I know these work when there was the historic wildfires happening in california and Elon Musk offered free use of a fleet of Model X’s to the firefighters and rescuers so that way they could rescue people. There’s no engine and no air intake to get clogged by black blankets of smoke and soot, also the BIO mode still provided some of the freshest air possible to the first responders and those they rescued. It's $269 and its recommended to replace it every 3 years. Considering that you don't have to pay for oil changes and other maintenance that gas cars have, and since the cost of charging is much lower than gas, it's really not a huge deal in my opinion. The elephant in the room that nobody is addressing is the affect of Tesla filters on car exhaust. Obviously, car pollution is the major concern everyone has about cabin air quality. But no one is asking about that. CO2, CO, NO2, Ozone...not just PM2.5....these are critical to human health and HEPA filters do NOTHING to filter car exhaust & pollution. If anyone can make their cabins truly safe for everyone, they can.

I like the show but wish you would have talked to an industrial hygienist before making this video. HEPA filters are rated at 0.3 microns because that is the particle size that is most difficult to filter. Smaller particles and larger particles are all filtered better than 0.3 micron particles. They filter viruses just fine. Look at the efficiency graph on Wikipedia. The idea behind the mode is fine and would work in any car with a HEPA cabin filter.
