Your voicing really brings the machine to life.
Just picked up a C Melody and overhauling it for my son's collection.
    Good job.

you sound great and you make the instrument sound great! i play C melodies and C sopranos exclusively, and i totally agree with what you said about the 'non-existent weight' of tradition with this instrument. thanks!

I’ve enjoyed all of your playing so far but there’s something really special about the music you make on this instrument. Maybe I’m hearing that freedom you mentioned or maybe it’s inspiring you to play in a way that exploits its unique voice-one that I think definitely warrants resurrecting. I feel the same way when I play my 1921/2 Buescher C Melody. You’ve mentioned your stature and how tenor fits you physically so I’d love to hear your sound and thoughts on a c sax like mine with a curvy neck. Nice work. Keep these videos coming.

      from jake:
"yes. majority of manufacturers (before the 1930s/40s) had C saxophones in their production lineups. the American companies were the largest proponents of the instrument, however other companies (Europe) made them as well!"

You really brought out the unique sound of the C Melody sax. What mouthpiece are you using? Very, very nice.

I had never heard one of these before. I play in churches and playing secondary melodies the way cellos play. My Martin Alto notes between low c, b and c#, I think blows a real cello away. I've gotten quite good with those notes. The Martin Handcraft makes it easy, but I'm intrigued by a C horn between alto and tenor. This C horn has a unique sound with the straight neck- 8M. I was told that C mel horns don't sound all that good. You changed all that for me. Thanks, a boatload.

this horn is part of a private museum collection, and is therefore not for sale...
however, there are still many Conn 8M saxophones available for sale on the market!
      thanks for sharing !
