- The character everyone loved to hate in “The Parent Trap” is looking back on 20 years of the film’s success. The movie made a star of a youngster named Lindsay Lohan, but how times have changed. Two decades later, it’s the character Meredith who is seen as the real hero. Actress Elaine Hendrix told Inside Edition, “Meredith was very misunderstood.” Hendrix continued, “She knew what she wanted and she went after it.” #InsideEdition
Not gonna lie, as despicable as she was, I always loved watching her. She nailed that role!
Definitely, she's a great actress, I wouldn't call Meredith's role inspiring lmao
When she was younger she would of played a perfect Marilyn Monroe
Kendra Carver she can still play her
Moin Mahmud true! She’s still beautiful!
her face definitely, but her body is too athletic to play marilyn monroe haha
Right I still think her character was evil and not “the hero”: she only after Nick for his money and was willing to break up a father and his daughters so Meredith is still bad in my book but love the actress she killed the role.
I think she could play anna nicole smith
She's not a role model??? She told people that the twin's dad was out of town to get him out of a charity event. She made their father choose between her and his kids. She plotted against a young girl because she was intimidated. "She knew what she wanted and went after it." Obviously she didn't want anything to do with the twins and they didn't want anything to do with her.
Well maybe not maybe yes but since you she the real her maybe that’s why they called her an role model
It’s a joke.
Exactly
Dude Chill, it's just a joke!
Ooh I hated her character so much in the movie lol 😂
Doge SRT Demon same 😂
Doge SRT Demon same here couldn't stand her
Doge SRT Demon yeah, me too!!! I thought that was one of the most evil and bitchiest step- mothers’ to run from QUICK!!! My how times have changed 20 years DAMN!!!!!!🧐🧐🧐
Doge SRT Demon same
I'm sure the actress did a pretty good job playing her role as a villain
They aint explain a damn thing
Thats what I was trying to figure out. Why?
Saleima Romain lol exactly! I'm confused AF LET ME GO WATCH IT AGAIN HAHHA.
Lol and I rewatched the movie how is a gold digger a role model tf
Saleima Romain exactly 😂😂😂😂
I think it's because "She went after what she wanted"? That's all I can pull from this. Gold diggers shouldn't be role models, though...
umm am i the only one who didn’t hear or get the point as to why meredith is a hero..?
Yin Yang she is obsessed with herself and loves merideth like religion. She’s insecure so she hides behind merideth blake
Yoshi the homie But she's most known for being Meredith so that makes sense. Why do you think she's insecure?
She mentions that her character is being seen as a role model now. As a strong women who is willing to do just about anything to get what she really wants. Though I think her character was a (insert profanity here) I also think that she was a strong character and THAT is heroic in it's own sense.
@@michaelfawcett4107 just be moral about it.
@@michaelfawcett4107 what type of “strong women” dependent on a man and his wealth and land?
I don't get it. What's so inspiring about a woman who wants to marry a guy she likes but treats his daughter like dirt? She's not misunderstood, she's evil.
Yesss!
She doesn't even like him she likes his money
Hallie and Annie put Meredith on a mattress on water when Meredith did not know how to swim! They could have killed her
@@bluedaffodil2023:so Meredith is an adult she can learn how to fricken swim clearly Meredith’s parents should have taught her how to swim
All along to begin with
@@bluedaffodil2023plus Hallie and Annie hated Meredith anyway the two sides wanted nothing to do with each other anyway but either way Meredith can take adult swimming lessons for crying out loud
A REAL PRETTY LADY.
It’s funny how everything changes.
I ran into you again!!!!
Nothing change still i love her sexy ass..
I ran into you again
Andrew Glinski I always keep seeing you. XD
Yep. 20 years can do a lot
R.I.P Natasha Richardson
What was the point of this??...
MY LIFE IS A MEME MY LIFE IS PATHETIC slow news day
Idk... Meredith was a gold digger. Lol
Kunai Senpai
Yeah they post nonsense when they have no big stuff🙄
Im confused too
Kunai Senpai this isn’t the news
Excuse me, was Meredith misunderstood when she said she can't wait to send the little girl to boarding school to get rid of her? Or when she treated the woman who worked for them as if she's a servant and ringing the bell to embarrass her? And sure, the twins were nasty too, and it s all a comedy so it's fine for both the villain and the kids to be like that in a movie, both actresses did a great job, but let's not come and say that because of women empowerment this behaviour should be accepted in today's society. I don't care if you're a woman or a man, toxic behaviour like this shouldn't find any excuse or be condoned.
Two decades later she is still awesome!
Herpes go away
She's flawless in Dynasty
20 years later and she still looks good 👏🏽
She looks better and younger than Lindsay
Lilly Rose How shocking
Lilly Rose Yep
Yeah she looks like she never aged still As beautiful as ever
Lilly Rose Yeah she does. Even though that’s not saying much 😂
No she doesn't but ok.
Meredith is not a role model for 3 reasons
1. She only wanted to marry nick for his money
2. She wanted to send the twins to Switzerland
3. She was rude to jess
Meredith gives a bad name to women and step mom everywhere
They never said why people thinks she is a hero. That just let's you know how low we as a society have gotten if women see her behavior as a hero.
Someone with sense
Carmen Jordan Exactly. I'm still trying to figure out how her character is this big role model.
Thank you.
Chessy*
How is that possible Lindsey and this woman look the same age now LOL?!!
This woman looks 10 times better tho
L.P Moonstone HMMMM it’s not like Lindsay have been to rehab several times due to drugs etc HMMM
Elaine looks great but that's a reach. Then again reaching is what y'all have been doing with Lindsay ever since she was a teen so at least yall consistent.
She’s still gorgeous
“I’m sorry for judging you sis.” Lmaooo this had to be the only tweet made.
It's been years since I actually saw this movie from the beginning to the end, but how exactly is Meredith Blake a hero? They didn't say. Yeah, she went after what she wanted. A guy who's everything her parents wanted for her plus millions more. She's not exactly a villain, but how is she a hero?
Ikr, I remember she told her assistant that she wanted to send Hallie (who was actually Annie) to a boarding school in Timbuktu. Later, after she met both of them she wanted to ship them to Switzerland, although it’s a nice play but, you know.
She even called Chessy, the housekeeper with a small bell 🔔 and by calling her name loudly and rude.
Yea I really don't understand it either
She is way more of a villain though
1:15 aliens
Yeah because that makes sense?
A second before, and the volume is.all the way up cause i can't really hear and i almost got a heart attack.. 1:14
You mean Predator?
I thought that was just my phone lol
I’m actually obsessed with this woman. She’s one of the funniest people ever.
Watch Eleanoregee0018
?This is one of my favourite movies. Meredith is so beautiful! ❤
Not sure what's so heroic about a woman who would try to split up a dad and his daughter, but whatever floats your boat I guess...
Romi and Michelle’s High School Reunion!
FASHION, BEAUTY & WINE All these years and I have never realized that was her.
"I'm sorry for judging you sis" was the best quote they could grab.
Still the villain in my book she only wanted Nick for his money and tried to separate him from his daughter. Always loved the actress for how well she played the evil almost step mom. With her hair like that thought she looked like Marilyn Monroe and she easily could’ve played her in this time of her life.
she aged perfectly
I LOVE watching her as Meredith. She was so entertaining!
Mee too, but imagine her playing for Anastasia Steele rather than Dakota
I fail to see what’s a role model about her.
Then again it’s the millennials we’re talking about, they think Joseph Stalin is a “good role model”
I love that movie!
ItsmeVivian 101 my fav movie
"Hero"? The English language is dying a slow death.
1:14 this is me everyday waking up at 4am😐😐😐
And that's me when I read your comment, it's not funny, I just got mad
Dominic ProMartinez y it’s a joke
Dominic ProMartinez
😮Yawn😮
Dominic ProMartinez you have issues if a simple comment makes you throw a tantrum
MY LIFE IS A MEME MY LIFE IS PATHETIC
I was so scared that it was going to say that she died
Meredith was a good character. But she shouldnt be considered a hero for being a gold diggin, social climbin villain. Lol
As a millennial who was obsessed with this movie as a kid and loves it to this day...
...Nope. Still a villain. This video also did nothing to give evidence that says otherwise.
I guess she’s a hero for young girls who grew up as social climbers, seeking for sugar daddy. I still find Merideth’s character annoying, nothing compared to an independent single mother and successful fashion designer.
I’m dead how the reporter read “I’m sorry for judging you sis.” 😂
She was so pretty in the movie and she’s still so freakin pretty!!!
She looks great honestly
As a "grown up millennial in her 20s" I still don't understand why someone would look up to a character like that. I mean the actor is sweet but I don't get this whole meredith is inspiration thing. I don't aspire to be any of that..
She was so beautiful then and she’s even more beautiful now😊
I just saw this movie for the first time today. Crazy.
The way she says Lohan has me dead
And now meredith is Alexis Colby nee Carrington. Oh the irony.
Perspective is one.of the many things that divide us as a species.
I thought the parents were evil!
I mean they split the kids up from having a relationship.
True
Someone please explain how they changed the narrative!? Because she's still shady af to me. The character that is ya'll. 🤷🏾♂️
I like the actress, but why is Meredith the hero? She tried to get rid of the twins and marry an old man for his money. She was very manipulative
Totally down for a sequel
Meredith was a villainous character, not a hero. But the actress was hugely underrated. I was disappointed she wasn’t in more films.
I actually liked this movie...The romance between the Dennis Quade character and Natasha Richardson's role
was very charming and authentic.....
I watched the movie recently, and I still don't like her as a character. She may know what she wants and does what she can to get it, but she is "wicked." She was marrying the dad for his money and wanted the twins out of the way. When is that a good thing?
Elaine Hendrix was gorgeous then. And she's gorgeous Now. I actually liked her in OTHER movies though. She never got the fame she deserved.
she's still so beautiful! She barely aged!!
I like how they just completely made up this story. 😂
To shoot straight, if it weren't for that one line where she threatened behind Annie's back to ship her off to Switzerland, then I could buy the narrative that Meredith was possibly a hero from another person's perspective.
Notwithstanding, you can see Meredith from one of two perspectives. From her perspective, she genuinely tried to befriend Annie/Hallie, but they kept being aloof and bratty, shutting her out. And it all came to a head during the camping trip when they pulled every dirty trick in the book on her and made her so angry, she handed down the ultimatum. Had they been more accepting, she would have been a perfect mother.
Or, you can see her from Annie and Hallie's perspective, their mom's rival and an enemy to be defeated. See her in that light, they will never see anything good in her, only her bad side.
And while she was portrayed as a bit of a gold digger, IIRC it was established early on that she was already independently wealthy and thus didn't exactly *need* Nick's money.
@@metallica708 Well above average. Definitely not as rich as Nick. But she was interested in more than his money no doubt.
Her mother though, she was a gold digger. No account of her own source of income.
She's actually a really nice lady.
Also, she's an animal rights activist.
Its so funny because I watched that movie on Netflix YESTERDAY!!
Colin Paul Hilarious!
It’s not on Netflix tho
Tigermist it is
Tigermist it is, I watched it today
It’s not on Netflix.
She’s still looking good 😻
The actress that played Meredith's mother. Played the villian in the orginal Parent Trap
Plot twist, history is repeating itself and Meredith is her daughter
Take pride in your role as a Villanis, but don't ruin the acting by sugar coating Meredith's character. She was awful, as she was meant to be
“At least my parents didn’t name me after bottled water!”
Uh, this doesn't make sense. How is she seen a hero?
Propaganda.... being a selfish gold digger is not something to be respected for.
I love that 🎥. & wow she looks great.
I always loved Meredith she was so fabulous and funny!
OMG I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT PARENT TRAP 😝😝😝😝😝😝😝
This is called the "Yaas Queen" culture, period.
I could not stop watching the movie! Love it!
My favorite moments were, "Oh. He and Miss 'I'll just have half a grapefruit, thank you'" and when she's screaming on the raft and it just cuts to Nick and he mutters, "Oh, man..."
Why would millenials find her inspirational? Marrying a guy older than her for his money. Omg so inspirational
She aged gracefully!
She is still evil, but not in the way we originally thought. She even said to her assistant that she wanted to send Hallie (Annie) to a boarding school in Timbuktu before the twins did much to her. She wasn't a gold digger, buther intentions were never completely right. I think the most unusual part of all this si the fact that she met Nick while Hallie was away and were al;ready planning a wedding.
she is a gold digger
Still see her as a villain
i dont care how empowered people see her as now, she was a straight up gold digger in the movie, whats good about that?
As mean as Meredith was, she was really pretty.
She is a HERO
Ryan George how
Captain Fangle I was joking
Ryan George better be that girl is fake
Ryan George ik
Ryan George a
How the hell was she an inspiration? For gold digging step mothers??
Wow the years have definitely been kind to her!😘
Idk why but she reminds me of Tom hiddleston and him defending Loki by saying he's misunderstood
This is such a funny movie
I barely listened to the interview I just watched the funny clips 😂😂😂
She looks great 20 yrs later! ❤👍😉
Actually, this movie could be considered a sequel to the 1961 movie. Meredith’s mother in this movie was paled by the actress who played a similar gold digger character in the original. Maybe that character married some other guy and raised her daughter to marry a rich man.
That's how I saw it too.... Meredith's mom did say to Annie "Just call me Aunt Vicky".
I don’t get how she’s a role model? She made the father choose between his kids and her. That’s incredibly toxic and the final straw in why he decided to dump her. And furthermore, she never truly loved Nick or his family. True they tormented her a lot, which now that I’m older does make me feel bad for her, but she’s definitely not a “role model”
I don't understand, how is she a hero?
What about her makes her a hero? I don't remember the movie.
The original parent trap was written in a time where traditional marriages were glorified and step-mothers were demonized. Millennials live in a time where divorces and shared custody is the norm and finding your happiness is more important, and they've convinced themselves that as long as you're happy, the kids should be happy too.
Wow she looks almost exactly the same😍🔥
This was one of my favorite movies back when I was 11-12 years old! I watched it so many times!
At least she still looks good after 20 years
She still looks good
I have to re-watch the movie. I don't see how her character was an inspiration or anything to look up to. I do think the actress did a great job playing the role, and I enjoy how the character added to the story's plot
I’m confused why do people now see her as a role model
video nocturnal because she lies about everything and they believe her
Played that role perfectly.
Loved that Original Vickie Robinson played by Joanna Barnes, played Meredith's mom Vickie Blake.Plus in Original character Vickie/Meridith was Savage! She says you two share everything right? Then SLAPS one.Give your sister her half.
She got a bad rap when she played Meredith. I can not imagine she's really like that in real life.
She could have easily played Naomi Lapaglia in Wolf of Wall Street.
Everyone grew up and got a taste of that thing called “life” and gained some perspective....
So what did she do as a hero?
Im confused, idk maybe im just really missing something here..but why is she seen as the hero now??
