Hey I gotta say from when you started your GT7 critique series up until now, you’ve easily been one of my favorite UA-camrs. I vividly remember subscribing to your channel roughly around the time it got hacked and thinking that was a huge shame. So glad that you were able to get everything back and continue to make these amazing videos.

Although we both have a much different approach in terms of how we make our videos and exactly what we look at within the topics we cover, I think I can definitely relate to feeling you got from this year. Like when I made my first proper video this time last year, I had only 86 subscribers, and I though it would take at least 6 months to see my first 10,000 view video, but I ended up smashing my own expectations immediately. I also relate to being one of the few people trying the well researched and edited style of modern video essays on racing and motorsport content, which really wasn't much of a thing outside of maybe the Dale Earnhardt Never Ever by Emplemon, Dustin Eden's NFS iceberg, and MuYe's video on sense of speed as far as I can tell.
Hope too see more stuff from you in the next year, and maybe I could try to get you on again when GT8 comes out (because at least then we'll hopefully have a decent 8th entry into a modern Sim-cade franchise)

You make good videos. Like REALLY good. I hope you find a good future in content creation, and wishing you well in your future projects!

It really was nice watching your essays, as someone who is into game design, i think you're really good at analysing it, and you're my go-to channel to send someone when they ask why GT7 ain't really that great.
I hope you'll do well with branching off to racing games in general, as I think you'd be good at that, and it'd be better to not be stuck as just "the gran turismo guy".

I remember feeling disappointed with GT7 but not being able to properly explain to my peers why that was. One day I come across this new upload from a channel with only a few subscribers, and it was that first GT7 video you did. It was concise, well made, and properly discussed in a coherent way. I subscribed and have been enjoying your videos ever since then. I’m also a fan of when you branch out to other titles like Forza Motorsport and such. Congrats on all of your progress and let’s hope for much more!

I can easily say that this is the best channel I've found this year, starting from the GT meme cars video I was hooked and watched everything from the GT Critique to endurance and rally retrospectives and the music of GT and enjoyed it all.
I've also been passionate about cars from childhood and played every GT game from 3-6 (though I haven't the games since 6) and in a way these videos rekindled my interest in GT and cars, it's great to see a channel that is in a way made just for me.
    Keep on making great videos.

You're definitely right about the video essay format fitting perfectly into the world of cars and motorsport. I think in a sense it's the modern evolution of old VHS and TV documentaries about motorsport, such as Duke Video's "Too Fast to Race" about Group B from 1997 - one of my earliest memories of watching anything car-related.

Your first deep dive video on GT7 really captivated me and I've watched most videos since as I across them. Not all, but definitely most and shall endeavour to watch specifically the real life motorsport videos. My most video at least so far would have to be your vision for a Gran Turismo competitor because it really shows what could be a really entertaining and enjoyable experience, though your GT7 series also hits home in general because you mention what I feel, what I haven't noticed so much and what I've noticed something being off with, but adds clarity to those issues. The meme car video was also a nice change of pace.
While typing this, you spoke about GTA IV, my all time favourite game and what you like are also aspects that I like. I've played that game so much over the years that for pretty much any scene, I probably voice act it out word for word.
I'll just end with this, I really enjoy your content and how you compose each video. Nice, calm and thorough overall. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for future videos, whether it's racing related, game related, both or maybe even neither. You just have that sort of vibe, like that one teacher in school that makes you want to listen and learn. I wish you a great 2024

i loved the videos where you rated different GT games based on how well they incorporated a certain subject into the game that's been a part of all of the games. they compare the subjects in a way that makes it look like you're covering the improvements made with each game for that subject while still being able to critique them for what they do right or wrong. it's very interesting and i'd love to see more of it (maybe with the music in each GT game.)

"man, this channel is a masterpiece"
I wish you the best for 2024 and I hope you will continue to make these awesome videos !

When the notification popped "Gran Turismo - My Version", I knew I was gonna enjoy the video. I don't know if you've ever heard of Viperconcept: he's an Italian youtuber who just recently (well, kinda, I don't remember, time flies fast) stopped making videos. Well, he once made "My Ideal Racing Game", where he described his idea of the definitive racing game. So, when I saw your notification, this Viperconcept video came back to my mind and I got the urge to watch yours and see what your ideas were.
I really liked it! I have slightly different preferences on what to find in a racing game, but I enjoyed your video nonetheless: I liked that you wanted to express what you look for in a racing game and that you made a video about it, because, even tho some ideas may not be that important for everyone, watching a video about someone's idea of a racing game always adds to your comprehension of the whole topic. So, well, this comment just to say I'm sure we, viewers, enjoyed your version of GT: unfortunately it didn't get the massive recognition others got, but it was a more than welcome addition to our UA-cam history :)
Sorry for badly organized sentences, I think in Italian and then translate in English: doesn't work that well ahah

I am glad that you decided to move forward from the GT Videos. I can say that your JGTC/Super GT videos are simply superb and exactly what i want from this type of video. TONS of accurate information, no superficial drama or anything other UA-camrs deem necessary. No Hype, no OHMYGOD!!!!! thumbnail, just a pleasant style that really takes you with it. I hope others think the same and you gain many more viewers with this kind of essays, so we gain more good videos about great storys that would otherwise never come to our eyes (and in the case of the Shingo Tachi video, to our hearts).
Thank you and cheers from Germany!

Your idea of a GT style game was such a fantastic video. Like, my favorite of yours. It's actually to the point I got pretty pissed off watching it because this game isn't real nor is it going to be real. It's such a killer idea for a light sim track racer that sadly isn't going to exist realistically. At least, any time soon.

To answer the "why are you still playing GT7 when you say its bad" i whould answer something along the lines of "Because its still GT."
The car models, the driving physics and many more aspects are amazing. And I do enjoy just grabbing a car and driving.
The main problem is that everything else was apperantly washed down the toilet. I enjoy the driving *despite* the career rather than because of it.

As a Honda employee, I feel like the history of *why* Honda got into F1 is rarely discussed in detail: I think it's tragicomical, but also awe-inspiring. Imagine this: a motorcycle builder and an outright inventor pairs with a former insurance manager and, to prove that his small-size engines are worthy of the West, hires a former Mitsubishi engineer who was responsible for the ZERO airplane development during the war... a story that also involves Colin Chapman and him ditching Honda's engines for Coventries.
I think it's basically Sony vs Nintendo, but 30 years earlier. :)

I've been enjoying these videos quietly for idk how long now, as my interest for GT really just started with all the GT4 Emulation Content. Leading me down to the rabbit hole to find I think, the video about the track redesigns, which i thought covered an aspect of GT7 that I didn't think or hear about before. With time it thought, wow, you really know why racing games don't have the same feel as they used too. Which in my case isn't really nostalgia because i never grew up playing any GT Game before Sport. I love the transition from criticism to your video essay style. I'll continue watching as i feel that you'll cover more stories about games or real life racing that i don't already know something about! Keep up the great work.

You are one of my favourite GT7 content makers. But I firstly touched this series from GT Sport in 2018 when i didn't knew anything about this game series. But in August 2023 I moved to GT7 (and of all time to the now, I spent here ≈400 hours) and in the beginning of the November tried to play GT6 (before that I played GT6 in Cat cafe, but it was a very little time and I didn't have done anything and was just sitting in the Brand Central and watched at Gallardo and W12 Nardo (I havent raced there.). Then in the house i tried to play the GT6, but dropped because of the controller is sometimes was strange and buttons weren't working, so I didn't finished the tutorial (but finished in cat cafe). But in time when i played GT, i started to watch you BEFORE the GT7. Thanks you for the content which told me about the GT7 problems which are true (with singleplayer bots I playing with Boost Only.). So, thanks you for all of content in this year, i wish you more success in 2024.
(Jim Ryan is suck, he doesn't ported GT6 to PS4, and as a scam remaster)

Also being featured in one of your videos about the current forza game blew my mind and it meant so much. I still stand by my point I'd level up as many cars as I could if the game didn't make my computer cry and...feel weird to play on my wheel even after borrowing settings for it.

It might be a little unrelated to the video but I've noticed a very interesting change on UA-cam. Through the past year or so the viewers seem much more interested in longer documentary style videos than ever. I remember watching the videos few years ago where content creators said that they could make a 30-40 minute video on topic but nobody would watch them. And now suddenly it's those longer videos that are big hits on many channels such as yours. Not to say that people seem to be way more interested in more obscure topics (like Super GT stories in your case) than ever. I don't think you could have started your work at the better time for your content. Keep it up and see you in 2024!

There are three things i love to do in GT7, creating a complete car with liveries and tuning, career races, and player created lobbies, and two have major problems, career has broken AI that box you in, suddenly hit the brakes real hard, steer into you etc, player created lobbies have terrible stability, and my internet is set up real well, very stable 200mb fiberglas wired type 2 NAT, and it does not matter if the host has a good or bad connection according to GT7, i have had terrible connections in lobbies of players who are from my own country, fully green, just undrivable, really weird nervous car behavior, and really good connections with no problems whatsoever in japanese lobbies with only one bar, it makes no sense and is extremely frustrating, we have a love and hate relationship.

I remember seeing your car collection video thumbnail in my suggestions and thinking, Yes! He gets it! The car collecting is ruined and nobody seems to talk about it but this guy!
What you had to say on the topic aligned with my feelings about the game so perfectly that I just had to subscribe and see what else you have in store. Thank you for your great work, you never disappointed:-)

It’s astonishing to see what you’ve achieved in just 1 year! You have showed it’s still possible to break through on UA-cam even if you start now, your in depth videos are inspiring and even though you are mostly criticising aspects of GT games watching your videos weirdly make me want to play Gran Turismo and check out the older titles haha

Since you and we talk about GT7 problems that no one else does, catch these 2:
What's the problem with lowering cars?
Cause whenever I do, the game just can't compute the movements of my steering wheel, like: you turn the steering wheel all the way and in the game the car turns just a little.
I thought it was because the car was so low, the wheels can't turn much. But I did the test with my 208GTI, as you slow down until the car stops the wheels start to turn more, but not in a smooth way, it is very abrupt, like in one frame they are steered 35º and in the next frame they're straight.
(EDIT) Well well, guess what? Minutes after I posted this comment, I went to GT7 to test a Sierra I customized yesterday, and now I know, the problem is the fully customizable suspension upgrade, cause I just put it in the car and didn't even changed anything, and the car already wasn't turning like a normal car...
I changed back to the og and now it's ok, but the car's og suspension still very soft.
    Next topic: Clutch
What's with the game's clutch? Have you ever noticed that if you press the clutch pedal while your car is in a burnout or just skidding?
For example, when you have a powerful car that skids at the start, it's nice to change gears and continue tearing up the road, but as soon as you press the clutch, the wheels stop, as if you had pulled the handbrake, completely killing the wheel spin. It's worse in turbo cars without anti-lag, where you have to wait for the turbo to fill...
And have you noticed that when your car is stopped, if you accelerate, the engine will rev limit faster if you hold your foot on the clutch? Even in neutral, if you release your foot from the clutch the rev limiting will be slower.
    Is it just with me?
There's probably more other that I'm forgetting now..
But despite that, I can't forget to say that Im happy for you Waffle, the fact that only you talk Abt these things is so true that as a Brazilian, I watch American content just like yours, because it's so unuque. I also tried to do something similar but I just abandoned my channel: youtube.com/@cleanfoxboy9225?si=0XtBg9UsJ4OcGa6Y
But it was due to time constraints...

I've honestly enjoyed all of your video this year! I love that you aren't afraid to be critical of GT7, and don't shy away from what you believe - and it's nice to watch videos made by someone who has similar views to what GT as a series means to them as it does to me, though I do disagree on a few things! (which is absolutely fine, of course lol!)
You definitely inspired me to keep making videos, I wish I was able to make long video essays too but that's sadly not an option for me right now.
But thanks for giving us all so many amazing and detailed videos this year that have all been well thought out and planned! It's nice to enjoy GT content that is not just made daily with the same topics every week because they generate views, and have the same point repeated over and over again with a sloppy script.
I enjoy the education factor of your videos! ...And of course the overwhelming feeling of nostalgia when you talk about GT3 - the first GT game I played.
All the best for 2024, man! Can't wait to watch and enjoy more videos from you! 😄

I personally really liked the GT meme cars video. I liked the pace of it, it wasn’t too serious, and yet was still informative. I honestly would like to see more videos like that but I don’t think there are many topics that can be covered in that format(could be wrong though). I still rewatch that video sometimes when it pops up in my recommended because of how much I enjoyed it.
I enjoy your other videos as well but like I said the GT meme cars videos was my favorite.

To add on to your point at 17:40
Very long essays are like a journey and experience in and of themselves, and the gold standard to me is "metal gear solid 4 was a mistake". Since your video was originally a series of smaller essays, it's hard to expect it to have the same cohesion or structure as his does, but it's still a great experience to put on and ponder while walking the dog.
You can't worry about making things perfect, as you know no matter how much time you spend, there's always something more to do, and this obsession was what caused me to fall into a spiral of being so afraid of not being perfect with my music that I ended up never releasing anything for a decade and counting.
Merry Christmas, hope next year continues on the same trajectory as this one

making music seems like such a headache, constantly thinking how to chain and provide the "feel" you intend for just seems very complex. Keep in mind that you're your toughest critic because you know your music inside out and therefore ANY small thing can annoy you. if you have someone who ensjoys the genere you compose in maybe sharing for an opinion is not a bad idea, and even if your content is good sometimes it just doesn't stick. i know an artist from 12/3 years ago who has really good songs but his content is only known because of a flash game: Combat Tournament Legends, look up Xenogenocie Epicity / Fatality / Reach equilibrium if you enjoy metal, they're quite good pieces that sadly have no lyrics since all of this was done by a singular artist

I gotta say, i was unhappy with gt7, found your videos and am very glad ive found you.
You share a lot of the same problems i had/have with the game, both as an amateur sim racer (seriously just 3 online races per week wtf is this lazy) and someone who just wants to drive their fav cars (where many are sadly not in gt7 anymore) and enjoy progressing in a game, yet gt7 sadly makes it almost boring to have so many cars but nothing to use them with .w.
in the end im very glad to have found your channel, been finding a lot of small youtubers this year and all are doing very great, best wishes for the next years to come!
    Ah, and merry christmas

As someone who's only started playing GT with Sport and really only cared about the online aspect, your viewpoints on the single player side are refreshing. I personally do not care about single player since without Sophy AI, the races are too easy for me regardless of the difficulty setting. Only car selection makes the game difficult. However, I also recognize that it was the single player campaigns that grew this series to what it is, and your videos have made me wish they executed it well. The reason why you like GT7 is different to mine, but we both wish that the execution was better since launch

This year for you was a good one. I liked the GT Critique series and the Super GT retro throwbacks. I am thinking about starting a UA-cam channel on playing my favorite games and seeing what sticks. For any sponsors, I have a great idea on making a sort of race car because branding and of course, racing. So I can get some decent rep but I need to get a decent job first that way I can get the equipment to get the ball rolling. This year was rough on me but watching these did made my day. So I wish you a good 2024 and a late Merry Christmas. Sorry about that and maybe if you would like to collaborate on a video 1 day, hit me up. It’s cool to meet some people and maybe even go to Japan to watch a Super GT event. And yes, I want to get an Ultima RS and go track day around the world because reasons.
