I'm so glad someone finally unboxed this scanner and tested it on the owl 🙄 like we haven't seen that a million times. It's a worry that there aren't many videos testing the Otter on things OTHER than the test model Creality supplies. It's also a worry that Creality's Facebook group automatically declines any mention of competition like Einscan.
Don't get me wrong, the scanner might be good, but all of these shills aren't giving us any new info.

After getting to mole and testing the lynx and then getting the ferret I will never go back and leave Creality - their scan app is best

The scan app is bare bone. They have to improve it. It’s deleting original scans after merging and it lacks many features other scan software offers.
But the hardware is really good. I bought the Creality Raptor for reverse engineering. I have the Einstar, Einscan-SP, Revopoint mini and now the Raptor.

Why do linux users refuse to just buy a cheap used windows laptop for occasional low power windows apps.
I have 2 windows PC’s a linux machine and an old Imac.
It is not a Zero sum game.

Simply because freedom has a hefty pricetag.
This 3D scanner seems nice, but windows definitely isn't, it turns "cheap used laptop" into paperweight.
Buying it to use it on these two other OSes won't push the manufacturer to consider Linux during the development of newer products.

One of my used laptops is a 12 year old Toshiba running
some old build of windows 10.
never goes online ,used for watching video tutorials mostly and some light 2D animation with a program from Reallusion.
Linux users should stop treating their OS as a religion
where even touching another OS is a “sin” while they wait for all software companies to accept linux as their saviour.

Epic game has beaten all of them reality scan and reality capture free apps are already available in the market. You can make vey good models using any mobile phone.
I think this is a useless thing for now.
