I did it- I finally bought a new guitar. Isn't it funny how you will spend 3 years looking at a certain style of guitar, thinking about getting it- and then, when you finally can buy something- you buy something totally different? I had been looking at either a P90 guitar- double P90s I mean- like a LP style- or a Yamaha RevStar. So- last night I bought an Ibanez Sp3- wtf? Where did that come from? I gotta stop drinking and shopping- they don't mix- I can't shred. I'm going to look stupid playing classic rock on a damn shredder style Super Strat. That said- I've always wanted one- they're the most irresponsible- and therefor fun- guitar you can buy. The second ppl see them they're like "Oh shit!" then you start playing and they're like "Oh, shit."

I'm sure he is, but I watched his video and he slammed BC Rich for cancelling orders, but then said he turned around and cancelled the orders he made with his vendors.
So BC Rich cancels orders due to low demand, bad. Iconic cancels orders due to low demand...good?

    • @Iam8ight

@@robwhitman769you don't sound very bright. Is Iconic supposed to just sit on literally $150,000 bucks in hardware, electronics and tone woods for over a year -closer to 2 years!) when BC Rich renigs on their end of a deal involving a LOT of money? The first 100+ guitars in the agreement, BC Rich either has in their position or sold online. Then they STIFFED Iconic for them. Then the first few hundred Crackle Warlocks flew off the shelves and again: BC Rich STIFFED iconic again. THEY GOT ALL THAT MONEY!! What's $1750 (the est. amount BC Rich agreed to pay for each American Stranger Things Warlock) times 200? (The number of Crackles actually produced) ????? Dude, since you don't seem to understand basic business and math, thats 350K!!!!! THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND BUCKS!!!!
And the difference here is, when Kevin was forced to call suppliers and make returns or cancel POs, it was AFTER BC Rich agreed to keep the production rolling, saying payment is in the way, he goes and orders all the supplies to build them, then went CRICKETS for over 2 months before verbally telling Iconic to halt production.
So based on their agreement and Kevin being the standup guy he is, he continued on with the build sheets from the POs and unknowingly gets stiffed, and he's just suppose to sit on all that inventory? GTFOH man. What would your dumb a s s do?!?!

ive built a guitar from reclaimed wood for 250$ for the supplies, and 80 hours of labor, at 10$ an hour it comes out to 1500$ phil is spot on. but larger companies can get materials quite a bit cheaper so a company like fender or gibson could build a premium guitar for even less but not by much.

Yeah, hearing about the builder/brand relationship dynamic totally struck me with the similarities to the bicycle/bmx industry of years ago. A small amount of capable fabricators and a larger number of barely or less competent builders. With so many smaller brands choosing the latter (sometimes from desperation) for fab partnership, saw many brand owner friends just go the import route, or struggle while being burned by their manufacturing 'partner'. I imagine skateboarding is similar.

p.s.: A "Performance Bond" requirement on a contract requires the buyer to engage a bond broker as "insurance". Regarding tube amps and extreme temperatures, In aircraft of the world war 2 era radios and some navigational avionics operated with vacuum tubes. These aircraft were flown out of places like Alaska, Siberia, the Himalayas, etc. and were subjected to a lot of cold stress. This equipment was subjected to some pretty fierce cold on the ground, and especially at altitude and continued to operate. From what I have read, the vibration inherent in aircraft of the time was more of a concern for the avionics than the temperature stress.
With that said, if I was living and gigging in a place like Alaska, or even the higher Rockies or Sierras in winter, I would try to keep my tube amp in a heated vehicle if possible, and move it into a living space or performance space that had at least some temperature control to give the equipment as gentle of a life as possible, but that is just me. Your mileage may vary. If you are going to keep your guitars in spaces that are comfortable for you to be in to protect them from rapid changes, you may as well do the same for your amps. No sense in "poking the bear" unnecessarily.
If anyone has real world experience with this, please inform us further and correct me if needed.

bringing electronics that have been outside in COLD temps into a WARM environment can cause condensation to form on circuit boards. If you turn them on before they have a chance to warm up at LEAST until the condensation is gone can FRY a board like you had sprayed water on it. If your in a COLD climate, (MAINE) like me, do not fire any electronics up off the UPS truck right away. I saw a coworker fry a brand new paper shredder doing this. You could see condensation on the side of the thing and he plugged it in and turned it right on. ZAAAAP! fried it.

I think retailers will semi-invent (or over-scrutinize) to find something that can make an instrument a "demo", "factory second", or "customer return" in order to sell them as used, sometimes avoiding dealer agreements on minimum retail price. Use of condition will affect clickbait info like "Well Below Market Value", or show a value range for instruments in an incongruous category.

Also, the Rainsong has the best setup of any acoustic guitar I have ever played. This is mostly because the factory setup was perfect and the guitar never moves with temp or humidity, so the guitar still has the perfect factory setup. Just a great guitar all around.

My parents are musicians and they started me young, and I never heard about letting an instrument acclimate to a room before taking it out of the case until guitarists started saying that.
What do you think pro musicians do in the winter up north? You think they show up an hour early just to let their instruments warm up, and if they can’t get there early refuse to play? Violins and woodwind instruments would likely be the most susceptible. What about marching bands; never heard anyone having a problem with extreme temps, except maybe for clarinets falling apart when the cork shrinks

Guitars are so personel. I've had a couple of Emeralds and the quality is amazing, however, I find them, and all carbon fiber guitars, to be a bit "muddy" for lack of a better term. Maybe "dull" would be a better term. The Emerald is great once plugged in, but as a strictly acoiustic instrument they are not for me.

it's a bit surprising that Phil left Badlands. He was listed as one of co-owners of the company. Makes one wonder what happened.

    • @westmus
      @westmus 4 місяці тому +1

Remember there's only 24 hours in a day. I'm fairly sure Phil already have his days 100% filled with doing stuff he likes. He never sounded like Badland was his brainchild. More like he based on his industry/business knowledge, was asked to help with the project. It's probably more exciting to be involved in an startup, than running an company.

@@phenderson20 agree but it's just something that piqued my interest. If he were actually a co owner (as was listed on their site) rather than a go to market consultant, it would be odd for him to cut ties without context.

Re: Phil parting ways with Badlands: It's unusual for a startup business owner to leave just because he's 'done'. Especially with the success of each run to-date. I would wager that a LARGE percentage of those sales came from subs to this channel. There just has to be more to the story. Saying now that he's just interested in other things doesn't pass the sniff test - especially when Phil was all over all of the publicity just a few months ago. I respect his privacy, but he did induce a lot of people on this channel to order some very expensive guitars - and some of those people bought because of his association with the company. Because of that, I think he should be a bit more forthcoming. It's also unusual that the break seems so firm and final. You'd expect that even if Phil wanted to work on other stuff, he'd stay a co-founder on the site, an occasional advisor/consultant, etc. His complete erasure from the site and the way he talks about it suggests a more dramatic departure.

BC Rich doesn´t care for the European market. The German distributor W-Music (warwick/framus) actually only has 5 older models in stock, 2 guitars and 3 basses. The stranger things guitar was never offered in Germany, neither other new models. A guy I know ordered a Gunslinger two years ago via Thomann. The order was canceled by Thomann after a year... My dream guitar is a BC Rich Mockingbird archtop supreme from the late 90s. Perhaps someday I get one. They are rare a.f. in Europe.

The business "Gearnuts" seem to be set up as a clearing house for returned Sweetwater gear. They are listing guitars on Reverb as "new" and priced identically to Sweetwater listings for new items. Although defects are disclosed either the are demoed or defective, or used. each of which category should logically impose a discount commensurate with condition. This suggests intentional deception whether it be on the part of Sweetwater or Gearnuts. If a serial numbers are available for the items, a correlation effort should be undertaken.

  • @MeetTheSLAYER

Steve is NOT the owner of Iconic guitars, Kevin Proctor is. BC Rich cancelled the order AFTER the contract was signed, which is breech of contract. While they shrank the order number to about half and then cancelled all, while they already signed a contract. So it is 100% not a counting your chickens before they hatch, and Iconic guitars is suing BC Rich. Those issues with BC Rich guitars is 100% on BC Rich, as the contract with BC Rich and Iconic were on the BC Rich Warlock Stranger Things edition, which are the ONLY guitars Iconic was to make for BC Rich.
