The Wick x Hospital Rooms | Digital Art School, Hauser & Wirth

Mental health challenges impact one in four people in the UK annually, with over 90,000 admitted to inpatient facilities in 2023. Hospital Rooms addresses this through ‘Digital Art Schools’-artist-led workshops and free art materials for NHS inpatients.
In 2024, the charity expanded its reach, delivering online workshops and art supplies to every NHS mental health hospital in England. The exhibition at Hauser & Wirth London features over 2,000 sheets of A4 paper, each capturing a shared moment of creativity between patients, artists, and visitors. Recently, Hospital Rooms have been sending supplies to centres across the UK in the form of an ‘art box’, filled to the brim with goodies and high-quality materials. This edition is created by Brooklyn-based artist José Parlá.
A live auction with Bonhams on 11 September supports this initiative. The exhibition highlights works by over 90 artists, including murals by Nengi Omuku and pieces by Sara Berman and Sutapa Biswas, recently interviewed by The Wick.
Hospital Rooms by Hauser & Wirth is on show until 10 September 2024.
