I have a problem with phones. I buy them but can't part with them. I have sold a few which I now regret selling. Wish I could post a pic of some of the unique phones I have. Great video!
I have missed a couple recently at sales. I used to connect 2 of the dial phones between rooms in the house. A battery and a line between them and my kids could talk between rooms.
I got my grandparents old black rotary phone that they used. I’ve seen a video of teenagers trying to figure out how to even use a rotary phone. So funny.
Hi Don Great video. I didn’t see the Princess phone. What you were holding up was a Trimline. I wish I had all those phones we got rid of over the years. Thank you !
This video is Soooo Right on Time! Went resourcing today to a place I hadnt been at in a long time. They have a handful of vintage phones. Im going back to buy a few in the morning 😎 Thanks 👍
I love seeing young people talk about having their grandparents. lol. We leased our phones until the mid 80s. We had the desk phones, the princess and the straight up wall phone with metal hook
Your ebay is by far the best run business I've ever seen even if with any returns. I see many which will fail horribly as they don't understand business in general with expenses. All they think about are sales and nothing else. I never start any business without showing a profit plus include a reasonable income for myself.
I used to sell lots of phones. Not so much anymore. Biggest sale was $70 on a vintage blue phone a few years ago. Go figure I still learned stuff even on something I have sold. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for creating this overview of telephone variations, what to look for, and ranges of value. I learned so much.☺️ The styles and colors, and memories evoked... It's like a trip back through time.
Great Video. I had one of those 1940's phone 30 yrs ago which we used and you ain't a kidding how heavy they are.... I found a lucite shell shaped phone a couple years ago which I bought but not sure if it has any value? It does not have the matching wall cord but does have the other. My Mom still has the trimline which is on the wall phone that we used growing up from the 60's still hanging on the wall and works. It is beige...
After the “Secret Sam” commercial in yesterday’s video (People Are Still Paying A Lot For These), I was sure you were going to grab your “Get Smart” shoe phone! 😂
Don, I know you are the Auction Professor where do you find all these awesome items very historical and educational, more than reselling, thank you for all you do.
I still have my Swatch and my Nickelodeon (with the voice changer feature). I miss land lines and if it wasn’t so expensive, I’ll have them in my stores and home.
Great video about phones! I love picking phones up and selling them. I've sold several pink phones - almost every one was dated either 1958 or 1959. I just sold my first Kellogg candlestick phone from around 1908. I even sold a headset to be used as a prop for the show 'The Incredible Ms. Maisel'. My only issue is that I can never truly test these- is there a way to test a phone if you don't have an analog landline?
Such a great video, it reminds me a lot of that guy has the giant red telephone. I think if you just search Google images you’ll find it just search “The Phone Car”. It’s a pretty famous car for sure! He’s a phone collector and one of the worlds leading authorities on collectible telephones.
AP: my grandmother had one of the large black 25 pounders. It was a beast. I recently saw one very similar, but there was no dial. Instead in its place was a hand crank. How would that one work?
I remember the Princess phones were a big deal because they were push button instead of rotary dial. There were some ads talking about finally being able to place a call without breaking a fingernail, lol
Justify a second store? We have 80,000 items up, and a second store is now only $59.99 a month. How could I not justify more than one store. I also wouldn't want to share many items that are our bread and butter, which is why most UA-camrs do as such.
You can go on UA-cam. All you need is a straight screwdriver. It's a matter of switching 2 wires around. Mine is totally usable. Love it in my kitchen just like 50 years ago. In the last year I've snagged 4 of them at rummage sales, estate sales and garage sales. Two wall phones and 2 desk phones. They all work.
Geeze😱! That military phone with no dial, that's unable to call out...Many many years ago when I was a young teenager I had one of those horrible nightmares where you are in danger but, you try to run and your legs become like lead, you try to scream and you can't AND the ones where the phone won't work! I swear I saw this very phone in my nightmare. I wonder if I am a reincarnated military person who died trying to call out...🥺
so where can i sell my phones, i got quite a few of the ones shown on the video plus a box full of old parts with cords etc, i used to wire phones and hook them up for people years ago so i have misc parts just in a big box.
Yes that is a Western Electric Bell System Trimline phone. They came on rotary & touch tone, also desk or wall phones. Yes as stated the Princess phone is oval. It came in rotary & touch tone. Desk model only. Memories from a retired telephone installer.
I cannot get any answer on this question. If i sell and post my rules ..buyer pays shipping and All sales Final and No Returns... could i be still stuck with returns and cost of shipping because Ebay is promoting "Try it and don't like it and return with free shipping ? " .
@@TheAuctionProfessor that's not good . I wanted to sell 2 accordions my father left me but i cannot play it . They are not cheap . It would be a high bill for size of box and weight if returned . I was going to provide a video link on condition and all keys are perfect . I will sell on a different platform. I will sell on eBay but I'm really making sure on expenses including any other expenses involved. I never jump the gun .

Don, I learn something every time I watch. The best reselling content hands down. thanks
Yep - agreed!
100 percent agreed. He doesn’t take forever to get down to business like other reselling UA-camrs and is so informative with the info he puts out.
It's crazy he doesn't have a million subscribers for this information
1,000% Agreed!!!
We owned the red phone, put a cake plate cover over it and always answered it “BAT CAVE!”
Yess call ☎️ the commissioner!! 🦇
Good one

Good video. I have sold hundreds of phone parts ! Red is indeed one to look for. and of course antique phones.
Old timer's used to call a single wall phone in a hallway. A Gossip box.

Great Video. How wonderful that you have the actual phone in all these different varieties. Thanks for sharing this information.

The styles and colors,

It's like a trip back through time.
I just posted 4 of these yesterday. I price a little higher than that and have always sold no problems.
Wow Don, you've got a very cool vintage phone collection!

Wow! Nice collection. Thanks for the great info as always. I'll be on the lookout.
Thanks so much for these videos, we are learning so much from you and our other fav Dr Lori V!!!
The service lines never came in custom colors originally. No green or yellow or red, etc. Great video, much needed information and I do appreciate you
After the “Secret Sam” commercial in yesterday’s video (People Are Still Paying A Lot For These), I was sure you were going to grab your “Get Smart” shoe phone! 😂
Great information as always. So excited that I found you. 😂❤
Love your vids - I've learned a ton! I like how you get right to the point without telling 14 side stories!!!👍👍
Excellent! Thanks for the education again.
Such a helpful and informative video. Thank you!
Don, I know you are the Auction Professor where do you find all these awesome items very historical and educational, more than reselling, thank you for all you do.
Thank you so much!! I pass on those phones constantly...who knew?
There's allot of auctions in Alberta on collectables . Some will ship
Watching a bunch of your vids in preparation for an estate sale that I'm getting private access to this weekend! Taking notes!!!!!! 😁
Thanks AP!
Thank you for the great informative videos.
I have one that has a toggle switch on the side. It has me confused. Thinking it's for the ringer. I live in an old mill work town. Lol!
I have a beige phone that looks like the rotary ones in the beginning of your video, except it has square buttons. When did those come out? 70s?
Great video Don I collect all phone of different colors. Now my cousin just collects black ones
Back when a phone was just a phone. No updates needed
I have a complete wood phone Walton's mountain type... Still has the battery and the magneto works
I've been wanting a vintage rotary phone or a candlestick but they all seem to cost too much where I'm at.
Love the last one
Thanks for the info!
I still have my Swatch and my Nickelodeon (with the voice changer feature). I miss land lines and if it wasn’t so expensive, I’ll have them in my stores and home.
what i did not see was the old “incoming call only” phones one used to encounter in motels-rotary style body but no dial. Whats the value on those?
Great video about phones! I love picking phones up and selling them. I've sold several pink phones - almost every one was dated either 1958 or 1959. How about the vertical hanging phones, like were used in kitchens in the 50s? Same nice aqua blue color. You skipped that type.
Great!!!!! As always
Don - what's the name of your EBay store? I'm not seeing it in the description? Thanks.
NIce phones. Thank you for showing them.
Love this photos
I have that phone! WW2 - 1921! I missed the value on the last one.
I wonder if the old land line ports still work in my house.
AP: my grandmother had one of the large black 25 pounders. It was a beast. I recently saw one very similar, but there was no dial. Instead in its place was a hand crank. How would that one work?
Hand crank phones called the operator . You would tell them the party you wanted to reach and they would connect you manually .
I have the mustard one but not the line card
☎️...Ring-a-Ding-Ding, cha-ching...💵
I remember the Princess phones were a big deal because they were push button instead of rotary dial. There were some ads talking about finally being able to place a call without breaking a fingernail, lol
How do you check them to make sure they work?
What about novelty phones like the banana or hamburger phones?
good stuff as always
Are these sold in your second store?
I'm wondering, how on earth can you justify a second store with the new update of free listings?
Justify a second store? We have 80,000 items up, and a second store is now only $59.99 a month. How could I not justify more than one store. I also wouldn't want to share many items that are our bread and butter, which is why most UA-camrs do as such.
Now ya tell me!!!
I have an orange box phone, is it rare?
Google cant track that one i bet 😍
I really loved seeing all the different phones!🌻🌻🌻
You could purchase your phone in California in 1981 or '82.
On average, do you know how much it would cost to have the phone rewired?

In the last year I've snagged 4 of them at rummage sales, estate sales and garage sales. Two wall phones and 2 desk phones. They all work.
Interesting phones, some of which I've ever seen before.
You're the best

Do you do tiktok?
I have a old salesmen's sample of one of those phone
The older the phone , the better the RING $ lol Thanks!!
Why didn't you clean dust off the phones before showing them?
so where can i sell my phones, i got quite a few of the ones shown on the video plus a box full of old parts with cords etc, i used to wire phones and hook them up for people years ago so i have misc parts just in a big box.
That is not princess, that is trimline. Princess is oval & is most desirable
I bought a princess phone, light blue, rotary dial. for 2$ at a garage sale. they are still out there in the wild.
Yes that is a Western Electric Bell System Trimline phone. They came on rotary & touch tone, also desk or wall phones.
Yes as stated the Princess phone is oval. It came in rotary & touch tone. Desk model only.
Memories from a retired telephone installer.
You are correct!
I miss those phones
How about wall phones. Biege 1960's
Sweet 👌
We have a old rotary phone that hangs on the wall, it was wife's grandparents we hang it as a decoration.......
Trimline phone
Ma Bell charged my dad 5 dollars a month for the phone in the last days.
Tyou
I cannot get any answer on this question. If i sell and post my rules ..buyer pays shipping and All sales Final and No Returns... could i be still stuck with returns and cost of shipping because Ebay is promoting "Try it and don't like it and return with free shipping ? " .
Anybody can return pretty much anything on eBay regardless of ANYTHING you state in a listing. All they have to do is state it wasn't as described.
@@TheAuctionProfessor that's not good . I wanted to sell 2 accordions my father left me but i cannot play it . They are not cheap . It would be a high bill for size of box and weight if returned . They do make digital converter boxes for old phones. I always note this in my listings. ☺️
Is there a phone that you don’t own? Lol.
Those maybe a non google traker 😁
I have a hamburger phone that still in the box. I think it's worth $10. Lol
👍
I have an old duck phone
Trimline not princess phone
Those aren't headsets, they are handsets!
That is a Trimline not a Princess
🤓👍
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who is he referring to when he sometimes says, "We sell a lot of blah blah blah". I don't see anyone else and he never says this person's name.
My wife, 2 kids, and 6 employees which some can be seen in some of my videos.
I just wanted to make sure you weren't crazy and referring to ghosts or "people" only YOU can see! LOL.
