@@preexthis This. Its like a cycle because teachers used to have so much power and authority - they would hit students for disbehaving, etc. till like 2005-8, then a power switch happened where parents were super protective of their kids and laws were set in place to protect kids.
However, now kids have so much power and they are the ones abusing teachers. The hot topic in Korea these days is that teachers are constantly scolded by overprotective parents and even if a child abuses (even physically) a teacher, they cannot remove them from the classroom or discipline them, causing many teachers to quit and a few to end their lives.

Park jihoon (the main actor) is actually a singer dancer he’s so talented his acting in one of the best he was also in a survival show and won second place ,debuted in a group called wannaone and he was one of the most famous members but they disbanded and now he’s a soloist and an actor admired by everyone literally everyone. If you watch behind the scenes you will see how clingy they r w him

@@preexthis Omg, definitely should! *Wannaone was one of the biggest group* rookie group (2017-19!) After the show we all knew that their contract would end together in a couple of years but the fans enjoyed the ride. They won many awards like "Rookie Grand Slam" in 2018 and Billboard chose them as the Best New K-Pop Act of 2017. In their last concert, everyone cried. Im still a dedicated fan years later.

This drama actually numbs you at a certain point. When he was going after everyone I didn’t feel a sense of remorse guilt or anything. I was so happy 😂 violence was needed coz they did our man so dirty and till the end this bum bum Seok had zero accountability. WHAT YOU MEAN YOU DONT KNOW
i wouldn't say he had zero accountability, he knew what he did so he was going to take the beating. also 'don't know' makes sense as there's literal no valid or good enough reason for what he did. it doesn't matter what he said. he don't know because he wasn't in his right state of mind in the first place.
lol I know it's weird there is no teachers in k dramas. Teachers in Korea dont stay in a classroom, and they only come to classroom for a lecture.
I think the reason behind why he only got punished to transfer school and not juvenile is this; once the case got police attention, police will investigate everything until the root meaning it will get exposed that Bumseok started it all first and almost kill Ahn Suho. Hv to remember who his father is. For the sake of his reputation, he probably asked or maybe bribed school to cover it all up and transferred Sieun. You saw in The Glory how Yeonjin's mom cover up her bullying activities. So yeah that's why.
if you guys liked this drama i recommend "Taxi Driver /Mobeomtaeksi " (2021) - it's also a revenge kind of drama + the second season aired this year (Feb-Apr) . Can't wait for Weak Hero Class 1 season 2 😍
soooo the ting with Beomsuk is that he’s been insecure since his last school. he felt he had a position in the group and had role, and you can tell all he wanted was his OWN friends not only when the girl joined but when he first went on instagram and followed Soo waiting for the follow back. Feelings changed officially when he not only didn’t get tht follow back but the girl was followed and took pics with them. And his jealousy fueled when she hung out and he sees how extroverted and in place of the group.
There is a season 2 coming and the webtoon IS INSANE.

Bullying is relatively severe in Korea. There are levels where school may reach a point and.have to address but if family is rich more or less not happening. And also if a teacher or someone were to accuse someone of bullying without strong evidence they could be sued for defamation (which Korea has strong laws about). Also, kids are minors in Korea until the age of 20 so as juveniles up until that point they can really get away with alot. They could even murder someone and get pretty low consequences if any. Juvenile crime is also something they are trying to address in Korea since in some ways its out of control. MC really had limited options to address and while his route wasn't the best, it served a purpose. Can't wait for season 2! And more reactions.

In india teachers bully students I mean most of case I have seen even in my school too , or I have seen some of students got angry on teachers for some reason or get in fight with some of students...but it's not that worse as korea , indian students usely get along after fighting too brothers and when they call brothers they don't really bully that much it's just normal and have to say either you are rich or poor the school boss is always principal and teachers, students afraid from them this is the thing I respect abt Indian people 👍🏻

I’m so glad it’s confirmed that we’ll get a S2. The main storyline from the webtoon is crazy good. Def outlandish but entertaining. This drama is def in my top 5 for SURE.
Def recommend to watch ‘Strangers from hell’ (creepy psychological thriller) or ‘Mouse’ (crime/detective thriller) which are both insanely good. These 2, the glory, and weak class hero 1 round out my top 4 kdramas.

Flower Of Evil is a great kdrama, it main characters are adults so it's easier to watch i feel like, the story and the characters are amazing, they have really interesting relationships and motivations. It is detective and mystery

Yeah absolutely flower of evil is different from what you watched till so far.I really want you to see it's thriller, mystery....please everybody watched same things glory,my name,weak hero,all of us are dead don't misunderstand they are nice .but people recommending like there no other good kdramas.
@@jkjkjkburger yes!!! the plot of FOE is so different from other kdramas and the cast is just superb. I adore almost all of the characters, even the "evil ones", cause they are just written so good.

In the Webtoon the real story starts at his new school and its just get crazier. I generally like the Main story much more. Obviously his backstory with suho was amazing too but the real shit happensw at season 2. Cant wait for Season 2 and the casting is already amazing.

it's the same in my country. Teachers will leave the classroom after the lesson ends. Teachers have teachers' room to rest, do marking for tests/examination or preparing the materials for next topic, etc.
teachers basically live in their classrooms here in the US. even during break times and lunch they never leave the classroom for some reason

If you guys need a change of pace and different genre, I would highly suggest Extraordinary Attorney Woo. One of the most fascinating K-drama that came out the same year as The Glory. Main Lead is Park Eun-Bin who plays as an attorney with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).
Surprisingly, he was the only one who had a problem with a girl joining the group,
You gotta watch After School Duty next. I want to see you guys go crazy. The short hair girl and the bully with broken nose, both of them also among the main characters. Really hope to see your reactions getting mad and crazy especially towards some stupid characters 😂😂
ngl before being into kdramas, I really never knew about bullying being a thing. I come from a country where the worst thing that can happen in school between students is stealing pens, so at first I thought it's just all made up :')) S. Korea may be one of the safest countries in the world in terms of crime but they have a really serious probelm with 1) bullying 2) spy cams 3) predators 4) digital crimes. If you guys are interested there is one documentary that left me SPEECHLESS "Cyber Hell", it's about the famous case "the nth room" !!

The comic is also very good, honestly better than the series but the actors have done their best. As the comic fan, I really like this series.
First of all, I love you guys and your narrative, so my view is why mess with someone who doesn't even look your way(someone who is actuallyin schoolfor the sole purpose). When the person retaliates, it becomes a problem. Yes, it went too far, but they should have stopped when he kept saying stop!!! Some bullies just don't like accepting defeat. That's why shit hit the fan so bad because of their EGO. As for the adults, security, parents, teachers, etc, if we have learned anything from most Korean dramas, is that power and wealth overrules anything, even the so-called police. The morale of this drama to me is don't fuck with people period, because you could be a bully for all I care but there some who won't take it lying down. (We die together kinda shit).

The fact that minors in South Korea get away scot free. I can never wrap my mind around that. The juvenile justice system is very biased towards kids and also quite lax. So, younger than 16 don't have any action taken against them. It's the same here, we support the main character but as y'all keep mentioning, he resorted to violence and gets to still go to school and is not in Juvie. In many countries this would never be unimaginable, especially with that much violence . The class system just creates one more layer to the bullying endemic.

Week hero class and duty after school has kind of similar genre- action, coming-of-age.
However Vincenzo has crime action and dark comedy.

beom seok is not gay, he is emotional unstable and emotional unstable man is susceptible to jealousy. they lacked communication, one is emotional unstable, si eun is lonely from broken and detached family, suho is free-spirited that sometimes he don't put too much care on things. they are basically kids here (trying to figure out things) that needs parental and adults guidance. class 1 is a prequel to the main story of weak hero, si eun in his new school, eunjang high school. beom seok and suho will not be in season2. the gang/bullies in his new school are worse, they have heirarchy and si eun will dismantle it.

You guys should watch 'Bloodhounds', it's based on the year 2020 when COVID-19 was really serious and because of that it was difficult for those with businesses to continue to make money. The whole plot is about loan sharks and what they do to those businesses struggling to pay their rent. The main character's mother is one of the victims to the loan sharks and the actual story basically begins from there.

i wish they went the right route of actually having the vid released or pink pillow waking up and releasing it becaused he didn't sign anything and taking all the bullies including bum guy and his dad down in prison. Kinda hated they all got of scotch free but it very much is going the fictional route of they just fight and win against the bullies to lead more into the next season which apparently is the actual webtoon this was just based on the prequel for first. I think if they did it stand alone story for season one not continued they would of gone that route of more closure and better messaging around bullying. Just felt like the focus was on the next season and not really wrapping the story of this one like they already moved on to the next story/characters. i only watched through reactions but if they had like messaging before or after each ep about effective strategies to manage bullies irl or even at end have cast or professional discuss but i do get that it is valid in certain situations to just stand up for yourself. My mum did that at school when she was at school in aus in the 70s/80s and got bullied for being a "wog" being greek ended up decking her bully and she never bothered her again because she never expected her to stand up but i agree the continual violence and not showing any teacher, therapist, parent intervention was a bit poor on the show almost sensationalised it but again it is fiction and majority who watch will recognise this but their may be some who take this as literal action. Also u are right to recognise in korea their is an added layer surrounding perceieved hierarchy/positions of power and wealth (classism) too which is greater than the extent to maybe here in aus etc.
You’re probably spot on with that tbh, this season was positioned to show us Si-eun and how he came to be at that point at the end of season 1. It’ll be interesting to see how the webtoon itself is adapted!

I think is kind of in between of realistic and non realistic after seeing everything that goes down in Korean schools or in between children in Korea. The glory was based on a real bullying case and many others situations has happened in which students harm other students and go unpunished because of their social status or because they are minors (there’s a law that exempt Minors of any punishment for any crime) if I’m not mistakes there’s a higher percent of young that becomes criminals than adults

Well I heard that real life bullying is way worse than in kdramas there.
Also in SK teacher's have their own room, they don't sit in class only go there when they have to.
He didn't have any other options other than violence cuz teachers don't care, school doesn't care, police could not be bothered, adults can't really do anything against other rich parents. Even suing won't do anything since the law system is extremely lenient on minors in SK.
