them to the list of books I really want to get to ❤️ and I also discovered some of my favs books and authors through bookmedia and V.E. Schwab, one of my faves (who I discovered here and probably also through the Clockwork Princess 🥰) I met almost exactly a month and it was so special 💕 So overall, just thank you so much 🥰
Yesterday I was not able to sleep. But thought to watch you video and I got so happy. Cleared my head as you talked about books and went to sleep. Keep growing. Here from 2018 Jesse
I hope you know that your content is wholesome, authentic, and exactly the kind of UA-cam I always hope for. I always get excited when I see a new video from you, they always bring a smile.
Keep up the good work Jesse ^^
(Also I am so sorry for my grammar, english is not at all my first language)
I was here back in 2017 when I was a huge reader and then I went for years without reading at all. When I got back into reading and come back to book tube I was so stoked to see you still making videos!! You were my favourite then and still are now, so grateful that you are still creating bookish content ❤
Jesse! I've been watching you since I'm 15 (now I'm 22) and it's so comforting to have something so consistent in your life! Your videos are great!
Gotta say, your videos are some of the ones I get most excited to watch, just because they're so lighthearted and casual. :D I've been watching since..... teens? Maybe? Young enough to have stayed up late watching Booktube and not struggle to get up the next morning. 🤣
Book I'd undo reading: Eliza and Her Monsters. Thought I'd love it, really wanted to, just wasn't for me. 😅😅
Question for you: ever considered doing an experimental reading video for indie books? 😃Lots of fantastic reads there for sure!
You do you, always!!! do whats best for you and your mental health.. love how real and down to earth you are, probably why these people here love you ;)
your talking videos cure my panic attacks for a couple minutes
YAYYY i love your videos sm i’ve been watching them for YEARS
Finally!! Someone who loves New Romantics!
Hey jesse! Love your videos!
Also, what's everyone reading right now? I need some recs. I'm reading The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes and it's honestly great. Really recommend!
@nicolewyrick1662 Oooh that sounds cool! I'll definitely check it out and add it to my TBR!
hi jesseee am going to watch the video and then start planning my tbr for august :)
JESSE T.T
Your vibes are unmatched!❤️
don’t doubt that people like your content and you’re amazing too.
THE TITLE SCARED ME SO BAD 😭😭😭 was getting ready to write a whooole paragraph
update i am now three minutes in and the urge to write a paragraph has been renewed because this really is a topic we should talk about more.
hi jesse! as someone who stopped watching you but chooses to remain subscribed with post notifications on, i’d like to assure you that it’s not because i don’t like you or your content, just that i’ve outgrown booktube. i feel like your content is focused on YA books which isn’t my preferred genre anymore. also i feel like booktok has killed booktube a bit, showing us the same generic popular books which just ruined book related content for me. despite this, i’ve always appreciated your vibe and personality so i’d rather remain subscribed as my way of supporting you as someone who has moved on. despite the drop in views, you seem better than ever!!
I used to watch your videos when i was in high school, but a few years ago fell away from reading, like 5 year reading slump. In January when I was wanting to get back into reading I came right to your channel for motivation❤️ was so happy to see you are still making videos! Keep doing what you are doing
You’re such a delight.
Still here watching after years, my friend! Love your growth as a person and creator. You're doing great, I promise. 💖
I also think you are cool ;)
In case you're looking for experiment ideas, you could do one based on each zodiac sign's main characteristic (whichever you wish to pick) and read a matching book.
I barely watch booktube now but every time I tune into one of your guys' videos it reminds me of how much I used to be invested in this community and how it made me fall in love with reading, glad it still exist
for question 1: acotar :))) oh and red white and royal blue :)))
I’ve been watching your channel since I was 13-14, for context I’m 20 and your excitement about books is so delicious, it always gets me hyped about reading 📖
Jesse, we love you for who you are. Never change for anyone.
In many ways, UA-cam is designed to make content creators feel bad. Know that you are loved and valued
We love your videos, Jesse! I'm glad you were able to recognise why you truly started UA-cam and how easy it is to get caught up in views and likes and comments. We appreciate you so much and you're VERY COOL. Stop saying that you're not🔪
I recently resubscribed to your channel after being subscribed in like the 2013-2016 era and I honestly prefer your newer content! you seem more authentic and that’s just such a good vibe and I’m here for it
yours is one of my favourite channels and it's so comforting to watch. also, folklore in the top 3 is a must, it is my all-time favourite album 💜
Schwab, one of my faves (who I discovered here and probably also through the Clockwork Princess 🥰) I met almost exactly a month and it was so special 💕
So overall, just thank you so much 🥰
Jesse I love your videos so much. I’ve discovered a lot of my favorite books from you. Thank you
Yesterday I was not able to sleep.
I'm so glad to hear the approach you are taking to social media, I think we should all aspire to that.
PS I hope you have a fast and easy recovery from the dentist!
