You actually had the koalas climbing quite a bit in this one! Glad you got their space requirements figured out.
The donation bins don't necessarily need to be next to the education boards, but the more educated guests are, the more they will donate. So, yes, it does make sense to have the bins closer to the boards because the guests will view the animal / education first and then donate more as a result :) With the education heat map you can see the radius of each item, so you could probably place the donation bins anywhere within that radius and it should have the same result!

This is shaping up to be a really cool series! I love the idea of the zoo, and I'm excited to see more!
In regards to the animals being rescues, two of the main things Australian wildlife rescues (and zoos/wildlife parks) rescue animals from are bushfires and car accidents. Over 10 million animals die every year on our roads, and loads are injured too, occasionally leaving orphaned joeys. If you decide to later add Tasmanian Devils, you could also talk about Devil Facial Tumour Disease, and how your zoo is part of the breeding program!
Blinky or Bill could be cool names for one of the koalas, in reference to the Aussie kids show Blinky Bill lol
Finally, while the foliage does look awesome, if you really want to get that outback vibe, I'd recommend filtering the plants by desert/grassland/temperate, as the fan palms especially (and other tropical plants) would die very quickly outside of their native rainforests :)
