I’ve seen Criss Angel live many times and yes of course on TV he does have editing but live I’m gonna have to say it racks your brain how he does the illusions and tricks. And yes we all know every magician is doing tricks and illusions and there’s trickery and misdirection involved, but it’s pretty amazing how they do it. I’ve seen Penn & Teller live as well and it’s no different, they’re the same as Criss Angel in what they do, so for him to rag on Angel is pretty shitty because he is exactly the same.

it's probably so easy for him to do interviews as well. He's done thousands of magic shows where he has to talk and do complex tricks at the same time. So just asking him questions in an interview must be as easy as breathing to him.

I've been to live shows with Penn and Teller, David Copperfield, Lance Burton, and Sigfried and Roy, and I enjoyed seeing P&T and David Copperfield the most. But Penn and teller were the only ones that let my wife and I take a picture standing with them.

Penn has always torn open the curtains of other magicians that he thinks are full of themselves. He even shows the audience how his an Teller's tricks are done. No pretention. That's what I like about him. He blows the lid off of the magician's community.

Penn &Teller don’t always fool me , 85% of the time they do but as an amateur magician, I feel to enjoy the whole act I think you have to be baffled by at least one small bit.
I saw Chris Funk a couple months ago. He did some things I just have no idea about.

I think Copperfield was one of those that called himself an Illusionist and joked that he did so cos he got paid more.
Copperfield actually did do a lot of illusions though. As Penn noted, it just means a certain type of magic performance, there's illusions and there's tricks, Copperfield is actually one of the bigger illusionists. Some of his most famous performances like making the statue of liberty disappear are illusions.
David Copperfield is phenomenal! I saw him live as a kid. There's just nobody else like him
There's actually a shocking number of magicians that also like to fuck underage kids. Shit look at you, all these years later and you still act spellbound....but I guess he just has that special way with most kids. I guess I was lucky that even as a kid it was obvious he'd never be able to do ANY of that bullshit if not on tv. Guy's a fucking creep and is unquestionably fond of raping kids, at this point it's more accurate to say "CHILD RAPIST with allegations he was a magician".

I saw David Copperfield at the Fox Theatre in Buckhead (Atlanta). I’ve see a lot of magicians but his show was spine tingling. I love magic and am weird I guess as I don’t want to know how it’s done. I just like believing in magic. Penn and Teller warp my brain cells. I love them.

I remember when I was a kid and I believed Criss Angel could really levitate. I wanted to believe so hard I convinced myself that he was mixing tricks and real power to work as a magician.

Go to an old school magic store, and watch them try and sell you a 8 $ card trick, cups and balls, a card trick, on the black padded table using their hands, it will blow your mind and you will be completely lost on how the trick was done, and Teller touched on this, it should be the base line in a magic trick, how did they do it? Chris Angels tricks would take a three year old to figure

I went to see Penn and Teller and it was the BEST show I've ever seen in Vegas, and that includes David Copperfield. I went to see Criss Angel and at the end of the show i was pissed off... i wanted my money back! Penn is absolutely right about him!
The overwhelming majority of negative comments I see about Chris Angel are always related to his TV shows. Can anyone speak to his live performances in Vegas?
I saw him perform about 12 or more years ago in a small theater in NYC. And I thought the show was pretty entertaining--very goth, rock and roll, there may have been some monsters--as I recall.

In short, if Criss Angel performed at your party, it would suck.
And Criss Angel claims to show us how tricks that others do are done, except only the Criss Angel versions require certain camera angles and / or a fake crowd. If the people that David Blaine meets in the streets are plants then he is amazing at finding actors that are better than any screen actor ever while Criss Angel finds normal people that are obviously acting surprised at his non-tricks.

Although I agree, his old theatrical live shows before then seemed really cool. Back when he wore the mask. Especially with his and/or Klayton's music. It was like an alt. concert meets theatre meets magic show. It was actually a spectacle.

I went to Chris angels show in December of last year,it was awesome.i wasn't sure about it at first , read reviews etc etc,a lot like the ones on here,but went anyways,bought the cheapest seats we could , 64 bucks I think,right before the show,there were a few seats not sold,so a woman came and asked me and my girlfriend , and the 3 other people if we would follow her,so we did,got 3rd row seats,saw everything , exciting ,it was a great show,so if you haven't seen him live , go check it out,we had a lot of fun

Dynamo is the "editing room" magician, even more so than Angel. Watch just about any of his televised tricks and go through them one frame at a time, you'll see how many different editing tricks are used. He is really a hack in the worst sense of the word.

I saw one of Dynam's live lectures and it was the most disappointing things that I've ever witnessed. He couldn't do anything live.
Angel's tricks often require a crowd to act like it was real and that always fails so to me that makes him the biggest hack ever. It is like he accepts how terribly fake it all looks even though he could hire better actors or do a few more takes, etc...

You have to realize that the strangers Chris appears to meet randomly on the street aren't actually strangers. They're people he knows that are part of his act. In fairness it's important to note that when David Copper Field does a trick like making and airplane or the Statue of Liberty disappear the 25 or so people sitting on bleachers watching are actually members of the show's crew not actual audience members.

I never liked Chris Angel. I remember a friend claiming I had to see him perform a trick. The trick was he got cold and didn't die.
It’s pretty fucking easy to walk through a pane of glass when you cut the camera and resume the shot after the glass has been removed. And when you pay actors to look amazed.
Not disagreeing or agreeing, but its not a cut. If you ever have one of those magic kits, you’ll know the basic concept and how he used that concept to the walk through glass. The glass is the gimmick. All it takes is some paid actors and a really good gimmick. No camera trickery.

I’ve been to both live on stage in Vegas! I thought they were great .. It all in presentation and the wow factor for me.. Chriss Angel show was live in my face and I didn’t see him twinkle his nose or bewitched anything... Penn and teller was awesome 👏 But I highly doubt they’ll try walking up and ladder or swallowing razor blades anytime soon!!
No one swallows razor blades. It's slight of hand. Also 80% of criss angle is staged. I love em but it's true.
