Chuck, great idea to run the lathe in reverse when cutting the recess in the swivel base. It's so much easier to monitor what's going on. The laser inconsistency is strange. It doesn't help with the tapered surface. I'd be trying to drag engrave the divisions using the rotary table tilted to keep the engraved surface level. It won't help with numerals unless you could CNC that part. Regards, Preso
pretty spiff there chuck... those little vises can be a real asset... i need to find one or make one too someday. say are you gonna join in on the tipsblitz this year??
Good one Chuck . With a vice that small , i would only be marking every second degree . The ones in between can easily be split by eye . Was that a casting kit ? Cheers 👍
Nice tip about looking out for heli coil taps mixed in with regular taps.
Looks like you are having a good time with the laser. I think Howie makes a good supervisor. Thanks for the video keep on keeping on.
Lots of learning going on with this project. Nice Chuck.
pssst.. Randy: tipsblitz😶
The little vice is looking great... Small details are not easy, nice work

Hello Chuck,
The vice is looking great... also well done on walking the plank, the older i get the more wobbly I get...
Take care.
Paul,,
Fabulous job on the vise there Chuck.
I am surprised Howie didn’t go swimming!

I don't know, Chuck. I think the ramp to your dock is 2 thousands out to the right... ;)
That is not Chuck walking the plank it is an AI double...he is too smart a man to do that [I THINK] Now "THAT"S ENTERTAINMENT"
*_You need a fiber laser for that and the rotary attachment to engrave those lines._*
Making ingravings is always a challenge. Well, that's my opinion :)
Mine too. 🤔
