Comforters are washed and replaced semi regularly, unlike sheets. It's not as big a problem as in the past since a lot of hotels have switched to duvets and duvet covers. The duvet is still washed semi regularly but the duvet covers are washed and replaced like the sheets. Some hotels/motels still use comforters or bedspreads so it usually better to find one that uses duvets.
