Some crappie would have been a nice addition to the meal ,Spencer. Have you ever seen a species of catfish that has a really wide head in relation to it's body? Caught one when I was a kid, and always wondered what it was.
Them early spring fish are a blast and taste phenomenal. Gunna have to figure out new patterns once i move from jersey to Pinnacle, Arkansas this summer. Excited for the challenge.

I live at a private pond and the thing I catch most my bass with is cut bait. It’s very weird I also catch them on liver, corn, and worms they still eat lures and live bait but not as much.
Always a new when fishing with Spencer, in this video the first of catching ones self 😆. That sound of he rain, sleet and hail would of knocked me out.
Love the videos man! I fish Ohio, have caught a pretty decent handful of bass in the 5-5 1/2lb range while I was catfishing and you’d be surprised how many have came off of cut shad, have gotten some real nice ones off live bait too but that’s to be expected sometimes
Great video Spencer. I know how you feel not getting much time to fish all to well. I remember about 7 or 8 years ago I used bar s hotdogs for bait and caught a Lg mouth then about 5 mins later a pike on the hotdogs. I was really puzzled on the lg mouth lol. Keep up the great content!!
How much weight are you using in that wind? I've gone out in +20mph winds a couple times lately and it put a giant U in my line and dragged 2oz weights, the heaviest I have. And they were buried in very thick silt.
@@RiverCertified Thanks for the reply! I probably need to get some heavier weights then. I came close to clipping on another 1oz with the 2oz, but figured that was a recipe for disaster and begging to get snagged.

Gotta question for you, because you genuinely seem outta place north of the Salt Belt. If you had your choice, what southern state would you live in? The cat with the 5 lb head, and the 2.5 lb body, reminds me of the native bass that use to be abundant everywhere we had water in Texas.. Thier mouth was large enough to put a large fist into, but the body was less than half the size of the proportion. Actually seemed like it would have been impossible for them to swim, let alone put up the fight they were capable of giving you when you hooked one. I honestly think they fight harder than a Florida strain bass that weights twice as much as one of them. Sadly they're becoming a rare catch these days, as the hybrid has just about taken over every body of water across the state. Occasionally in private ponds, and conservation lakes built back in the times that soil erosion was a major issue across the country. They were stocked with native bass, white crappie, and channel catfish according to what I was told by the old timers long gone now, and what I've read looking back through the archives. If you ever have the privilege to catch a 5 lb native bass, you'll think you have a much larger fish than you actually find at the end of your line. Had a long ride so I couldn't watch till this morning but what a day an one last cast for us men is like a lady's 5 more minutes till I'm done 7 hours later lol
Poor Spence just hasn't learnt that when you have a fish you can't get unhooked it helps if you DROP your rod and use a second hand to do what the ONE hand can't do on it's own. I don't fish much any more but back in the 60s and 70s fish didn't really prefer one type of bait over another and the weather really didn't make a difference either.
Me too, broke down and bought me a boat, I was so excited to get to the river, I left all my tackle at home!lol.

How much weight are you using in that wind? I've gone out in +20mph winds a couple times lately and it put a giant U in my line and dragged 2oz weights, the heaviest I have. And they were buried in very thick silt.
I was using 3 oz. They still have a bow, but a decent fish will still pull the rod down good.

My father’s PB bass is off of cut bait actually 8.5 lbs at lake fork, it was a pretty funny interaction

10 lb suffix braid. 6 lb mono definitely works too.
