I think the wrapping everything teaches kids to appreciate the small things and kind of puts everything at the same level. Like everything is a gift.

I love that whenever Erik gives Colleen a gift, he always has a thoughtful explanation behind it, even if it's as small as socks.

I don't know if there have been actual studies on this, but I've noticed that the vloggers who talk to their young kids like adults, instead of in a baby voice, those kids seem more advanced.

I cried tears of joy just seeing Colleen completely in her element. With her babies home and surrounded by family for Christmas. I’m so happy everyone is happy and healthy after such a stressful year.
My thoughts exactly!!! When she filmed Flynn on his back hoe and then filmed herself holding Maisy you can just see how her soul has begun to heal and the weight has been lifted. It makes me so so happy for them. 🥺❤️

My husbands died when our daughter was three, so it's only her and I. She is a senior in high school now.
For Christmas we do things a bit differently. It's started as a desperate measure and has turned into our Christmas celebration.
We are very poor, living on social security, so no we don't have the ability to buy thirty gifts for each other regardless of how much we wish we could. And as our landlord raised the price of rent higher and higher things became really bad right before Christmas. I told my daughter I really couldn't afford to buy her much. If it's a choice between gifts or food and a roof over our heads, you can imagine which one wins. Anyhow, since I really want something for Jaden to open for Christmas, even if it wasn't some big gift or even what she wanted, I went to Walmart searching for the dumbest cheapest and funniest gifts I could find for around $100.
I found them 😁.
Ridiculous gifts, like Star Wars hand sanitizers, Reindeer poop (which happened to be little fire crackers), "Chutes and Ladders" (because it was $10 and was funny to give to a teenager), festive socks, an exfoliating sponge of Sponge-Bob, a giant Hersey kiss etc...just silly inexpensive stuff. Spent the next morning opening up these weird presents and laughed for hours. Even played "Chutes and Ladders" for a good hour. It was hilarious.
Now every year we basically do the same thing. Although I do try to buy at least one thing Jaden really wants. But the morning of Christmas is spent cracking up at each other to see who bought the dumbest gifts.
It may not be big and extravagant...but it's our tradition and I'm thankful for it.

I don’t have enough words to express how beautiful this is, unconditional love is truly the best gift a parent can give. My dad abandoned me and it’s been the worst feelings I’ve ever experienced. flynn knowing the twins' names but not being able to associate them with genders is the funniest and cutest thing. when wesley made crying like sound and flynn asked if you could protect him was so precious, it got me in tears. he's already the best big brother 🥺
it was an adorable moment, but there is no need to force gender unto babies including Flynn. arcing him to correct the pronouns he uses to describe babies that haven't expressed how they want to identify is quite retrograde and conditional as well as cis normative in 20almost22

OMG, Flynn brought tears to my eyes. "Can you protect them?" He wanted to make sure they were protected so he could go check out his toys. Sweet, protective brother.
The fact that Flynn asks for you to protect them melts my heart. He expresses wesley needs comfort by saying "protect" and has no issues "sharing" you with them. He knows mom's protection makes him feel better so mom's protection will make babies feel better too ❤❤

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR HER CHRISTMAS VLOG OMG!!! These vlogs are the only thing keeping me going at this time. Life is so hard and seeing Colleen cry happy tears over her newborn babies and Flynn laughing and saying WOOOOWWWW. It just makes my day so much better! Also seeing Erik in the hater back iff pants made me laugh so much.

Seeing Flynn on Christmas Day actually made me tear up. I love my parents but they were never too festive. you guys made his day so so special. Flynn has such a wholesome family and I can’t wait for Wesley and maisy to experience this love.

I tried to infuse some Ballinger magic into our Christmas this year. We celebrated with my parents/brothers on the 18th and i triiiieeed to get them all to slow down and just bask in it, and no dice. My mom said “yes I want to savor it” and then have us unwrap everything at the same time 🤦🏻♀️ So on Christmas with my kids I asked my husband that we sit in a circle and everyone take turns one at a time. And everyone was so much more grateful, so much more patient. I loved it. Will continue to try and take Christmas morning as slowly as possible from here on out.

This is the sweetest!! It’s so wholesome and warms my heart. It so reminds me of holidays with my mother in law. The massive pile of gifts, littles screaming with delight. Christmas hasn’t been the same since we lost my mother in law, and a few years later, my mom. I’m just so grateful for the years we had together and the memories my kids now have of huge christmases. Enjoy every moment with your amazing family and Happy Holidays!!
We've always done it one at a time. Our kids love being able to watch our faces when we open a gift from them and vice versa. I feel like if we all open at the same time, we will miss a reaction of something we thought long and hard about giving. We take breaks...but it's a very special time taking those moments to appreciate each other and the thoughtfulness of giving.

In my husband’s family, everyone opens everything all at once. It baffles me because in my family we all open one thing every hour, with full attention on the person opening each gift. I absolutely LOOOOVE it because it drags the fun of Christmas out all day, instead of spending weeks prepping, only for it to end in an hour. 😊❤️
