My personal favorite FLORAL SHOPPE track. It takes a 20 second sample and creates something totally new out of it. Many people argue that Floral Shoppe was all lazy sampling but this track definitely doesn't fit the bill
@@Pizzapieman114 It did way more than that. It created new songs out of already existing songs. This technique of creating music predates vaporwave! It's called plunderphonics. There's a producer that was fairly popular in the 90s called Fatboy Slim, and he did just that, create new music out of already existing music!
This album means a lot to me. I was a freshman in high school when I first heard Floral Shoppe in 2015 when the 420 song blew up. I remember looking into so many vaporwave artists during this time and being so interested in this genre. I fell away from it for a few years as it's popularity came to a close and I was berated by kids at my school for listening to vaporwave. I went on to learn more about music, pick up a few instruments became a total guitar gear-head, and took my journeys to learn about Audiophile tech and the mixing and mastering of high fidelity music. (which is a very vaporwave subject on it's own if you ask me.) Although my life long love for retro tech and gaming never went away, my constant listening to vaporwave (and branches of that genre that I began to love like chill wave and vapor trap) only lasted about 2 years. For a long time I just got into the routine of school and sports and listened to music occasionally instead of the deep listening I used to drown myself in overnight. I found a girlfriend and would talk to her on the phone all night instead of my music routine and again and again I found myself being further away from the analytical music listener I used to be, only caring about my own production and knowledge on music theory. Today is important to me because I am searching for that deep love again, it's a strange nostalgia for a music that was in the first place supposed to play on nostalgia (how many layers of irony is that?). This magical experience is really just jaw dropping to me and I hope that all the other vaporwave veterans from 2013-2015 and even people who just have fond memories of this record come back to it during these uncertain times. if any of you have some heartfelt stories about this album please share in the comments. in 3 years this will be 10 years old and that is quite the scary idea.
I remember my uncle first made me listen to floral shoppe in around 2011 or 2012, I was about 8-9 back then, didn't really understand it, thought it was weird. I would listen to it once and a blue moon, but wasn't a diehard fan of the genre. Now I make vaporwave myself, it's just crazy to me how that works, and this album doesn't feel 9 years old at all.
this is 100% the best track on that album. one of the most inventive uses of a single, short sample i've ever heard. the chopping alone is brilliant, but the overlaying of the samples puts it over the edge.
Idk how to explain that this track specifically is the greatest influence to my creativity & I seriously cannot get enough of things that sound so perfectly broken in just the right way. I want to make a whole album of tracks just like this, broken disjointed samples that still always come together in some way

ngl i always thought this album (even tho it sounded cool) was just lazy w/ its samples before i even really listened to it and now i am eating my words
I disagree actually, the thing I most love in this track is the scratched effects and the melody those effects create. I do not enjoy JUST depending on the sample alone, there are some songs that I love that has the same scratched effects which the original samples are just noise (Example: Oneohtrix Point Never - Replica)

The ecco track to me is more underrated, it seem like its a bit forgettable to some people on first listen
I can't explain it, but this is way better than... anything else.
it sounds like when your CD is all scratched and the song keeps stuttering
