Was there another surprise after the puppy? If not: wrong title, should be "Girl gets surprised BY getting puppy".
Nice try but the headline works. She was surprised after receiving the puppy as a gift because she didn't know it was a gift when she first received the puppy. So the surprise came after she got the dog as a gift.
Three years later:Girl: "Mom! I'm going out. I don't know when I'll be back." Mom: "What about the dog?"Girl: "What dog?"Dog; "Sigh..."
