- An intriguing and engaging feminist anthem - musically and lyrically right up my alley.
Need to check out more from her.

Her eating the pomegranate is culturally for 1000s of years significant for women. It is one of the fruits that represents feminism and women in history. So something maybe youdidn’t know. It’s actually incredibly important.
She is finally eating the fruits of her labor and she isn’t a bit sorry. She’s destroying it.
I grew up in a high-demand religion. This song reminds me of the life I escaped by leaving, and makes me feel courageous about breaking the cycle for my kids. If I have any daughters, I hope they never understand what it's like to be comfortable in a subservient role. If I have sons, I hope they never feel comfortable with print people in that position, and I hope they are able to find connection, community, and empathy, rather than feeling isolated and bottled up like so many men have been raised to be.
This song really hits as a woman- loved seeing you take it in and actually HEAR her! Great reaction!
As a young woman, this songs hits true for me, my ancestors, and all the women around me. This song binds us all together because we have all experienced some form of this hatred.
I never comment, but this song makes me cry. It’s a song of grief about women struggling in relationships today, but it’s also rage expressed for the struggles of women in generations past.
The imagery both in the words and video are deep, even just her relighting her worn down candle while the equivalent on his end is barely touched
Capillaries in the eyes burst due to pressure - extreme crying, giving birth, or assault
I'd definitely recommend her other songs, personally my other favourite is "the fruits" which believe it or not has an even more controversial topic!!
I think as well as being about the traditional feminine roles, it could also apply to the expectations of the wealthiest classes towards workers.
Solid take, I concur
I highly recommend listening to more of her music, she is very talented. Oh and she is also my next door neighbour lol.
This is a powerful song. You have to really listen to the lyrics and the double meanings. It is just not about being made to do too much labor but issues that woman go through with men.
Thanks for reacting to this. Such a powerful song.
Should listen to her version of this song with 100 voices labour the cacophony same song but SO much more power!
Yes!❤
Yes!!
Almost every line of this song has multiple meanings, and each listen I find another one.
Never lifts a finger could mean does no work, but also could mean doesn't hit her.
Each reference of labor could mean work, could mean having children.
It's not an act of love if you make her could reference so many things, including the bedroom, or marriage in general.
It's not an act of love if you make her
This does not refer to working around the house this refers to activities in the bedroom.
It refers to all of it. Most of her lyrics have double or even triple meanings Working in the house. SA. Childbirth. All of it.
I think you're spot on with your interpretation. Good reaction 👍
I think it’s beyond mother or wife - this is the story of every woman.
Thanks for reacting to this! Have you watched Olivia Rodrigo's new video obsessed ? Or her video vampire? You might like her. Also, halsey has a feminist anthem to: it's called nightmare!
Very familiar with both - I Am Not A Woman.. is often played during my morning routine.
@@nickthepeasant I love both of them. Ps: I accidentally lost the heart when I edited my comment! 😅
