Big & Rich were teaching a song writing class and told their students that they could write a song about anything get inspiration from anywhere.... One of the ladies taking the class said that a guy at a bar the night before tried to pick her up with the line "why don't you save a horse and ride a cowboy.." that's the song's origin
This is a really cool song, but their best song, hands down, is The 8th Of November. It's based on a true story. The beginning is narrated by the legendary Kris Kristofferson. The singers are friends with one of the veteran that survived the the battle on November 8th 1965 that saw the loss of 48 American Soldiers. They do an amazing job, relating what he experienced and what he does each year to honor the friends he lost that day.
This was SO much fun ! and yes ... NashVegas !! Just a couple of hours away from me- John Rich - a SUPER nice dude .... with a side note : John Rich has his own whiskey line, Redneck Riviera, he has donated more than $200,000 to Folds of Honor. This donation helped provide 40 scholarships to the children and spouses of U.S. fallen and disabled service members.
The video was filmed on the Shelby Street Bridge in Nashville in 2004 and featured other members of the Music Mafia, which was the songwriting/performing group founded by Big & Rich. Pretty much, this song blew up Big & Rich's careers and made them cross-platform famous, even though John Rich had been successful as part of another long-running country group (Lonestar) prior to this,
I used to call my husband, "Cowboy" (he's not) and although he hates every other thing vaguely country, he liked this. This was his ringtone on my phone for years and it still actually lives in his playlist. (He took pity on me when I was going through chemo in 2005 and took me to see Big & Rich in concert and managed to live through it. 🤣) Their harmonies are super tight and there's a song they wrote for Big Kenny's sister, called, "Holy Water." I gather from the beginning of the video that she was the victim of some kind of sexual assault. That hit the top 20 country song in the early 2000s and is truly beautiful and worth checking out. 'The 8th of November,' as suggested by others, will be right up your alley, 100%, as it pertains to the military. It's a heart tugger. Early in the 2000s, Big & Rich led, "The Muzik Mafia" in Nashville, which included, to name just a few, Gretchen Wilson, Kid Rock and Cowboy Troy (the tall, skinny black man in the video, who tried to launch 'Hick Hop' with his country rap.) They all made quite the splash in Nashville and for all the people who hate 'new country,' here are some of the biggest change agents. Their music made me happy during a difficult time and I love Big & Rich, sorry, not sorry!
If it's not on your list yet you need to add Lee Ann Womack "I hope You Dance" It's a beautiful song of a mother's wish for her children's futures. (I know y'all said you really like female artists)
Fun song! Absolutely. Thanks for checking it out. Music is amazing just set to country lyrics. If you enjoyed this you should check out another Tim McGraw song, try his Indian Outlaw.. great music. You will enjoy!

Was gonna suggest this song but didn’t think you would listen to it!!! Country can take you all over the board with feelings and emotions… this is some great fun music that anyone can jamb to:)
Had friends that were big horse people, trail riders back in the aughts and one night a couple of them rode their horses into the bar. Can’t hear this song to this day without thinking of that.
I'm really not a huge fan of this song, most because country radio over played it when it first came out. But, I live just east of downtown OKC, and it is very common to see a couple of people ride their horses down the road. They mostly are trying to break them. But, I've had a horse in front of me at a drive through... and then I guess one of guys guess decided to go inside so he "parked" his horse by tying him to the handicap sign with a handicap placard hanging off his reigns. If I could insert a picture in this comment I would. LOL I love seeing them though because you can see the pure joy in their face. But a lady I've named Big Bertha, doesn't like joy. So she put up about 15-20 signs saying no horses were allowed in the grass right at the road (which is city property) a cop pulled up and started taking them down and we had a code red Karen/Big Bertha alert! That woman was calling him name I haven't ever heard of. But I've never been so happy to just be driving down that road in that moment. I may or may not have rolled the windows down and played "Move Bitch" from the 90's/early 2000's.🤷🏻♀️
This was great! If you are looking for another good song with a fun video I would suggest Maddie and Tae " Girl in a country song" one of my favorite country videos. You should check it out!
At the end y’all missed the manaquin was real ..I went to high school w John Rich .. he was crazy as hell then too but I knew he would make it big in country music .. just didn’t know he would be Big N Rich
John Rich from Big and Rich used to be part of Lone star. He is a bell of a producer, and owns Recheck Riveria in Nasville on Broadway. I haven't been but his bar is very pro gun and pro military, first responders, pro law enforcement. All the artist in the song are part of the Music Mafia. Gretchen Wilson also is the Music Mafia.
I think Big and Rich biggest contribution to music is the MuzikMafia and the choice they made to release their music on their own terms. They may have lost money choosing to create their own label, but they kept creative integrity by doing so. Big and Rich are such different people, political and otherwise, they are an inspiration for people who enjoy each other no matter the differences. They brought party country ( I don't know how else to explain it), serious country, and lyrical styles to country radio like we had never heard. Like, love, or hate it, they make their own music, their own way, with their own rules. I love it even when it was overplayed.
We respect integrity. Rush actually wrote a brilliant song about how hard it is to maintain it in the music industry. If you're not familiar with it, check out "Spirit of Radio" and pay careful attention to the lyrics. - Keith

One time he got kicked out of the strip club he was drinking at (back when you could drink at a strip club in Washington state) so he rode his horse in through the front door and grabbed the stripper off the stage and rode out the back door with her. Left her at the back door with a kiss and a tip and took off dodging down alleys and through back yards to get home. He got caught halfway home asleep on the horse and got arrested for DUI, but beat the charge because the horse was the one driving and the HORSE was obviously not drunk... this old man was a trip and I still miss him a lot

You should reach to Foreign Ground by the Courier Club. They are a very small band and have a very small following. But they make great music.
Thanks for the suggestion, but they are a Rock band, we're sticking to Country Music on the channel.
Another artist to check out is Keith Urban. Try to find Stupid Boy, the LIVE version if you can. Talk about guitar work! Country, but rock and roll too.
I think that's on our list. We'll add a vote.
I believe the term you are looking for is "Rock-a-Billy" music... a.k.a. Hillbilly Rock!
