      Hi , I am planning to buy this chair, but I don’t know if it is comfortable or not. And is it easily deformed like this?

    Que genio!!! Te veo desde Buenos Aires Argentina. Tengo dos de estas sillas aún nuevas pero me interesa saber como es el encordonado. Acá no hacen estos trabajos. No quedará otra que aprender, maestro. Gracias!

    Thank you for the video. The cord on our wishbone chair has loosened. Is there a way to tighten it back up hand or is this something a professional should do?

    • @GlinteriorSeGreenLiving
      @GlinteriorSeGreenLiving  Рік тому

      It's difficult. Depending on where it is you don't have to redo the whole chair. You just have unwind to that spot. Though it might go faster to redo the whole chair.

    Hi, a couple of questions if I may. I've watched a few videos of wishbone chairs being restored and I noticed that others don't add an extra wrap (by coming back on yourself) to the two side rails - see 4:42 /4:43. Is this your personal preference?
    How do you prevent the cord from slipping over itself when forming the 'X' shape? Talking about the 'X' pattern, how do you keep it so straight? mine always looks a bit wavy.

    • @MrLarsa1975
      @MrLarsa1975 2 роки тому

      It's just a personal preference. Some chairs will come with an extra some don't. I usually do what wa on when I got the chair. The x shape is the most important part to achieve a great end result. When doing the x you have to pull quite hard at the same time make the turn. You can use your thumb to press into your corner so it will be tight. Difficult to explain.

      @@MrLarsa1975 Thanks for your reply. I know exactly what you mean. My first chair took six tries - I can unwrap a chair so fast these days!!! I'm now on my second chair, only on my fifth attempt. I have to say that the final look has been far better than some I have seen around the web, but for me, I like the nice, crisp, straight line. I guess I need to concentrate more as I make those turns at the corners.
      As to the extra wraps, fortunately, I had taken several photos of the old chair before cutting away the seat & noticed that mine, too, had the extra wraps.

    Hej! Tack för en fin video. Jag undrar över momentet vid 10.20, är det bara att trä över-under den del som inte ska till alla fyra sidor, dvs bak till fram och tillbaka? Har Öresundsstolar där det momentet är ganska långt (13 cm).

    • @GlinteriorSeGreenLiving

      Det stämmer, det är bara att göra som du beskriver. Se till att snöret är hårt spänt bara.

    What oil do you recommend for restoration? I have 1960s one and needs some polishing.

      I usually use Danish oil, but any oil will do. Danish oil will make oak a little bit darker. Osmo will also do and might even be better.

    What tool is that you use that looks like a hammer? Is it to get the rope even?

    • @GlinteriorSeGreenLiving
      @GlinteriorSeGreenLiving  3 роки тому

      I use a hammer to tap the cord together, they have a tendancy to slip apart. In my case I use a soft hammer but you can use an upholstery hammer (It is usually easier with a smaller head)) aswell or some other tool.

      Its like everything, you will get better at it the more you do it. Just remember to have a firm grip and be meticulous in each corner so that one cord wont overlap the previous cord than everything will go fine.

      @@GlinteriorSeGreenLiving hi i took out the rope today and sanded the chair. Will try to weave it tomorrow. How did you manage to tie the knot in the same place everytime? what is the length of the rope that you weave at one go?

    • @GlinteriorSeGreenLiving
      @GlinteriorSeGreenLiving  4 роки тому +2

      It doesnt have to be, it just happend to be so this time. However the knots should be on the sides rather than in the front or back.

    I have just bought x 8 wishbone reproductions, exact replica of original chair. The wood colour is too light for my mid century dining table so I want to stain the chairs like your colour here. Do I need to strip of oil from wood before I stain to match table? Thank you

      The approx length for one chair is 150m. You buy the cord in 625 m length which is enough for 4 chairs.

    It looks like you used soap and water? Maybe an oil soap like Murphy’s? followed by an oil? Maybe tung oil? Or perhaps original finish was lacquer? I’m scared to use water... my matching table proved susceptible to water. I now have water stains and will need to deal with them myself or by someone in the field of restoration. Looking at Wagner site you can buy them in multiple finishes so that was not much help.

    • @GlinteriorSeGreenLiving
      @GlinteriorSeGreenLiving  4 роки тому +1

      The soap and water is just for cleaning, then I use danish oil in this case. As long as you remove the water its no problem. When the water will be left it will cause stain like when you leave a wet cup. You can the chair with many different treatment like oil, lacquer, soap, oainted.
