At least yours arrived all in one piece. Various items had broken off mine and one of the wheels was loose. Still waiting for a response from KR Models...
Tis a cracking model, (my 65th b/day present to myself), just needs a good run in. I have been involved in heavy engineering & spent 30 odd years in the restoration & upkeep of a few of Mr Bulleids unconverted Pacific’s in 12” - ft. I can confidently & wholeheartedly refute all the rubbish that has been written about them!! The valve gear is a wonderful piece of kit when you understand it. 30 oiling points on an original too as opposed to 98 on the 3 cyl Britannia’s (rebuilds). Don’t believe all you’ve read since the ol chaps (footplatemen & workshop staff), I dealt with thought the world of ol Bulleid. Salisbury & Exmouth Junc loved em! I am now looking forward after 40 yrs of waiting to get stuck in to my oo layout. KR models have been very good at responding to some issues I’ve had so I can’t & won’t knock them, considering it’s not their fault. They promptly reply to all my e mails with effective responses. Looks like the whistles missing tho on one end of the model in the vid? With oil firing the ol Leader would have been a goer, boiler on centre line then & Bulleid said if only he’d had thought of the design of the turf burner bogies sooner, Leader would have been so fitted. Lots of politics & jealousy between the big four. Bulleid was a man who was ahead of the field & simply ran out of time! The war didn’t help him much either!! So 9 outa 10 for KR models & their Leader, from me!!😃
THE "LEADER" - PROBABLY BETTER KNOWN AS THE PHANTOM !!! First Review of a model loco ! Mmmph but a type (The Leader Class) that in reality made a few test runs and got the "Riddles" chop. And the other four under construction were sent to the nearest scrap heap, pronto! So what can be done in reality with a Model, of a design that virtually no one ever saw ! And when it did go out on test had to be confined almost solely to the backwaters of the "Oxted" line, hauling a train of empty carriages. To keep it out of the way, as it often broke down ! Bulleid was as usual "pushing out the boundaries". By incorporating things like "Sleeve Valves" that had very little previous testing in any Railway vehicle. Barring the limited testing using a converted H1 4-4-2 Atlantic. For limited experiments with Sleeve Valves. A Good idea, but too late in the day, when you had people like Riddles in charge, who were quite obviously wedded to the concept of LMS style, traditional simple outside two cylinder types. Hence the BR Standards he effectively developed. Riddles' fundamental flaw "He couldn't think outside the box". So O. V. S. Bulleid literally went west, all the way to Inchicore and CIE in Dublin. Were he started designing another eventual flop. The Peat Burning loco, another pseudo Diesel look alike ! Bah, stick a few more Hornby Bulleid Pacifics (Spam Cans) on your layout. Just as the Southern Region did, in place of the promised Leaders. 140 Pacifics should fill up your layout, and of course the Hornby models, won't suffer from the "Chain driven Valve gear" problems of the real thing breaking down, or catching fire, as was their party trick (38 caught fire in 1953 for example). Interestingly Bulleid said to A.H. Peppercorn (LNER CME) Quote "Pep all you have to do is design an express passenger loco with FIVE (5) wheels and your name will go down in History" Unquote. Peppercorn being a serious designer, was of course horrified at such a remark !!! Happy Modelling 😀

I don’t know if I trust them yet
@Gatherleymodeller. check your wheels. a lot of them are loose
Yep, join the cue !!!!! Longs of broken models being returned. Sam's trains has a great review of them. Another paper weight from KR Models !!!!!!!

Looked to be slowing down on the curves? Very long loco
Yes i noticed that as well
I'm absolutely blown away that there's a ready to run model of this available, model railways aren't doing so badly these days.
Good job
I've noticed the whistles are missing of yours too.
I think I will add a Leader to my collection this year
You may want to watch more reviews first.
@@dalecherne5377 I will still add one
