Looks like you had some Cackling geese in with the Canadian geese! Great first day! I really enjoy your commentary (and your endings! 😂). My goal is 250 species this year.
Looks like a good day. You have a lot more kinds of birds in your area. We get a lot of different birds migrating threw. Just have to be at the right place at the right time. But not like the many different one's you get. Bird's are cool. Thanks
Thank you! Definitely the right place at the right time! I'm going to make a video, hopefully soon, about chasing birds. It's a very interesting task. I did that today and located a lifer! I will be making a video about today's birding adventure, and hopefully I will have it out by Friday.
I think that's a great goal! 200 birds isn't easy to get. People I know who see 300-400+ species each year often have a lot of free time and spend quite a bit of money. I don't have a lot of time or money, 🤣! Good luck this year!
Oh man I have a million questions and things to say about how amazing these videos are, but I'll stick to two questions. What's your all time dream bird to find, and why do they call them Red bellied woodpeckers, it looks like their belly was white?
Thank you! Seeing a California Condor in 2006 was my all-time biggest birding moment, I think. As a kid, I really expected it to be extinct by the time I grew up. so that was huge! There are so many that I would love to see now, so I'm not certain, but I think a Blue Mockingbird would be it. They sometimes wander into the United States, but it's rare. One was in New Mexico for a while in 2022, and I almost went down there, but couldn't get there before it left. Maybe someday! Do you have a dream bird?
Also, Red-bellied Woodpeckers have a faint amount of red on their bellies, so that's the name they get. The American Bird Conservancy believes that the name "Red-capped Woodpecker" might be a better fit.
@@randyadventure I'm out in the central coast and time to time when out hiking you can see those monster birds flying. It's really something else. Love the videos!

Thank you! And good luck!

Good luck just found you. I am only at 168 life list. I hope to get over 200. Not a great goal but I am ok with it .

Good luck on your Big Year! I'm doing a Big Year too.
Thank you! Good luck to you as well!
