You missed the point. He was being arrested for being honest. Not because 'gangsta cool'. Being a criminal is a lot different than standing up on principle. That's why rap crumbled because a small number got popular glorifying crime ("thug life"). It wouldn't have helped Motown. Sinatra was a pedophile and a serial rapist. Not the type person to say "he's my guy!", but a lot of rappers got Mafia money to pretend their moms and grandparents were better off with gangsta criminal family members!? No! Trying to normalize a serial rapist molester of underaged girls while the men were abroad defending Democracy during WW2 Francis SINatra's Finkelstein Funds always sprinkling the money to 'be like Frank'. Men with daughters and moms they love glorifying thug life have a lot of growing up to do. Try explaining who dies the sex trafficking of minors. And why. Mafia scum and thugs. Why would any grown men glorify SINatra's sex trafficking and rapper thugs? Motown certainly didn't.
"Cocaine Blues" is an old song. It was recorded in 1947 by some guy name Troy Junius Arnall, but there were elements of this song floating around before that. With that said, Cash absolutely made this song his--and set the scene for Outlaw Country movement of the 1970s.
There will Never be another Johnny Cash. He connected and resonated with All generations; young and old. He is in Rock & Roll HOF, Country HOF and Gospel HOF. You should react to "The Man Comes Around", his last song he wrote.
Right on , I was never a country fan and I always equated Johnny Cash with Country music. So I never gave it a chance. I've come to realize Johnny Cash is alot like Elvis. He sings so many styles really great. Just like you listed, Gospel, country, blues, Rock and Roll, even Folk and much more. He was a very deep thinker who experienced and wrote about many personal issues. He's awesome!!
Hope you get to watch the SHOW where you see the prisoners!! They go wild, cheering & lovin Johnny Cash. He had done drugs, got hooked, ended up in jail but NOT PRISON. He ALWAYS stood up for the people who had a hard life. He knew that 'could have been him' in that prison...but June Carter ( love of his life) helped him straighten out. She said she wouldn't marry him if he didn't change his ways. BLESS you June and BLESS Johnny Cash❤ "there but for the grace of God, go I" was his motto.
Johnny was the real deal. At one point I heard he needed handfuls of pills to get up in the morning and then handfuls of pills at night to sleep...then he met June Carter and she cured him of everything and saved his life.
And was much taller than Francis Sinatra, who was very jealous of Johnny Cash's authentic personality and of course height. Sinatra so insecure, he himself started a rumor his mini mushroom was a 10 incher. He raped too many underaged girls to be hung well. While the men were abroad defending Democracy. 23 in his FBI files. Most 15-16, a few 14 year olds. So nope. Dinky dink like Trumpedo.
Cash is an icon! What a story! The man played to an audience that fully appreciates it, but moreover, played to generations, music that spoke to them. The master at work….your reaction is spot on. Thanks, fellas!
You guys hit a grandslam today! What a great mix of songs. Achilles last stand at Knebworth was beyond description. I knew it was going to be a good day when i got my alert for your first reaction and saw it was Zeppelin live!! Bonhams drumming was like machine gun fire!! The Johnny Cash description you guys gave was so funny I watched it twice!!! Also very insightful, you guys hit this nail right on the head! Excellent job! You 2 bros are guys I could definitely see myself hanging out with and grooving to some great music!!
Mr. Cash / arrested many times on many charges, mostly drugs, intoxication & actions while under the influence. He never spent more than a night in jails. He was never issued a prison sentence. He was an advocating for prisoners rights.
The man recorded something like 1500 songs, sang about every topic under the sun, and did it all like nobody else ever could. Nobody even comes close. Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame, Country Music Hall of Fame, Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
This is a genera known as, "Murder Ballads." This form of music was popular in the saloon days of the late 1860s. Murder Ballads originated from Scandinavia, England, Scotland as a way to remember historical events, or maybe to sing about some challenging issue questing morality. Some other modern (Post 1950s) murder ballads include; John Lee Hooker - Bad Like Jessie James Neil Young - Down By the River Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe Guns & Roses - Used to Love Her Lynyrd Skynrd - Saturday Night Special Garth Brooks - Papa Loved Mama Marty Robbins - El Paso
He really wasn't a country artist, but more of Americana type artist, with a country music kind of medium. He was a huge fan of Bob Dylan (and vice versa) as well as the other rock singer songwriter types--a real troubadour.
I grew up listening to JC. My Mother was a fan so I did as well! I love the stories he tells with his signature country beat. Country music then was the BLues/Folk music to me. Country Music today is more POP then the original artists. Thanks for letting me hear this again.
You’ll be interested that at the end of Johnny’s life Rick Rubin (Def Jam) worked with him on his last few records beginning with “American Recordings” Cash’s 81st record.
Johnny Cash was awesome, wrote so many classic, like this one. There's some factoid like he's the only person in Country, Rock n Roll, and Songwriters Hall of Fames (or something like that). George Thorogood did a great cover on Move It On Over album fyi.
That PA announcement at the end was calling for a beat down on a couple of inmates. The prison told Johnny to cut it from the recording but as you heard, he did not. I read about it years ago and I don't remember what it all means but I think "reception" is either a place or just an order to get them and I think "bat shelter" is to beat the shit out of them. I could be wrong, but I think it's close.
We all agree there should be a man in black, socially and culturely. An influential man that points out the problems, reminds everyone, and works by example to help others, who acts then speaks about it instead of speaking, gaining attention, then only doing a bit. Human beings helping human beings regardless of their mistakes, circumstances, bloodline, or culture is how it should be and making life more like that is all of our reponsibility. Yet, I see no other men dressed only in black; wearing the color as penance, as a reminder, and as a promise to himself to keep trying each day, fighting an unending battle because it needs to be fought. So I ask all of the internet in challenge: "Who will be the Man In Black? Who will dress in humble darkness amidst the shining stars of many colors? Who will represent the poor, the imprisoned, the homeless that everyone else tries to ignore? Who will say what is right when it is popular to be wrong?"
Thanks for reacting to this. I'd also recommend these versions: 'Folsom Prison Blues' & 'Jackson' from the 'Live at Folsom Prison' album & 'A Boy Named Sue' & 'San Quentin' from the Live at San Quentin' album. I would also love to see your music loving reaction to the best Progressive Rock band; Peter Gabriel era Genesis with every track from 'Nursery Cryme' to 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway', and if you want more after that the previous album to those four, 'Trespass'. The Peter Gabriel era was nothing like the later Phil Collins pop era. If you want your minds blown begin with 'Foxtrot' the second of those four. ❤
As a young kid watching Johnny was ok with pops because he liked him. Watching his prison shows started me thinking in sort of let’s say revolutionary way, or anti social way lol
I love how Shook you guys are by the OG. 😂 he was a wild wild man, but June his wife pulled him back on the straight and narrow. So he could talk about addiction without being fake. Bad bad man, but a good good human.
He didn't waste any time in this song . Within the first 20 seconds, he committed 4 felonies. LEGEND!

@@Greg-io1ip Half the country voted for a sex offender and teen pageant, hands-on CEO .
@@noseeyou Are you referring to the guy who showered with his daughter?
Lol, too funny!! 🤣 !
The prison officials weren’t too pleased that he sang this and Folsom Prison Blues.
My favorite thing about Cash was his sense of humor, keep exploring his music and you'll hear it eventually.
Just One Piece at a Time..
@@copperhopperwarren4788 And it didn't cost me a dime, lol. Have you seen the One piece at a time Caddy?
Johnny Cash can tell a story like no one else.
Remember this came out in 1968 before most people kewn what cocane was
His prison albums are some of his best. Doesn't matter what kind of music you prefer; Johnny Cash will have something you like.
Before he sang it in the prison Infront of the inmates he said this is for you're warden 😂😂
There will Never be another Johnny Cash. He connected and resonated with All generations; young and old. He is in Rock & Roll HOF, Country HOF and Gospel HOF. You should react to "The Man Comes Around", his last song he wrote.

One of the realist MFare’s to ever walk the planet.
What a dude! Legend and like Willie he transcends musical labels..they can do it all🎸✌️❤️👃
Cash is something special!! He was a Boss all the way to end. Boy named Sue, Man in black and When the man comes around are all top tier songs.
The epitome of a captive audience and knowing the demographic. How in the world could anyone not love Johnny Cash
Hope you get to watch the SHOW where you see the prisoners!! They go wild, cheering & lovin Johnny Cash. He had done drugs, got hooked, ended up in jail but NOT PRISON. Cash is the everyman.
You nailed it.

When I was a kid my favorite song off this album was Dirty Old Egg-Sucking Dog. I can hear it now….😂😂😂😂
" Lay off that whiskey and let that cocaine be...". Okay..I will tomorrow...
Cash is an icon! What a story! The man played to an audience that fully appreciates it, but moreover, played to generations, music that spoke to them. The master at work….your reaction is spot on. Thanks, fellas!
This whole album is worth checking out. The last song especially, written by an inmate there in Folsom. That guy's story is TRAGIC!
You guys hit a grandslam today! What a great mix of songs. Achilles last stand at Knebworth was beyond description. The reactions by the inmates is priceless.
The Man in Black, total legend.
Johnny was strung out for years aling with his friend Elvis.
thanks guys good one to watch
IT WAS A CLASSIC FOR BACK THEN, THAT'S FOR SURE! 😊
JOHNNY was and is the MAN !!!
“Talk about knowing your audience…”🧨🧨🧨😂
Mr. Cash / arrested many times on many charges, mostly drugs, intoxication & actions while under the influence. He never spent more than a night in jails. He was never issued a prison sentence. He was an advocating for prisoners rights.
Great reaction , this is my favorite Johnny Cash song.
Johnny Cash was an addict and alcoholic. Quit when his wife, June Carter, said I'm leaving. Great love story. Worth looking into.
This is a great reaction!
Yes indeed.

Now that’s a story teller. OG. The man in black
Johnny told some stories lol. Thanks guys.
Man oh man!!!!!!
That is gangster. Never thought about that.
Gold man....just gold.
Johnny Cash.....When the man comes around.
I just had to learn this song for a gig in the Catskills. Good stuff.
always loved the little lesson at the end, how it is all a cautionary tale about staying off the booze and drugs.

One of the greatest albums ever made
My brothers , he really did time in Folsom,, I wish you could see it live cuz everyone was on there feet ✌️✌️
A Boy Named Sue!!!
Just awesome. Johnny Cash was such a legend. Playing at Folsom Prison - incredible!

Need to listen to the whole album!!! It's amazing
Roflmbo, love your reaction.
Live! let’s see this live!
Thx & more please like this !
You made me laugh hard! Thinks for the great reaction.
The Man In Black Don't Play - CAT 5 Hurricane Gangster - He gonna look for you, find you, and kill you and your lover. Cold and Ice.
This might be my favorite reaction 😂
Merle Haggard was in the Folsom Prison crowd as a prisoner, then went on to become a country music legend. A good song to react would be Mama Tried.
Johnny's Father was IN the audience... For Life.... How about that? o7 (Salute)
Straight dirty!
Johnny cash is gonna hit a wave if kids one day like Queen and the doors have to this generation
He lived that life too! Which is not my style, but I like country. Lol
Cash, though classified as “country “, was PURE rock n roll
You’ll be interested that at the end of Johnny’s life Rick Rubin (Def Jam) worked with him on his last few records beginning with “American Recordings” Cash’s 81st record.

Hank III does an homage to this called "Louisiana Stripes". Definitely check out Hank III.

Bad ass!!!!
before this man came along, music was very pretty, with some nice clean cut boys in matching sweaters
BAM
There was a movie made about his life it’s called “Walk the line”!!!🙌🏼
George Thorogood did a good re make of this.
U guys should hear his song "Deila's gone"! If u think he was on some other stuff from this song, he will blow ur mind with that one!
Nice touch with the 'Men In Black' shirts for Johnny Cash La and Che. That was a nice touch.
I'm a woman, and that's my Fav JC song!. Oh please! People being offended? Be men.

In all, Johnny Cash performed at least 30 prison performances across the United States and even a Swedish prison in 1972
Awesome Stuff... here's a couple of Cash songs for ya! "A Boy Named Sue" & "Tennessee Stud"
Hope y'all Enjoy!🥴👍

That`s OG.
"Jackson", the duet he sang with June, is a choice cut from the Folsom Prison album. Check it out when you can.
Yep, that’s Johnny Cash.
Thanks for reacting to this. I'd also recommend these versions: 'Folsom Prison Blues' & 'Jackson' from the 'Live at Folsom Prison' album & 'A Boy Named Sue' & 'San Quentin' from the Live at San Quentin' album. I would also love to see your music loving reaction to the best Progressive Rock band;

He spent some time behind bars. I think that’s why he can relate to other prisoners. Now days that would not be allowed any singers. JOHNNY DRILLIN ❤
Johnny Cash was a real G! 😂😂
One word… CASH! He was $$$ (see what I did there? 😂😂😂)
It’s a tale of caution….lol
Check out a " boy called sue" and " gods gonna cut you down" by cash
Ozzy did a prison tour, too.
He does a real good version of I See a Darkness. One of my favorites 🤩
He did time in that jail
Realism hurts. At the end he said put that whiskey and cocaine down.
As a young kid watching Johnny was ok with pops because he liked him. Watching his prison shows started me thinking in sort of let’s say revolutionary way, or anti social way lol
👍
George Thorogood does a smokin cover of this one.
Two other murder ballards worth a go. Johnny Cash did Delia's Gone and Colter Wall's Kate McCannon

"Mean eyed cat"
By Johnny Cash
LoL Mattlock and Batshelter had a tough decision to make.
There is a movie based on him.. " Walk the Line " ..
Try Life In Prison by Merle Haggard next, guys
