    I’m with you. I (almost) never carry a bike lock with me when I’m on my Brompton. If I can’t bring my Brompton inside a building or shop, I don’t go in. Good video!

      I don't have a Brompton yet but about to get a P-Line (12 or 4 speed).
      Do stores sometimes object to you entering with the bike when folded?

    I’m doing between 300 and 400 km per month on my Brompton. This is for short trips plus commuting to work. I get through a set of tyres per year, and a couple of couple of chains and cogs a year. I find that rims last about 3 years and hinges about the same. I’m pretty relaxed about this as eventually mechanical things wear out and in comparison with my car servicing costs is so much less. Thanks for your films.

    Hi Brian, how many bicycles have you got at home?. When I was younger I had twelve….Now only four, three cats, two dogs and a family. Enjoy it my friend!!!

    Looking forward to seeing what you get done to the Brommie. I have found a brilliant lock for mine, it looks like a tie wrap and is really small to carry around

    i bought a used brompton back in 2009 from a college kid who also bought it from someone else. so i'm the 3rd owner of the brompton. i rode the brompton to work for a year or 2 (8 miles) and occasionally weekend group ride here or there. also started doing part time food delivery during the pandemic averaging about 10 miles each day here or there since 2020. i had countless flat and tires replace from bike shop. i bought my brompton to a brompton junction shop back in 2022 and they suggested a complete overhaul replacement like hinge pins etc. the cost was almost buying a new cheap brompton model. they said it is dangerous riding my used brompton. but so far, knock on wood i'm still riding my brompton just fine. so i'm taking my chance.

      I would do the same thing, but I’m getting ready to take it on a long tour so I need the bike to be in top notch shape. Fortunately the repairs are cheaper than buying a new bike.😁👍

      Buy the special tool and do the work yourself; there is the upgraded copper washer for the hinge pin that will last a long time. The SA hub is very simple and bulletproof, some grease every few years, or a few drops of oil into the shift chain...

      @@tdgdbs1 by the way, it's quite a pleasure to work on your own bicycle and be able to fix small to medium issues yourself. I bought 10 and 15 mm wrench, a set of small hex wrenches and other cheap stuff. Now I fix flat tires, replace tires, today I replaced internal gear hub indicator. Very easy to do, but at the same time expensive if you use service (and there's no waiting time, you can start immediately and your Brompton will be fixed in 20 minutes).

      The cost incurred by a fall might be way higher than tonfix it, no?

    Hi, great video! Just want to know how tall you are as you use the low bar, I am 6 ft and wondered if it would be too low for me?

    • @ibikeunfolded
      @ibikeunfolded  2 місяці тому +1

      I am 6’1”, but I find a more bent over position comfortable because of my back. You may or may not find that comfortable.. …just something to consider.

    Dont forget to have the seatpost sleeve replaced on the Brompton. Be safe Bryan.

    These bikes are such intelligent pieces of design. Wish i could afford one, but being retired and not much capital coming in, I'll make do with something else. // Question; Cruiser and Hobo Cyclists, on UA-cam, use bikes of the same frame design. I wonder if you have any experience with those style of frames. Cruiser, has the cheapest bike on Amazon and his bike has worked out so well for him. He's been upgrading it for a couple of years. Can you recommend this kind of bike for a backyard bike mechanic that likes tinkering?

    Doing all the replacements and having a shop to do the work, is it cheaper than buying a new Brompton?

    Hi. Instead of wearing your backpack on the back, why dont you suspend it on the handlebar, so that it is between the handlebar and the seatpos? It works very well for me.

    I had my Crank changed to one with Ceramic balls, and from titanium, at the first, Free Service (Actually it is part of the price, and not at all "free"). But I don't use it regularly, as you do! Finn. Denmark
