i first heard of laser welding from the Gunsmith Hamilton Bowen, he commented laser welds take bluing in the weld area, where as other welding techniques resulted in areas that did not take the finish properly.
Less distortion with laser vs arc is similar to less distortion with arc vs gas. Gas welding has much lower temp than an arc, but you can’t focus it so you generate more heat and more HAZ and more distortion and takes longer to weld. Lasers have higher temps, but are more focused and generate less heat. Heat and temperature are not the same. A campfire has way more heat but way lower temperature than an arc from a stick welder.
Would like to see more on this subject.
Sure the whole 30+min video is in the weld app in detail. Go check it out. Link is in the description 😊
Nice work gentleman. We needed this !

Fascinating.

Sweet video! 🔥
How does the strength of a laser weld with mild steel compare to TIG?

We need to see material tests and the penetration
Lets say it doesn't do thick material that's fine if it does a decent job oh thin sheet
Show me how you laser weld a hexagon nut all around, laying a nice fillet bead?
This is possible. The laser is not the limiting factor. It is the speed and accuracy of axis motion system
The Chinese have been laser welding SS for years.

is awesome
