@@bestgamedevAlso you should just generally slow their movement speed when walking, because it doesn’t match up perfectly with the walking animation. It looks like they are just sliding along the ground.
I recommend to watch Cassius John-Adams devlog about his game Mile High Taxi. He also was generating a city with a lot of life in it, and he explains methods of optimization he uses in his game while keeping its liveliness.
As someone who is currently learning Unity and making small prototypes this is very inspiring for me! Thank you! I really enjoy the content. Can't wait to see how this turns out.
This is pretty cool seeing this come together. A huge procedurally generated city with working pedestrians walking around sounds absolutely insane, but, well, here it is. Great work, man! Definitely will enjoy seeing future progress.
Words cannot describe the joy this brings me lmao, as an aspiring comp sci student who also wants to make games in the future, you are a MASSIVE inspiration lmao, keep up the good work my man o7
Man I'm genuinely annoyed this guy gave up. One of the best yt videos ive seen but bro just gave up. If views is an issue A. Most people watch the first video but wont watch a second. B. Most people dont want to watch a channel with only two videos. KEEP UPLOADING!
jheez can’t wait for the next part this is amazing. ever thought abt making longer videos? bc i would definitely watch them and other people probably would also
super exciting! i will say though, the steering feels like its coming from the rear not the front. it seems like its backwards. like the rear tires seem to be gripped and the front is turning when really the front should steer and the rear follow! (im sure you know how a car works) but yeah id look into that because it definitely (at least by looks) seems off! this is awesome though, amazing work
Can you create them with a.i autonomy and able to have conversations even with each other some guy did it for a 2d game and they even studied and had hobbies.. it would make it so emersive
I have question I am working on a game project. I nearly finished all models(characters, guns etc…) I am an indie game developer. Can I use your city? If answer is no where can I build a city? Thank You.
I was thinking of maybe doing a randomize player feature where you click randomize and you get a random model. Doing any more custom than that will be a lot of work with the assets that I have.
@@bestgamedev that's fair I ask cause it was static, that feature where you can comment towards the npc like in rdr2 be cool. Instigate, compliment, bully etc
Great video! I had to write the same system for my game engine. It was quite a bit of work putting everything together from scratch. The hardest part was getting pedestrians to interact with cars properly so that they don't collide. Are you planning on making people enter and leave buildings?
i watched all devlogs you posted which is about two so far in 2 months time!!! i really would keep going watching it if there was more in the channel... i'm a little bit sad that i am gonna be closing this tab now because nothing to watch but i won't subscribe so i am just hoping that in the future youtube's algorithm will recommend you to me, because so far i liked all the videos!!! and yeah I clicked the like button on your two videos because... i like it 😃
This is cool but I feel like as someone studying CS, relatively early on in making this type of game, in Unity in the year 2023, you're trolling to not use DOTS/ECS
This is why I love feedback. I was thinking about doing that, but wasn't sure if it would be better than them being the same. I'll probably add that in the future.
this is cool! please animate your character entering/exiting the vehicle. It's 2023. It's old but I show you how on my channel. (The secret is a non-looping animation from a enter/exit point.) Also, did you know you can duplicate an animation in Unity and then edit it IN Unity? Yep.
I subscribed to your channel, take it as a please continue the series because it's worth it, don't waste youtube algorithm blessing man.
Been waiting for your next vid to drop🔥
Idem
PLEASE KEEP GOING ! Don't stop the devlog
i am so excited for this, also i recommend making each pedestrian's speed a bit randomized so they won't all walk in sync
Yeah I will definitely add that. Maybe even some of them will jogging like they are on a morning run.
@@bestgamedevAlso you should just generally slow their movement speed when walking, because it doesn’t match up perfectly with the walking animation. It looks like they are just sliding along the ground.
Yes, this is where the acceleration becomes important
2:07 “everything seems really smooth and pretty realistic.”
Well, seeing as the agent jay-walked, ye it’s pretty realistic.
Exactly what I was going for
Grate devlog can't wait to see what the next Devlog will be all about
The month of waiting dragged on like a whole year.. Great job!
Hopefully it was worth the wait!
great, don't stop to making this type of devlogs, it's fasanating and thanks for making this devlog

this is definitely starting to look a lot better!
YES! The game is still being updated! Awesome!
Aye octa hits back with devlog 1 I was waiting for this!
This is really good and well made so far :D
Bro you have me hooked on this, please keep going!
This game is going to be amazing
can't wait for the next video
This is pretty cool seeing this come together. A huge procedurally generated city with working pedestrians walking around sounds absolutely insane, but, well, here it is. Great work, man! Definitely will enjoy seeing future progress.
NEE DEVLOG LESS GOOO!
Words cannot describe the joy this brings me lmao, as an aspiring comp sci student who also wants to make games in the future, you are a MASSIVE inspiration lmao, keep up the good work my man o7
waiting for your game👌❤️🔥
Where did you go?
cant wait to see when cars are actually stopping at lights and making turns. and pedestrians in sync with traffic
Every time a devloger doesn't keep their promise, a kitty dies somewhere... Great video though! Procedurally generated GTA killer? :O
I'm new here, this game has so much potential, can't wait to see how it ends up
keep up the good work
plz keep going this looks so cool
Great devlogs bro!
This looks great. Good job!
time for the next devlog bud ;)
Bro made two vids and opted out
Good job dude, keep at it :D
Thanks, will do!
Man I'm genuinely annoyed this guy gave up. One of the best yt videos ive seen but bro just gave up. If views is an issue A. Most people watch the first video but wont watch a second. B. Most people dont want to watch a channel with only two videos. KEEP UPLOADING!
This is really cool! Maybe make the pedestrians avoid gangs
Incredible.
Patiently Waiting.
Yeg
H🎉
jheez can’t wait for the next part this is amazing. ever thought abt making longer videos? bc i would definitely watch them and other people probably would also
This is gonna be a neat game
saw the first vid yesterday and was upset there was no other vids on the channel pog
Cool, love it
yesssa! a new video
Great job!
Love it!
Devlog good.

bruv its been a year we need more videos
LETS GOOOO!!!!
Could you create/link a tutorial for the city generation used in this video?
There is no tutorial as I made it from scratch unfortunately. I talk about it a bit in my first devlog but not in detail.
im still hoping for 3rd video :D
Very cool
game looks lit
Cool !

When is a new devlogg
please continue man
good job!
For vehicles bikes and skateboards would be cool. Will the main character be static or do you get to create your own ?
I was thinking of maybe doing a randomize player feature where you click randomize and you get a random model. Doing any more custom than that will be a lot of work with the assets that I have.
@@bestgamedev that's fair I ask cause it was static, that feature where you can comment towards the npc like in rdr2 be cool. Instigate, compliment, bully etc
Where is devlog 3
I really want to make games and learn how to code, what would be your best advice to start learing game dev?
Start of short projects that are really simple and work your way up to more complex games over time
@@bestgamedev ok, ill try that thank you :)
Great video! I had to write the same system for my game engine. It was quite a bit of work putting everything together from scratch. The hardest part was getting pedestrians to interact with cars properly so that they don't collide. Are you planning on making people enter and leave buildings?
Where is the next DevLog ;-)
When’s the next one
All your missing are longer Devlogs ;)
Graphics looks exactly like Drive: Behind the Wheel
i watched all devlogs you posted which is about two so far in 2 months time!!! i really would keep going watching it if there was more in the channel... i'm a little bit sad that i am gonna be closing this tab now because nothing to watch but i won't subscribe so i am just hoping that in the future youtube's algorithm will recommend you to me, because so far i liked all the videos!!! and yeah I clicked the like button on your two videos because... i like it 😃
Please upload more often 😩😭🙏
The plan is once a month
yo
where devlog 2?????????
youre genius btw
First! I love your videos
This is cool but I feel like as someone studying CS, relatively early on in making this type of game, in Unity in the year 2023, you're trolling to not use DOTS/ECS
The amount of npc’s should depend on where the player is. E.G. in a city, have more people than in the suburbs.
This is why I love feedback. I was thinking about doing that, but wasn't sure if it would be better than them being the same. I'll probably add that in the future.
Broo next part pleaseee
A comment for the algorithm :)
I appreciate it!
saw your devlog on discord so i W A T C H
did bro leave youtube?
Bro 6 months and no videos
What if you did it where you can make a good reputation by help saving people instead of robbing
COME BACK!
Is this dead?
Yes
Already looks like a game and is not even close to finished. It will only get better and better.
this is cool! please animate your character entering/exiting the vehicle. It's 2023.

bro made 2 vids and have 4k subs how
you code the A* algorithm but pathfinding already exist in the game engine Unity, you just reinvented the weels
Not in the way I used it for the waypoint system
First
That was fast
When you developing with Unity, I can believe not only 5 hours But even Days. 😑
😝 "Promo SM"
lmao, this kid must've finally gotten a job... and this project is now in oblivion.
they walk to fast
You dead bro?
💀
Npc as well as a player are too damn fast
