I think everyone is basically ignoring this, these people of EARTH, have there very own tribal planet where they are IMMORTAL and have multiple Super powers. These people could be some of the most powerful in the MCU and I think that’s awesome
What I like about Kahhori is that even though she does pick up her powers really quickly, mostly because of the length of the media her story was told in, but it doesn’t stop her from struggling. She couldn’t immediately get home, she couldn’t do the acrobatic flip stuff Atahraks did to get down the tree, and she couldn’t take on the whole Spanish army even though she was so powerful. She still needed help and to learn which I think is what still made her compelling.
@@shadowX2121Did they though because she was transported to a new and different world where they can access immense power not knowing anything about it and arriving seconds ago and yet she could just suddenly go faster then everyone in the hunt and carry more fruit then anyone with powers she learned about at most 10 minutes prior and I know they said “even being here changes you” but I don’t think it would change her that drastically

I get that everyone loves an underdog story but not all of them have to be like that.
Yes, there are some people who take to things quickly, but not EVERYONE. They used to do that. Tony fell on his face making suits, Cap gas missions fail, Thor becomes unworthy. When you just get powers, are great, and not risking anything then what's the character? She could take on an army alone bc she fell in a lake. This was a bad intro to any character.
@mikemiken1963 so we're gonna act like she didnt also fall on her face during this episode? Also Tony was born a genius and built a circuit board at 4 years old so...
@@mikemiken1963 2/3rds of the episode was her learning the powers and openly, on-screen, in FRONT OF OUR FACES, failing repeatedly before finally getting the hang of things and excelling. Go be a lazy critic somewhere else.
Easily the best What If episode to me. It felt so fresh, distinct, and fitting for the bigger world. It has that phase 2 energy of discovery, but with better story telling by and large.
I’m assuming since she was shot and an open wound was what lead her to coming out most powerful, we can safely assume she was the first or only to fall/go into the lake once wounded
That was my assumption that because she was shot some of the energy of the stone got in her as she was being transported to Sky World. Making her more attuned to the energy.
That might be a part of it, but I think the Watcher explains the main idea: she has a goal in mind, people to fight for, she has and keeps her purpose. The other ones in that Sky World live peacefully, without any drive to change the world. She wants to go back to save her people. That's what elevates her.
Thats a good thing to point out. For me tho, I just thought that because the people in the other world weren’t facing colonization, they didnt have to live up to their potential.
As a Native American this episode felt really good and I love how they did a What If The Natives Won and it was very respectful of our culture and the pacing felt good
@@davvistavaratipula4276Imagine not knowing how the conquest of the New World happened and try to discredit someone while being more ignorant than them. Embarrassing. The Spanish conquered many parts of North America, like Florida and a lot of what is Texas, California, Nevada, etc. today, before the English and the Americans eventually took over those lands. In that conquest they also massacred a bunch of people. To the scale that the English (and, eventually, the Americans) did? Probably not, but saying “tHe SpAnIsH dId NoT mUrDeR yOu” is ignorant at best and intentionally misleading at worst.
@@davvistavaratipula4276eh, that parts debatable. Id say both had some conflicts with the natives but regardless it wasn't murder. It was war, and one side won. Simple as that
Imagine wanda's reaction when she sees kahhori run like that and how it would remind her of Pietro And I noticed that kahhori 's powers are a mix of wanda and pietro's powers
To the ones complaining about the speed in which Kahorri learned and mastered her powers, have to understand expedited storytelling. If they had more time to tell the story, it likely could've taken longer. There's also an explanation within the story itself with the Tesseract itself. It can be explained away that it was "telling" her how to use its powers.
I just assumed time moved differently in the sky world, on earth everything seems to have taken place in the span of an afternoon while at least two days seems pasted in sky world.
@Andrew-Bastin I agree. Too often, it seems like some people need their hands held the entire time and need to see every little thing spelled out for them. I can usually fill in those blanks with my own imagination until which time I see something established in canon.
@@Andrew-Bastin I thought the same as well, we don't really know how the time there is compared to our reality. Also there's nothing wrong with someone learning something fast, that is a thing that happens sometimes
Lol. How? She just gets powers that make her invincible and then stands up for her family. No risk, no character. Standing next to an infinity stone to get powers has already been done twice.
I see how fast she learned the powers as the same with how when people surrounded by others gifted in the same skills as they the time it takes to learn shortens. She wasn't alone learning she had people who knew what to do, so she learned fast.
Very entertaining. Enjoyed it more than I thought with this new one. Animation continues to deliver. Curious the cliffhanger about Strange Supreme is all about. You guys always crack me and appreciate it haha
Kahorri is now the second Mohawk character I’ve seen in fiction and I loved. The first is Connor Kenway from Assassin’s Creed. To me stories made about Native Americans have always been the most compelling and beautiful to consume. I also love the sound of the Mohawk language so much. I really really hope we see more of Kahorri in the future
Same bro, it was so much nostalgic for me as AC 3 was my first Ac game and I loved playing that game especially with Connor Kenway and exploring the native village and jungle, this was episode is probably one of my favourites of Wht If series
Fun fact: Kahhori and Echo are two different tribes. I know you dont really understand the differences, i just wanted to educate and explain that. Great reaction as always
@@namfingerstyle8403 more like Columbus found it because Queen Isabel and King Fernando funded his expedition to find a shorter path to India. That's why they called the natives "indians" since they thought they had actually arrived into India.
I enjoyed the reminder at the beginning of of land-healthy Native farming practices like growing corn squash and beans together. The beans climb the corn, the squash leaves shade the ground and keep weeds down, and the veans put lots of nitrogen into the soil that fertilizes everyone involved.❤ I'm a plant nerd, and this brought me JOY in the weirdest most wonderful way 🥰🥰🥰
*GIVE US MORE OF THIS WORLD, AND OF KAHHORI!* I was actually brought to tears at this point episode, because to often in tv and especially in movies do we see Native Americans portrayed only as victims who were robbed of everything, but in this world, they stood up and succeeded in defending their home. And it was thanks to a young Mohawk woman named Kahhori. This has been my most anticipated anticipated episode of What If for the past year, and far exceeded my high expectations. I would absolutely love to see more of Kahhori. In comics, tv, and especially in movies.
We need five times as much of this as we got tonight, in live action. Make the movie Marvel then portal her into the MCU so she fully realizes the gift the Tesseract was for her people. I loved it entirely. Bittersweet.
Listen. This was, for me, the single best 30 minutes of content marvel has ever put on screen. I said what I said. I need an ongoing book featuring Kahhori. I need her in movies. More appearances in shows. I need it all. Absolutely spectacular, from conceptualization to actualization and beyond.
Why do people like her so much? She took up the spot of an actually interesting What If episode. Give her a miniseries if your really want her in the MCU, don't make me sit for 30 minutes bored.
I like the idea that this story is related almost as a parable, as many historical tales and biographies are written and shared. As a parable, her acclimating to her brand new powers so quickly and powerfully becomes viable for me wholly. Also the idea of predestination of particular individuals among their peers/communities is additionally viable. And I likewise loved the episode principally being in not just one but two languages.
I'm sure she will get into the comics. Reminds me of Thane. Because of the time interval involved in creating, printing, and releasing the first comic he appeared in, he was actually in Marvel Avengers Alliance before that first issue hit the shops. Kahhori was added to Marvel Future Fight in the "What If...?" Update that just happened a few weeks ago. Along with Uniforms for Super Nova Nebula, Ta Lo Hela, and WenWu.
Personally I think it’s they should have done the Translation Convention or at least do more physical story telling than dialogue scenes. Personally I think all animated projects should dub bc of the inherent visual elements
@@TheGrimStrideI get that, but I think you can feel the emotions in the voice of the characters and still read, maybe because English isn't my first language and when I was learning watching animated movies with subtitles was frequent so I am more used to it.
And they went with Spaniard Spanish and not Mexican Spanish even when Kahori is speaking to the queen, she while having an accent uses words most used in Spain that is was great most of the time they put a neutral or Mexican Spanish, they didn't this time
I feel it’s also important to point out that all the people living in the Sky World had powers, not just Kahori. They all could use the same powers she could. The only differences are that Kahori was just a fast learner, and she had a reason to try and get back to the real world. Her motivation to save her people allowed her to harness that power quicker than the others who had essentially gotten comfortable living in peace.
See now if the would have explained that people wouldn’t have as much of an issue with it. Now I liked the concept but it was too much for a 30 minute episode. I want to like it more but have so many unanswered questions.
@@looming416First of all, as you said yourself they can only compile so much within 30 minutes. Secondly, story’s aren’t meant to tell you everything. Fiction is meant to be interpreted, if media told you everything what’s there to interpret? I really hate how people expect storytellers to handhold them and give every single thing about their stories nowadays.
@@Jgamer-jk1bp one I didn’t say everything I’m completely fine with leaving some things up to interpretation but not major things that halt the story. They just skip over some things and say just accept it because it’s 30 minutes. It’s a lazy excuse when all they needed to do was cut back a little and explain some of the new concepts a little more.
@@looming416 The problem I have with this ‘issue’ you’re saying is that they intend for you to figure out in your own, like if this commenter were replying on can figure it out, why can’t you and everyone else do?
Definitely my favourite episode! Was wondering though if What If was the right medium to introduce Kahhori though, as she is not in 636, but I may be jumping the gun a bit as episode 9 may put all my reservations about the introduction of Kahhori in a non 636 universe at rest. One things for sure, I think it was good Kahhori was introduced in animation form. Bring on Episode 9!
Kahhori has an indomitable spirit which gave her a true purpose that's why she was so in tune with the tesseract power set. Easily my favorite episode of the series and new favorite Marvel character.
This is exactly what I wanted from "What If...?" from the very beginning! This was a brilliant introduction to an original character! Kahhori was amazing! This whole episode did everything right! 10/10! I need more of this! I loved this so much! What an ending! This might be one of the few episodes of Marvel television on Disney plus that I call a full-on masterpiece!
I absolutely loved this episode more than any other and I love all the previous episodes. I would reference maybe how Psych upped its game in Season 2 like you referenced Parks & Rec!
It would figure a Spanish conquistador would go all the way to Upstate New York, or rather the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, to follow rumors of a Fountain of Youth. Spanish expeditions went all over the place in North America looking for the Fountain. And gold. They *_really_* like gold. By the way, they were speaking Mohawk throughout the episode, and they did indeed have consultants regarding the language and the myths to tie into the Tesseract landing there instead in that universe.
Anything but making the english look bad, that's a staple in recent Hollywood. Even in Prey they chose to portray frenchmen as the baddies. And that's still much more accurate than portraying spaniards having conflicts with the Mohawks (since they were mostly focused on central and south America, leaving the north for the english and french)
@@brianlombera1826 They never got to even meet the Mohawks. They reached San Francisco but ignored the Northeast part of North America, since that belonged to the english and french. It's just one quick google search my guy.
@@javiherbou87 I think what the episode was about was a number of native people they just happened to use the Mohawk language. I don't disagree with you in terms of history. But people often do leave Mexico out of the dialog of North America when it is in fact part of it. Therefore often people born in that area are not seen as Native and are only seen as other because they were colonized by the Spanish. I bring this up because the Spainsh did have a hung impact on North America.
I love this episode. This is probably one of my top favorites of the season. Kahhori is a very amazing character and she's a brilliant addition to the MCU. Y'all keep mentioning Pocahontas and I totally felt the vibes here. And we gotta appluad Marvel for giving the Mohawk Nation the representation they obviously did it right. I'm crying tears of joy because that was by far the best episode of this show so far and it's A COMPLETELY ORIGINAL CHARACTER! Marvel managed to do what i thought wasn't possible for them anymore.
What a great episode, and a great origin story. By the way, the actress who voices Kahhori is also in "Echo". However, she's casted as a character named Bonnie, who is apparently Maya's cousin. No other information's listed in regards to any connection to Kahhori's character, hopefully there's something there.
watching all of these reviews at the end of the year like a marathon. Happy 2024, ye groovy people. and i LOVED that Kahhori episode: fresh, new, promising, well built, respectful, feels true, quite nice. hoping to see more Kahhori.
"Many Hispanics are proud of our Spanish and indigenous heritage. This representation by Marvel is offensive to us, to our indigenous and Spanish ancestors. Queen Isabel of Spain cared about the well-being of the indigenous people in America (read her will), something that Queen Isabel of England did not do. England was the most genocidal empire in history; the indigenous people in the USA were nearly exterminated, which did not happen in Hispanic America. Long live Hispanic heritage! Long live America (The Continent)! Long live Spain and our indigenous peoples!"
An amazing episode and amazing season thus far. I would absolutely love to see Kahhori make her comic debut in the future, both in 616 and in other Universes. Bit of a fun fact, Devery Jacobs, the actress voicing Kahhori in What If, is not only Mohawk herself (which as you saw and mentioned at the end of the episode is the people that collaborated with this episode), but is also going to have a role in Echo, so perhaps Kahhori is an ancestor to her character in Echo or her Echo character is secretly Kahhori herself but the Sacred Timeline version or whatever. Whatever the case, I want to see more of the Kahhori character, so Marvel, in the words of Jean-Luc Picard "make it so". Also, to answer Coy's question, I myself like corn as well, corn on the cob, corn dogs, popcorn (and its cousin kettle corn), candy corn, the band Korn, etc. But in all seriousness I do like corn many different ways, as well as those other varieties of "corn" I listed previously.
I don't think Echo can be related to Kahhor because without Surtur destroying Asgard or Odin giving the Tesseract to Kahhori's ancestors, she wouldn't have gotten the powers. Kahhori would have just died at the hands of the Spanish.
@@drakenefx2816 That doesn’t matter because Kahhori’s tribe would have been destroyed anyway. The settlers still cleared the native people from their path.
YES!!!! I'm actually up early enough to catch you "fresh!" LMAO!!!!! Greg, I agree with your brother: we need a two-hour version!!! And sadly, the only corn I can half-digest is popcorn. :(
I don’t think there’s a way to connect Kahhori to Echo except for maybe just mentioning the legend of a Native American named Kahhori? Idk just because Kahhori is Mohawk but Echo is Choctaw and those regions were not very close so it’s not like they’re from the same tribe/nation. Anyway, love getting to see powerful Indigenous characters as superheroes! 👏
Whenever I saw this episode, it gave me joy because my ancestors were the Aztecs/The Mexica, or Mexika people were conquered by the Spanish conquistadors, and this gave me so much excitement that what if the indigenous people from around the world weren't conquered by settlers. Imagine that this world will be full of surprises and joy.
Loved this episode. Really felt like a Marvel origin comic. However, I doubt it's going to tie into Echo. If Kahhori appears later, there might be a nice moment where she and Maya reflect on their ancestry, but they aren't even a part of the same tribes (vaguely Mohawk and Oklahoma Choctaw, respectively). When Kahhori refers to helping her people, she does mean all indigenous Americans, but I feel like Echo is just its own thing. But it might. I hope it doesn't, as it promotes the mushing together of all Native people that's far too prevalent in media, but it might.
I absolutely adored this episode. So much could be explored here and the fact that they took the time to tell a story almost entirely in two different languages just shows how much Marvel wants to expand their worlds. I would love to see Kahhori in live action or if we could get like a movie expanding on her world more, that be awesome!
I wanna see Kahhori live action, mcu's first original hero is BADASS I love her, also the animation was drop dead GORGEOUS. Side note, Greg for you to dislike corn... that hurts me man.. hurts😔
Not sure how Kahhori is gonna tie into Echo, guys Considering this episode takes place in another universe where Surtur killed Odin, and Echo takes place in our universe
To answer your question in a single word, Multiverse. We can get the Sacred Timeline version of Kahhori in Echo while still having the What If version of Kahhori existing separately, in much the same way we have Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland all as Spider-Man, they all exist in separate Universes from each other, but they are all still Spider-Man.
@@margarithadamaledo6631 doesn't mean she couldn't have gotten her powers a different way or gotten them later than her What If version. Basically, the origin does not need to be *exactly* the same in every version, it can occur at different points in time, or be gotten in different ways. It's also possible too that Kahhori does/did exist in the Sacred Timeline, and that her descendants are the ones to get the powers. Basically, Kahhori's can exist throughout the Multiverse, and they don't all have to be exactly the same, that's kinda the point of a Multiverse.

People learning powers quickly is not an issue. Hasn’t that been the case in every movie since the beginning of filming. I thought that time works differently there and she’s there for a long time. I don't quite understand your disliking of the speed in which Kahhori mastered her newfound powers. I mean I've never understood why anyone dislikes characters who learn things fast. Perhaps they feel insecure about their own ability (or inability) and want fictional characters to be just as helpless as they are? Perhaps their self esteem is low that they wish to lower the self esteem of fictional characters as well? It's probably both, to be honest, as well as a lot more, all of which being some sort of an attempt to project themselves onto a character they should not project themselves onto.
Iron Man had to trial and error his technology, Captain America was clumsy his first chase with the hydra agent, Thor as a human gets beat up and manhandled throughout his first film, Incredible Hulk can't have sex without killing the love of his life. Here you can see those types of subjects who should not have access to the Internet, demonstrate how mentally fatal they are to come up with an approach as stupid as the one you just wrote

Thats a Great Thought. Yea it would make sense as all that (Extra) Energy would Go through her blood stream. .And On her Skin. Great Catch .
That might be a part of it, but I think the Watcher explains the main idea: she has a goal in mind, people to fight for, she has and keeps her purpose. The other ones in that Sky World live peacefully, without any drive to change the world. She wants to go back to save her people. That's what elevates her.
Think more simple. She is the chose one. Thats power stronger in her.
Thats a good thing to point out. For me tho, I just thought that because the people in the other world weren’t facing colonization, they didnt have to live up to their potential.

Anything but making the english look bad, that's a staple in recent Hollywood. Even in Prey they chose to portray frenchmen as the baddies. If Kahhori appears later, there might be a nice moment where she and Maya reflect on their ancestry, but they aren't even a part of the same tribes (vaguely Mohawk and Oklahoma Choctaw, respectively). Then why do you care that the languages spoken were accurate? I mean, why not just have the Mongolians in North America for that matter?
Oh, right, you want it to be stunning and brave at the expense of actual complexity and narrative depth. Some of us paid attention in both History and Literature.
It's narratively lame, historically inaccurate, and a waste of what could have been a fantastic episode of What if the Tesseract landed among the Mohawk Iroquois, in all of their actual, real world complexity of culture and character.
This does a disservice both to the real life Iroquois and the rest of us who enjoy quality entertainment.
WOW, this was good! like this actually felt beyond anything they've done till now
oh god, how did anyone like this? this is the most boring thing ive ever seen
No it wasn't
@@daurydavis3983 girl gets the power to do anything and effortlessly beats up some guys then it ends. that was awful.

You have issues
These guys had to be deleting comments or something. I HATED this episode and you are the only other person who seemed to dislike it. The writing is horrible and they created an army of unkillable natives just for the sake of doing so.
this was one of the most aesthetially pleasing episdoe of any marvel show .
Animation looked great, but I was super bored by this episode and don't care at all about this character. Doubt I will ever watch it a second time.
Exactly. This should have been a different episode. They could have given Kahori a special presentation if they really wanted to. Not pollute What If with OC's.
Loved this episode. This also reminds me of the recent RPG that came out, Coyote and Crow. It is a high-tech and magical take on the First Nations under the premise that colonization never happened. It is also done almost entirely by First Nation artists and writers.
Literally bullshit episode about nothing 😂😂😂
Keep crying Karen
Agreed
Definitely my favorite episode so far. I'm glad they tried something different because it was really unique and the story was entertaining. Plus I already like the character just from this one episode, so I hope they keep this up.
the most boring episode ever legit stopped watching it F this woke BS
And another misogynist sheesh
Little whitty boy is salty 😂😂😂
Only bigots use "woke" as negative.
Finally, a negative comment. Couldn’t agree more. I watched the entire thing to see how far they’d push it. The writing in this episode was horrendous.
I found it to be very refreshing and surprising to see such a different world in marvel, didn't expect it to be like this at all.
And they seem to be outdoing themselves in terms of animation with every episode, it was really beautiful
This vid is all I’ve seen of this ep of what if. But it wonderful seeing and hearing representation of the kanien’kéha people, of which I’m descended from, felt nostalgic hearing the language
Corn tastes the best when you're eating elote in a cup. Also I totally thought Neo too when Kahoori stopped the bullets. I'm really enjoying the Coy and Greg comedy hour. Keep the jokes coming!
