And to top it all off, her dead body was crushed and impaled at the end. All for a murder she didn't commit. Screw you, Shitmugi. Kaede didn't deserve this. This was a harsh execution with a lot of parts to it, which is why I consider it to be the saddest and most gruesome execution in all the games.

hot take: i think the twist would’ve hit better if shuichi and kaede swapped places. imagine starting off shuichi, a similar character to hajime and makoto, it feels familiar. not only that he’s the ultimate detective, so it feels like the game would be easy. but then suddenly ofc, he’s framed for murder and dies, and now you have to play as kaede. a confident girl who doesn’t really have detective skills though. it would’ve been such a jarring twist that i think would’ve hit the player better, especially too because it fully breaks the conventions of the series for once.

Coming back 4 years later. Considering the fact that it's the main protagonist that's getting executed I love the little details in the background that foreshadow the executions of the other culprits like the vines in Kirumi's execution being in the background and Kaede getting crushed is probably a reference to both Tsumugi, Makoto, and Kyoko. There are also some more but I'm pretty sure someones already made a comment calling out the little details.

Yeah i saw another comment and another and a usual hanging death by suffocation would last 20 minutes but becaude of how she was jerked up and down forced to make leverage on the keys, and also the speeding up of the tempo and in general shows she was in fact hung and stoned for over 3 hours and they were forced to watch.

(Ignore that this is 5 years late) The song "Der Flohwalzer" is mostly played on black keys, but in the execution it is played on white, to hint at the fact that Kaede is innocent. (If you kill someone, you are classified as a Blackend) I believe that it's not confirmed, but popular theory is that Kaede's execution took around 8 hours, she survived that long by breathing every time she landed on a key. Relating to the first fact, Der Flohwalzer is a pretty easy song to play. But in the execution the song was played wrong, probably annoying Kaede considering that she is the Ultimate pianist. In the end when the case is closed, it was allegedly (I think) supposed to decapitate Kaede, but that was considered to be too brutal, so the monokid was decapitated instead. Some people claim to hear the words "Innocent" whispered three times during the end of her execution, though I can't hear it myself. Kaede enjoyed seeing the smiles on peoples faces when she played piano, however her last moments were spent being boo'd at and having rocks thrown at her, from her "playing" the piano. Kaede truly believed that she was the killer, probably spending her last moments feeling guilty about a murder which she didn't commit. To explain a bit, I think that the shot-put ball missed Rantaro, but the mastermind (No spoilers other then Kaede's case) threw another ball at Rantaro, and framed Kaede, which they could do since they were the mastermind. That's it! Most of these are theoretical and controversial facts. I apologize if I got some of the details of the theories wrong.
Kaedes execution was the most brutal execution 1: she was hanged with barely any second to gasp for air 2: rocks were thrown at her, legs, ribs etc 3: the clock in the back was hinting that she had to suffer for hours 4: Monokuma was playing it wrong which most likey pissed her off, because it's so simple 5: she watched as her friend's sat there, horrified 6: notice how she didn't hit any black keys she, only hit white keys.... The Monokubs playing the piano using Kaede is hilarious but really messed up. Poor Kaede, this execution is even sadder when Kaede is revealed to be falsely accused. 😥
Kaede's execution seems to foreshadow the other executions as well. The thorny vines on the case of the piano which is seen in Kirumi's execution, a rope as in Korekiyo's execution, a caterpillar statue that is seen during the end of Gonta's execution, the iron maiden which is used during Kaito's execution, and Kaede ended up getting crushed, similar to Tsumugi's "execution".

hot take: i think the twist would’ve hit better if shuichi and kaede swapped places. imagine starting off shuichi, a similar character to hajime and makoto, it feels familiar. not only that he’s the ultimate detective, so it feels like the game would be easy. but then suddenly ofc, he’s framed for murder and dies, and now you have to play as kaede. a confident girl who doesn’t really have detective skills though. it would’ve been such a jarring twist that i think would’ve hit the player better, especially too because it fully breaks the conventions of the series for once.

Considering the fact that it's the main protagonist that's getting executed I love the little details in the background that foreshadow the executions of the other culprits like the vines in Kirumi's execution being in the background and Kaede getting crushed is probably a reference to both Tsumugi, Makoto, and Kyoko. There are also some more but I'm pretty sure someones already made a comment calling out the little details.

The song "Der Flohwalzer" is mostly played on black keys, but in the execution it is played on white, to hint at the fact that Kaede is innocent. (If you kill someone, you are classified as a Blackend)
I believe that it's not confirmed, but popular theory is that Kaede's execution took around 8 hours, she survived that long by breathing every time she landed on a key.
Relating to the first fact, Der Flohwalzer is a pretty easy song to play. But in the execution the song was played wrong, probably annoying Kaede considering that she is the Ultimate pianist.
In the end when the case is closed, it was allegedly (I think) supposed to decapitate Kaede, but that was considered to be too brutal, so the monokid was decapitated instead.
Some people claim to hear the words "Innocent" whispered three times during the end of her execution, though I can't hear it myself.
Kaede enjoyed seeing the smiles on peoples faces when she played piano, however her last moments were spent being boo'd at and having rocks thrown at her, from her "playing" the piano.
Kaede truly believed that she was the killer, probably spending her last moments feeling guilty about a murder which she didn't commit.
To explain a bit, I think that the shot-put ball missed Rantaro, but the mastermind (No spoilers other then Kaede's case) threw another ball at Rantaro, and framed Kaede, which they could do since they were the mastermind.
That's it! Most of these are theoretical and controversial facts. I apologize if I got some of the details of the theories wrong.

2: the name sakura means cherry blossom. the name aoi means reliance of cherry blossom
3: kaede had to get 1 breath of air during every time she touched the keys on the piano. so she also had to do that for 2 hours if you pay attention to the clock.

Kaede's execution seems to foreshadow the other executions as well. The thorny vines on the case of the piano which is seen in Kirumi's execution, a rope as in Korekiyo's execution, a caterpillar statue that is seen during the end of Gonta's execution, the iron maiden which is used during Kaito's execution, and Kaede ended up getting crushed, similar to Tsumugi's "execution".
