I have two of these, it's my EDC, do all knife. You can put ceramic ballbearing which really helps smoothen the operation and titanium screws and spacers if you like to go All Ti. Hands down best folding knife. Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it.
This is an amazing torture test review on this folder ! I have always liked the design, much more than the XM 18 because it just feels better in hand and has no finger choil on the blade. Went ahead and ordered one today in magnacut with the micarta scales zt 0562MIC 😊. Thanks for sharing 👍 much appreciated !
I am super happy when my videos help folks decide on their purchase! Awesome knife, definitely on my list of “if I only had one knife” I wish ZT/KAI focused on knives like this instead of experimenting with fidget toys!
I have both this and the Rick Hinderer XM18 3.5 triway in full Ti. I gotta say, I prefer to carry this than the XM18 as it is lighter and of course, much cheaper. but I do love them both.
@@CuttingBoardRx Yep, but still a lot cheaper than a XM-18! My only ZT right now is my 0462, (l really like Sinkevich too). I think it’s a beautiful design, but I doubt it would do quite as well in your testing.
My mini Adamas had lock rock right out of the box with out spine whacking anything, couldn't even tune in out either, from what I understand it is or "was" a known issue with the model when Benchmade first dropped it, mini or full sized. Apparently they have fixed the issue but I'm not buying another one to find out, considering the price they ask its an issue that could have been avoided if they weren't so busy counting their pile of Bugout money. I'd rather invest a little more cash on a Hinderer or ZT. The 0562 totally upped my knife game lol. Good review, and kudos on NOT batoning it through fire wood as well, I bet it could handle it though.
2 more limited edition WE’s on my list then this will be the next purchase I’m gonna save up for an Eklipse after, depending on if I like it or not I’ve only heard good things about hinderer, so I wanna try it out Great to see this torture test!
If You use the knife how if supposed to, it will last, batoning and some other stuff I don't do with the 0562, thats why I have a gerber strongarm and a cold steel srk, folder knives are not for that kind of tasks, well maybe the cold steel sr1 and the 4 max scout can support that abuse
The 0562 is a well-loved model. As you discovered, not everything that looks like a thumb stud is one. The new micarta (on one side) with Magnacut version is on sale now for about $220, which seems like a good deal to me. There's a nice sale on some other ZT models now too.
Zt Magnacut is from 61 to 63 but if the first batches most are around 62 and none are 63. 62 will be far better than anything that zt have used prior. But not worth more than 200 unless they get them all to 63. Knowing zt history of hardness, expect them to get lower than 62 with time. Plus I have asked if they are using cryo or not and no one at zt will say. Meaning if they dont use cryo, they will likely perform lower at the same hardness as ones using cryo.
@@tacticalcenter8658 Not a single knife in any of your videos, yet you own so many models. The same comment about HRC being too low on nearly every video that you comment on. @@floridaman727 I did, but I fessed up to my miss deed and didn’t claim warranty. Because I was clearly abusing the knife!!! My honesty must have been noticed so not only did they offer to regrind my broken blade for free, they also offered to replace the blade at cost ($170) and without any delay. During the period when the knife was at their shop, they contacted me to inform me that they found a MgnaCut blade that wasn’t yet matched to a frame and they are waiting for the person who match-grinds the tangs to the lock bar to become available. They sent back the knife that wasn’t just restored, it was finely tuned! By their best! It ran better than before. Plus they let me keep my original blade. With shipping, I was in for grand total of $202. If you take into account that my original cost was $475 (caught it on sale) I ended up with a custom-built Zaan for $677. Needles to say, I now own 4 more CRKs which are shown in this video: ua-cam.com/video/z0U6RZR63n0/v-deo.html
That’s awesome! They did the same thing for me after I broke a blade and it was my fault. They’ve even refinished the entire knife before sending it back.
Thanks for nice test! Did you check knife inside after test already? I like 0562 and 0393. But I noticed that bearings touch directly with titanium on these knife - without steel washers. And after hard work or maybe after some abrasive dirt inside - I noticed deep trenches on some videos with old these knife. Did you notice this moment?
I haven’t disassembled the knife yet, but replacing bearings with washers is a good idea for a hard use knife. I just did this on a Medford and a McNees.
Mine has a slight amount of play when in the 3/4 open position, should i be concerned? My other zt doesnt have that l, nor do my other high end knives on ball bearings.
Generally, one should not rely on lock bar to take up the blade play. That may lead to premature wear of the engagement area and pivot hardware. This particular knife isn’t designed to be a drop-shut fidgeter, so I would recommend tuning it tighter and letting it wear in.
@@CuttingBoardRx to be clear there's no play in the closed or open position, and I felt for play the whole sweep of opening it and it seems like it's only a small point in the opening motion that there's slight horizontal play. You think it's just the pivot tightness?
All these knife reviews leave out the most important thing for me: How hard is it to accidentally activate the release that would allow the blade to close on my fingers. For some reason they never show that or talk about it. I'm going to buy a fixed blade knife unless I can be assured the blade won't close on my hands, yet that's the one thing these reviews never talk about. Why? I can see him pushing something with his thumb but that looks like if you were gripping extremely tight in a life and death fight you could allow the blade to close.

I bought hte 0350 the next day too, and I absolutely love both and love knowing that they are REAL. What a crazy coincidence.... I also bought a griptilian benchmade with amazing AWT aftermarket scales and that is real, but doesn't compare to the zero tolerance knives. These are my absolute favorites and I might buy the sinkevich next.... cheers bro.@@CuttingBoardRx
Originals have the serial number on the box and blade, if it's doesnt match is fake, if the box when You Open it don't have the "zt" or "kai" logo stamped then it's fake, and most important, if You can Open it with the "tumbstuds" it's fake, Originals only can be Open by the Flipper tab
Im sitting here playing with both. I am going to give the knock off to my nephew for his first knife since it's still well made and a good first knife to have that he can destroy over time without feeling any sort of remorse, lol. Its still worth $100 in my opinion - but WOW, do I love playing with the authentic TI version. Its definitely my new favorite knife. I am hooked on ZT.
