Hi Jen, the first video of yours I watched pricked my curiosity. It was your opinion, as a German, on us brits. I am a proud brit and as a rule of thumb I think we are a good bunch. Many years ago I was based in Germany but never really got to know many locals. So it was nice to hear your view point on us and England....well London; not quite a true reflection of England as a whole. Once you leave the college age group, it gets harder to make friends anywhere I think. Having recently relocated a fair distance from years established friends, it's been something I've just accepted. People get too busy trying to survive, so having very close contact friends gets to be impractical and I think people get apathetic after a while and give up trying. I have peers, co-workers that I know very well and it's almost comical how difficult it is to arrange a dinner out when people are married, kids etc etc. Life's burdens and stresses get in the way unfortunately.

Am sure there is no need for you to feel insecure about people wanting to be your friend I am certain many people would want to be just as many people would not. Hey you cant please everyone! Most people in my experience are not necessarily unfriendly but self absorbed and have limited amounts of time to spend on people in their busy lives so tend to be only interested in people who are already of some importance to them. Certainly if you are interested in being friends with someone in my experience the best thing is to be upfront and let them know, then if they are interested work at maintaining the friendship fairly regularly. There that's my humble opinion :o)

I'm extremely lucky in that I have made some amazing friends through work. It really helps being in a place where you know they're there permanently. If I didn't work there I think I'd have about three real friends. I agree with there being so many people who are just here to study or for a short work placement, which is difficult to find housemates who are genuinely looking for a home. Again I was very lucky after a few poor experiences to find a flatmate online through Spareroom.co.uk who laid out all of these things in her ad. I love London and don't plan to leave if I can help it. I can absolutely relate to your social anxiety though. It's such a shame because some really cool, fun people are the ones that hide themselves away, whereas the people who are out and about chatting to everyone are the flaky bullshitters.

We could be friends (except for the age, gender and geographcal gap). Also, flatmates, do you find that tends to be more of a frenemies relationshi? I've not had many (tended to live alone except for family and at university) but from those I have had and what friends/acquaintences hae mentioned there's always the whole "Who used my milk?" or "Why is the sink full of washing up?" situation. Then one flatmate gets a partner who stops over a lot and uses the facilities more than a guest really would (e.g. fair enough throwing a few things in the wash with the person they're stopping with, but when they show up with four sacks of laundry and tie up the washing machine for the day because there's no machine at their flat and the laundrette is so expensive, plus at the laundrette they would have to provide their own soap powder and fabric conditioner rather than stealing yours...) which totally puts everyone else out, especially as the flat mate they're staying with has used this to justify having the big room but only pays the same rent and share of the bills as everyone else.
I have an idea - just go to a pub at the uni and talk to agroup tp people that ou are new here and you want to meet new friends...worked for me in hull...after 2 days I had 6 aquauntences...no firends of course...but people ypu can do a houseparty with ;)

I am not good at making friends either. I do not have many good friends. I have my girlfriend and that's pretty much it. I am not good at making friends either. I do not have many good friends. I have my girlfriend and that's pretty much it. I am not sure who would love to live with a person who is under neurological treatment (like me). Honestly, I consider it a good value if I wear something elegant when I meet a woman. I inherited it from my grandpa. Almost nobody likes it. Some women think that muscles are better than spine (=honesty). I learnt at school that it is not possible to live without spine. Some people can.
I live in NYC, and I would love to befriend someone who lives and works in London. I would love to experience London from someone who lives there, and experience it better than a tourist will ever experience. Ich würde sagen, dein Gefühl hat dich nicht getäuscht. Vielleicht make it sense, wenn du dich mal mit der Sandy treffen würdest? Vielleicht macht es auch Sinn, wenn du dir selbst einmal Gedanken über die Begriffe Lebens- und Geschäftspartner, Freunde, Bekannte und Kollegen machst. Google+ nennt so etwas auch Kreise. Bei Kreisen gibt es auch den Begriff der Schnittmenge. Inwieweit meine eigenen Gedanken dazu repräsentativ "Deutsch" oder gar "International" wären, vermag ich aber nicht zu sagen.
