Ben, thanks a lot! This video really helps. See you on the channel soon!
Thanks, glad it helped! More Optics content coming along. You can always find the latest ones here : borisfx.com/videos/?tags=product:Optics&search= But as you're a subscriber, you should see them in your UA-cam feed as they come out. :D
This is pure sorcery!!
Nice tutorial
Thanks Ashok!
In my version, for opacity, blur, etc., all i i have is a key pad and i have to type in a percentage. How do I get sliders like in the video? Thanks
Hi there. Thanks for the question. We actually got rid of the sliders to make more space for the viewer. But if you click and drag your mouse in the parameter number, it actually works like a slider without having to look like a slider.
Let me know if that helps.
Thank you for this tutorial. Is there a way of copying the mask so it can be used within Photoshop, too?
Not directly. There is a workaround that lets you do it. It's a bit too involved for a UA-cam reply. I'll add that to the tutorial request list.
@@BorisFXco Ok, thank you very much! Perhaps a future version might offer the option of "Save as..." when right clicking the mask? :-)
This is a great idea. Will let the development team know it's a feature request.
@@BorisFXco would be very much appreciated yes ! thanks !
A very helpful tutorial! But I have a basic problem using the Optics filters and effects. In this tutorial you say you are applying an effect, and then choose skin tones, and then browse through those. I can't tell from the video how you are getting the Skin Tones category to come up! Are you clicking one of the Light icons? Render? mage? I can't find skin tones anywhere! Please help, thank you so much!
Skin Tone is in the Grads/Tints category.
Hi, in some programs you can make the brush draw in a straight line by pressing Alt + click, can this be done in Optics to draw straight lines. Thanks
We don't have that currently in Optics. But it's a great idea and I'll add it to the feature request list.
@@BorisFXco Thanks 👍
I have a question, Boris FX Optics 2022 works full in win 10 ? not in 7?
Optics has been tested in Windows 10. We haven't done any testing for it in Windows 7.
when adding stylize filter showing cross
You need to reinstall with the licence key from your order confirmation. If you are still having problems after that, please contact support : borisfx.com/support/open-a-case/
I'm sure this has been asked before, but there's no way to generate or export masks back into Photoshop, is there?
Not yet. But you're not the first person to ask, so I can't say anything else (wink).
@@BorisFXco OK, I'll be patient. (Or 'patient zero' if you prefer😀)
Bro.....All filters are black background and red line are cros ....how to fix this issue ??????????
You should try to uninstall and reinstall with your license key. The red cross is a sign that your Optics is unlicensed. If you are still having problems please contact Support : borisfx.com/support/open-a-case/
I haven't tried the trial yet, but is there a way to export the mask itself into PS to use the masking technology from Boris FX to create the mask, and then place it on an adjustment layer in PS?
Not directly. There is a workaround to create use a Color effect with an EZ mask on it, to create a black and white image to use as an alpha channel. But it isn't as easy as the standalone EZ Mask filter that used to be available. I'll pass your comment on to the development team to see what we can do.
The huge miss is that you can't export mask in to the photoshop. That plugin is useless without that function.
We hear you about wanting that feature but disagree strongly about it being "useless" obviously :) This is very high up on the feature request list for the next version.
If you really want to take the mask out, here's a simple workaround for the current version.
i) Apply a Color effect, set to Black. Add an EZ Mask to mask out the background.
ii) Add a second Color Effect, set to White. Duplicate the EZ Mask up to this layer. Invert it. You now have a black and white matte to do with as you please. Apply the effect.
iii) In the Photoshop Channels palette, Ctrl/Cmd-click on the RGB layer to create a selection. Hit the Save Selection as Channel button and you have it saved to use as many times as you want.
Takes maybe *15 seconds* to do when you have done it a couple of times.
Masking ain't good. Photoshop on it's own produces much better masks
Optics also runs as a Photoshop filter, if you care to use its newer AI based object selection, but still use the filters from Continuum and Sapphire within PS.
@@BorisFXco Sure but Boris need to upgrade the masking as it's really not great
