i would love you to react to linger from the cranberries
That song is really powerful! It stands out in memory!
I want you to realize that there are children’s voices in the harmony aswell.
The dual meaning in the lyrics "the capillaries in my eyes are bursting" (can be both from rubbing one's eyes from fatigue or from physical abuse) as well as "so that he never lifts a finger" (refers to both him not having to do the work, and him not physically abusing her).
Capillaries also burst in many women during child labor.
@@greywitchwanderer9608Thank you! It happened to me birthing my son. ❤ Labour, indeed!
also could mean so he doesn't raise his hand and point fingers to blame her☹️
Also stress causes them to burst as well my mom thought she was dying from them bursting in one of her eyes and the doctor said it’s from extreme stress
Yes because we all know men don't work and it's women doing all the work 😂
You should definitely listen to the Cacophony version if you haven't yet. Somehow it makes me love this song so much more!
OMG! I was literally crying, when I heard the Cacophony arrangement.
This song is a masterpiece. The use of the pomegranate in this video reminds me of the Greek myth about Persephone and Hades.
They also say Eve in the Bible actually ate a pomegranate fruit not an apple.
@@michellesimmons3150 The biblical forbidden fruit is never identified, it's only ever described as פֶּ֫רִי, which is just the Hebrew word for "fruit". Pomegranates and apples are both possible among a wide range of others, in Islamic tradition it's usually associated with wheat or grapevines. Most likely whoever wrote the myth either didn't have a specific fruit in mind or envisioned it as a totally seperate fruit unlike any fruit still on Earth, the first time anyone really seemed to care about making it a specific fruit was when the association with it specifically being an apple came about in Western Europe, which was just a pun in Latin.
Strange how we thought we young feminists of the 60's corrected this. In some ways we were wrong. In some ways we are now right. Her video and song are excellent...depictive of the shallowness we can fall to. Oddly, we still have to fight for our rights sometimes. Thanks, Beth. Didn't expect this ...great song. ❤
The shouting that you’re thinking of is “Labour Cacophony” I believe. it’s absolutely brilliant.
the vocal layering in this song is wonderful, then she adds the alliteration, syncopation etc and it becomes even richer and more interesting..... this sound would sound amazing no matter what they lyrics were about. the combination of lyrics and vocal choices just elevates it even more
Every single time the song ends, I get shivers down my whole body and I know that’s my ancestors screaming but also holding me 🥹😭🥰🖤 This song changed my life 🫶🏻
As someone who is not on TikTok, the first time I came across Paris Paloma's viral sensation was through a Justin Hawkins reaction. I'm thankful to him for introducing me to this gem of a musical production and thankful to Beth for her added insight into the singing, the music, the lyrics and meanings of this song.
1:33 that high octave doubling on parts of the chorus is why I like this song so much. It’s such a minor thing but something about it catches my ear so well.
Spotify recommended this. I love how songs are produced. Very good
Listen to the cacophony version.
My favorite song! 🤩 Her vocals are gorgeous.
If you like Paris, you should check out Kiki Rockwell if you haven't already; that goes for anyone who see's this comment!
All of Paris’ stuff is great! My personal favorite is the fruits, but that was also the first one I heard.
You should also check out her song "notre dame"
SUCH a good song
Love the song
Love your videos! Keep it up!
SMASHING PATRIARCHY ONE DRIED EGG AT A TIME 💅
It's a misnomer that it's an anthem for young women. It's an anthem for *all* women, incl the older ones who went through this and their daughters who watched it happen
You should check out the cacophony version that just came out.
As a Swede, i would love to hear you take on an Abba song, i am metal/punk but Abbas song crafting and voices are timeless and perfect :)
I think she sounds very similar to Billie Marten…thought it was her when I first heard the song! Love your analysis as always Beth!
Actually you are incorrect, people can hear her next door, I know this for a simple reason, I'm her next door neighbour. Paris has a wonderful voice. Also she accepts the fact that I play the sax so we get on very well. Interesting fact? When she moved in I was nervous to tell her I played an instrument and she was nervous about disturbing me with music. We get on just fine. She is a lovely human being
You should watch the new version too. Not even for a video, I think every fem presenting person should watch the new version bc it's beautiful.
Please do The Beachland Ballroom by IDLES from their From the basement session!
Absolutely RAW vocals
Arise for the Matriarchal Egalitarian Revolution
Sounds a lot like Aurora
As a guy I'm not going to resonate with the 'feminism anthem ' bit , but, It is one of those rare beautifully crafted songs.
It is , also, in addiion to any direct feminist relevance, a brilliant study of a narcassitic individual and all the gaslighting that comes with that.
And how sad is that. Maybe if more men had empathy for the struggles of women, we still wouldn't be fighting for our rights.
Can you react to t pains live cover of Tennessee whiskey❤
