I'm pretty sure the issue is that the gas mask doesn't do filtering. You're supposed to have a filter on it, just like a prop sword is supposed to have a blade.
It doesn't even LOOK like there's a filter! It's like making a prop rifle that doesn't have a magazine! It's like making a prop computer that doesn't have a keyboard or a screen! i suggest that the bottle be painted black from the inside (except for the visor part) and use less tape on the outside, more on the inside. or you could add another bottle film on top of the electrical tape, and if any odd incisions need to be made to get the film around the protrusions, you could cover those incisions with a different color strip of tape so that it has a more modern look, for example, straight white/green (or any color really) lines at the bottom or sides of the "filters", the things made out of Tupperware and sink strainers, which would just be the tape covering the cut made to help you gt the film around the 'filters'
