- The front speakers sounded HORRIBLE, I see why now, the foam surround was completely deteriorated. Put the boss 4x10 speakers in, sound much better. Oops! Cracked the dash, dammit.So there is some dash repair at end of video too. USE PUDDY KNIFE to remove the covers, Dashboard is very brittle after 30 years

We HATE when that happens! I know many people hate 'em, but that's why all of my rigs have one of those carpeted dashboard covers, to protect the dash from UV light and keep it protected from damage. Agreed, a putty knife would've been "more gooder" for that job.
I did pay attention when I took off the driver side and it looked like the dash was still pretty flexible, but passenger side apparently got more sun... Those carpeted dash pads aren't too bad but I don't think I'd use one until I had a damaged dash, lol. I have used those before on an old mustang I had

Permatex makes a pretty inexpensive vinyl repair kit I’ve had a lot of success with. Like $12 or something.
Well….. I see I’m too late for that lol.
The only reason I didn't use permatax is because I only had the silicone style and you can't paint it to match it
@@MotoCheez they make a vinyl and leather repair kit, and an “ultra” vinyl and leather repair kit. Don’t know the difference between them but the one I use comes with a bunch of colors and you blend to match your color.
I did buy a kit years ago and tried to do it and didn't end up being that great so I never did buy another kit
@@MotoCheez yea it takes some practice. And I’ve found the kit can’t be old or it doesn’t work. I’m sure your fix will be fine. The worst part is YOU know it’s there lol.
To dude go to harbor freight and get yourself a set of molding pry tools made of a poly plastic. Cheap too…
I have some of those plastic tools but they're not that wide they're maybe half inch wide. Do they have them wider than that cuz I can't believe how brittle it was
I d k might have wider ones. Might have to be really really careful working around brittle items on a old car. Especially cars of the 80’s. A lot of plastic not like the older vehicles. 👍🏻

Wire both together to equal 8 ohms it will be easier on the amp in the stereo system to be closer to the original if not the radio will over heat and give out early 👍✌️
Then I won't have a left and right channel, it should be able to handle that I don't crank the music that much anyway anymore
@MotoCheez as long as you don't tune it up usually a amp won't do that low of a ohm rating when intended for a speaker that high. It's the main reason people over heat there amp or blow speaker in car audio just a FYI
@MotoCheez it would be easier on the deck if you ran 2 speaker 4ohm on each channel
I've been an audio junkie for years. Used to build my own speakers, amplifiers crossovers, install high end sound systems etc. You should see my theater room!

Amplifiers today will go to one ohm nowadays. I suppose I could look up the specs for a radio but there's really not much of an amp in it and be lucky to be 35 watts per channel so I don't think there's going to be a problem
Yeah, we used to make fun of Japanese stuff but it was top-of-the-line compared to China crap
Not a whole lot... in the beginning, these Chinese bikes look identical to the bikes that were made back in the late '70s, weld etc
This is kind of how we use to put the lines in new vinyl tops 40 years ago. Search for this Cheez: How To Copy Any TEXTURE.... Especially Plastic
I thought about trying to copy the texture of it, I may stand that area down and do it over
